I was talking with my Ds12, earlier, about the late, great, George Michael and he asked, was he still alive... I told him, that sadly he had died. He asked me how, and it occurred to me , that I don't know. I was a massive fan, back in the day, and was sad at his passing. Was his cause of death ever made public?

Hmm, not sure actually.

I miss George Michael, I actually do.

Redcrayons · 02/06/2019 13:41

I think he had a heart attack.

Illberidingshotgun · 02/06/2019 13:42

Heart and liver disease, I believe.

SisterMaryLoquacious · 02/06/2019 13:44

Heart disease and fatty liver according to the coroner. Didn’t really make the press because it’s not a headline grabbing verdict.

I saw this thread title and my immediate response is “has something happened to him? I hope he hasn’t died!” and then I remembered. It still seems wrong.

Whatthefunk · 02/06/2019 13:45

Interesting, and yet refreshing, that it wasn't made public. I think the whole thing went by with too little fanfare....I would have loved, a month long telefest, of George

Such a sad end, to such a talented, yet haunted man...

I miss him too. My favourites are Jesus to a Child and A Different Corner.

AnyFucker · 02/06/2019 13:55

You Have Been Loved is sublime.

Charley50 · 02/06/2019 13:55

It is.

MalloryLaurel · 02/06/2019 13:59

I agree AnyFucker.

My beloved George ❤️. So many stories of his generosity and lovely nature.

CarpeVitam · 02/06/2019 14:07

Ditto AnyFucker, it sure is!

Ihopeyourcakeisshit · 02/06/2019 14:11

It was lovely to read of how generous he was during his lifetime and all done without making a fuss. It's a shame he hasn't had some kind of recognition rather than the look how charitable I am people who get them.
I say this as someone who wasn't a fan of his music particularly, he just seemed like a nice guy.

Whatthefunk · 02/06/2019 14:12

I love him singing, the first time, ever, I saw your face 😫

I vaguely remember, that he paid for a couple, to have IVF Treatment, after seeing them on This morning. Lovely man

Not only exceptionally talented but also it seems a genuinely nice and good person.
It's such a shame he had his own personal demons with drugs.
A year or so before his death he spent some time in an Austrian clinic where he was very ill with pneumonia. So perhaps his overall health was not good.

Ihopeyourcakeisshit · 02/06/2019 14:16

Paid for a student nurse to continue her course as she was struggling with fees or something?

abbiecloud · 02/06/2019 14:16

I was a mad Wham fan from aged 10, still got my singles, LPs and posters from Jackie and Smash Hits. He's probably the only celebrity death that I've felt so genuinely upset over.

abbiecloud · 02/06/2019 14:18

He kept a homeless shelter going with his donations, paid off stranger's loans, there are many stories. He did most of it anonymously so there's lots of people he helped who will never know where the money came from.

Whatthefunk · 02/06/2019 14:19

I agree, the only time, a celebrity death, has really affected me....

I was a MASSIVE fan and still get weird pangs when I see his picture. It's also a weird feeling when a major concert is announced and I know he won't be on the bill Sad. To find out just what a wonderful human being he actually was makes me so happy. He had the voice of an angel. Still can't believe he's actually gone.

AnyFucker · 02/06/2019 14:26

I have a little sob when I catch his music on the radio

FleetwoodStorms · 02/06/2019 14:32

His version of The Long and Winding Road sends shivers down my back.

God, he was beautiful in the day.
