What fresh hell awaits us now? She was really emotional.

I’ll save my sympathy for all the people fucked over by her and her government.

The only reason I have any shred of sadness about her departure is that we are almost certain to have someone even worse as a replacement.

NunoGoncalves · 24/05/2019 16:02

Will a new PM make any difference to the Brexit process? I mean, the parties still won't be able to agree on any deal, will they? So I don't really understand the point of this. Can someone explain?

FiremanKing · 24/05/2019 16:12

Moonpig cashing in....

Theresa May has resigned
Acis · 24/05/2019 16:36

I'd vote for that one above Boris any day, FiremanKing!

MrsExpo · 24/05/2019 16:42

I’m another who has some sympathy for her. She was set up to fail but tried to succeed anyhow. I dread to think who will succeed her.

Intothe · 24/05/2019 16:52

Tory party is fucked I think. No matter who goes in.

Graphista · 24/05/2019 17:03

"It's time for a general election. Get these muppets out who have no idea how "normal people" live."

This!

The potential replacement candidates are bloody terrifying! Bookies are saying it'll be Boris ffs!! And we could be stuck with them for at least 3 years!

"Does your heart go out to the hundreds of thousands of people living in poverty as a result of austerity? Save your sympathy for the victims of this government." This too!

She's made a Fucking atrocious mess of not only brexit but the uk generally!

Never had sympathy for her not about to start now.

As for "she was handed a poisoned chalice" was she fuck! She grabbed it! Hoping she'd be the "great saviour" and then proceeded to make things 100 X worse!

"I can’t imagine MPs will be lining up to replace her." Except they have been for months.

"The Brexit campaign was riddled with fraud. A competent PM would have pulled the plug as soon as that became apparent and insisted on a new, properly run referendum." Exactly!

This article popped up on my FB today:

www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2019/may/24/country-racist-elections-liberals-anti-racism-movement

A frightening and interesting read - what was that about "all that is necessary for evil to triumph..."?

"Ok a lot of you hate her but do you honestly think anyone else will do a better job?" Not another tory no, but it doesn't have to be another tory - we desperately need a GE

"I was a Labour supporter for years but not after Blair." Blair was tory lite!

"Austerity wasn't just down to TM was it, why is she getting blame for that too?" Because she was instrumental in creating, supporting and carrying out austerity policies.

"I bet these people also think corbyn is a terrorist sympathiser. That's exactly what I think" oh ffs really?! He's really not! Certainly not in comparison to the blatant tory support of Saudi Arabia and their profiteering from the mess in that part of the world!

All this leading to the downfall of the tories is one possible good thing to come out of this total debacle!

BumbleBeeWineGlass · 24/05/2019 17:57

The scary thing about a GE though is Farrage or one of the far right Brexit parties getting into power.

SmiledWithTheRisingSun · 24/05/2019 18:19

What Graphista said. Totally.

ForalltheSaints · 24/05/2019 18:20

Boris Johnson as PM is dangerous in my view- would you want decisions on the military made by him?

SinisterBumFacedCat · 24/05/2019 18:23

Boris was quite happy to insult Muslim women and no one pulled him up on it. For that he should never be considered for PM. I really despair for this country. We are totally fucked.

booksandcaffeine · 24/05/2019 18:45

I dislike the Tories a lot because of their ridiculous policies but I do have a bit of empathy for TM. She was brought to clean up Cameron's mess and has always stuck to her beliefs (even though I'm the opposing side with being Pro-EU).

It's disgusting to see people laughing at her mental wellbeing though (the pictures of her being distressed). She, is human after all.

theliverpoolone · 24/05/2019 19:14

She was brought to clean up Cameron's mess and has always stuck to her beliefs. She was a Remainer, so she's definitely not stuck to her beliefs. She sacrificed them (and the country) for the sake of the power of PM.

IKnowYouAndYouCannotSing · 24/05/2019 19:28

She’s a moral blank and I have no sympathy for her. But what we’ve got coming our way will undoubtedly make her look like Mother Theresa.

Dark days ahead I fear.

escapade1234 · 24/05/2019 20:28

She didn’t take the prospect of no deal seriously.

The EU knew this. Therefore they didn’t bother negotiating to avoid one. They knew she wouldn’t allow it to happen.

This gave the EU all the power.

The next leader needs to prepare for no deal and be prepared to allow it to happen.

The EU will only negotiate if they truly believe we are prepared to crash out.

LemonMousse · 24/05/2019 20:38

God I FELT for her at the end of that speech! And I certainly never expected to!
I don't like her or her party but as a fellow human being I sympathised.
Hopefully my bottle of Friday wine will restore my equilibrium! Grin

Langrish · 24/05/2019 20:55

I just felt for the rest of us LemonMousse.

floraloctopus · 24/05/2019 21:06

She's got a lot of money, she can do whatever she wants in life and has had a chance to serve the country she loves. She's not going to worry about the electricity being cut off or where the next meal is coming from, she can retire and live a life of luxury. My sympathy is lacking other than in the way I'd sympathise with anybody having to resign so publicly or in a shit situation.

Pomegranatepompom · 24/05/2019 21:10

Her financial situation is irrelevant to having sympathy for someone who was clearly distressed.

floraloctopus · 24/05/2019 21:21

How has she been sympathetic to the people who are distressed due to the policies of her government?

stressedoutpa · 25/05/2019 07:11

I am amazed at how she has persevered against all odds. She has been treated like shit.

We are going to be worse off when she leaves.

Will be incredibly annoyed if Boris gets it. He is a lying toad of the highest order.

magicBrenda · 25/05/2019 07:16

I am amazed at how she has persevered against all odds. She has been treated like shit

I think that’s down to ego

Pomegranatepompom · 25/05/2019 09:52

I think she felt a responsibility to continue despite being obviously ill, I’m not a Tory supporter but she had an impossible task, I can’t imagine anyone will do a better job. We’re probably about to experience worse.
