Hello,

Does anyone have any recommendations for funny or serious shows that are not too violent or too sexualised. Plus are actually good and both you and your dh like?

I watch a lot of documentaries because of this but sometimes you just want a good series....I am just so bored of scrolling and scrolling.

Ideas of things I have watched and really liked:
The Good Fight - dh won't watch it.
First dates - he will watch that
Killing Eve - both liked it but a bit violent
The Romanoffs - started okay but a bit boring by the end
Mad Men - both loved it
Breaking Bad - loved it but too violent for me really. Amazing acting, stories etc
House of Cards - Haven't got on with the final season but did really like it before
Docs I like and really recommend: RBG and Losers, Salt Acid Fat Heat and Seven Days Out on Netflix

I am waiting for Big Little Lies season two to come out and Killing Eve season two.

I have Amazon, Netflix.

What do you reckon?

The Good Place
Suits

Stranger Things
Bates Motel

All on Netflix.

So sad that almost all these recommendations are American. There's brilliant British drama out there but clearly not on Netflix.

The stand up comedy

Only one other person has said it so I'm going to chime in.

Life in pieces (prime) just fab

Summer of Rockets - occasional tiny bit of violence and beginning of sex to fade kind of thing but very very good and based on true events

missnevermind · 28/05/2019 00:49

Maybe not what you are looking for but I enjoyed Heartland set on a ranch in Canada. No bad language no sex totally clean but a bit soap like. Also Chesapeake Shores.
Bit of a tangent after those but I am watching Zoo at the moment, violence but mostly animal attacks.

I'm four episodes into Designated Survivor on Netflix, enjoying it so far.

Glad you liked Call my Agent, OP!

I'd second Mum and Friday night dinner which others mentioned above too (both British).

Shutuptodd · 28/05/2019 07:29

I'm really into inside number 9 at the moment.

I'm a complete prude so hate any over sexualised stuff.

Also Better Call Saul is a great series and as someone said it's not as violent as breaking bad.

Shutuptodd · 28/05/2019 07:30

Friday night dinner is one of my faves. Episodes is also really good.

Graceymac99 · 28/05/2019 07:34

I loved watching Friday Night Dinner too.
I also vote for Schitts Creek.

Ghosts. Funny, sad -and clean

Did I say funny? Laugh out loud funny

GrouchyKiwi · 28/05/2019 09:08

If Friday Night Lights is still on Netflix then that is fantastic. Don't let the American football theme put you off; it's really about people. I loved it.

Baboutheocelot · 28/05/2019 09:14

I would also recommend inside number 9. It can be a bit scary but also very funny.

I liked the looming tower on amazon. I don’t think it’s too violent, there was the aftermath of an explosion though.

Hello,

Really great suggestions. Thank you to everyone who has contributed. Everyone 'got' what I meant and so I have got a new long list to start working through.

xx
