Hello,

Does anyone have any recommendations for funny or serious shows that are not too violent or too sexualised. Plus are actually good and both you and your dh like?

I watch a lot of documentaries because of this but sometimes you just want a good series....I am just so bored of scrolling and scrolling.

Ideas of things I have watched and really liked:
The Good Fight - dh won't watch it.
First dates - he will watch that
Killing Eve - both liked it but a bit violent
The Romanoffs - started okay but a bit boring by the end
Mad Men - both loved it
Breaking Bad - loved it but too violent for me really. Amazing acting, stories etc
House of Cards - Haven't got on with the final season but did really like it before
Docs I like and really recommend: RBG and Losers, Salt Acid Fat Heat and Seven Days Out on Netflix

I am waiting for Big Little Lies season two to come out and Killing Eve season two.

I have Amazon, Netflix.

What do you reckon?

Binged watched 6 episodes of New Amsterdam on Amazon this weekend, loving it, think it fits your bill

MrsBrill · 27/05/2019 20:52

You sound like me :)
Things we have liked:

The good wife (good fight was a spin off from this, good wife far better in my view)

Lovesick (on Netflix)
Call my Agent (French series, subtitled, on Netflix)
The detectorists

I'm sure there are others, will keep thinking...

We've run out of things to watch now and are watching Easy on Netflix which is okish but a bit pretentious (dialogue reminds me of Dawson's creek, remember that?!?) It's also got loads of sex in it which might exclude it from your list Blush

White Collar on Netflix

The good place

Dead to me on Netflix is brilliant.
Funny and sad but not too much blood.

thetwinkletoescollective · 27/05/2019 21:03

Thanks everyone really great suggestions and quite a few I haven't heard of. So its great to be able to check them out.

I really enjoyed the Good Wife (and saw all of the seasons) and I also loved The Good Place - one of the best shows I have seen!!

The Mentalist is on Amazon Prime. One of the only detective type shows that I've ever enjoyed. Simon Baker is amazing in it.

Notnownotneverever · 27/05/2019 21:07

The Good Fight. Very different to the Good Wife - your DH may well like this one.
New Amsterdam - excellent medical drama. Light and both DH and I like it.

Camsie30 · 27/05/2019 21:08

Schitt's Creek on Netflix is very very funny

Isthebigwomanhere · 27/05/2019 21:09

The crown on Netflix

Petalflowers · 27/05/2019 21:09

New Amsterdam on Prime
Suits
Turn up Charlie = Netflix - stars Idris Alba in a less serious role. We really enjoyed it.

AnyFucker · 27/05/2019 21:10

I player...

This Country and Don't Forget The Driver

Brilliantly observed comedy and pathos. Slow and steady enjoyment.

Xyzzzzz · 27/05/2019 21:11

I enjoyed New Amsterdam, I was going to suggest the good place but seen your update! It’s so funny.

Dead to me is good
House of cards final season - I was disappointed with it
Jane the virgin is an easy watch

Cocolapew · 27/05/2019 21:14

Hap and Leonard on Netflix
Goliath on Amazon, but only the first series.
Bosch on Amazon.
Dead To Me Netflix

ScottishDoll · 27/05/2019 21:14

Better Call Saul is the prequel to Breaking Bad and imo a much better show, less violence (hardly any), brilliantly written story lines. On Netflix.

Also Homecoming with Julia Roberts - best you know nothing about that before you watch it.

Marvellous Mrs Maisel on Amazon.

SaturdaySauv · 27/05/2019 21:15

After Life on Netflix

ScottishDoll · 27/05/2019 21:17

The Kominsky Method (Michael Douglas)
