Childless couples

letsgohooray · 20/05/2019 20:24

I came to the realisation that 90% of our family life involves or revolves around the dc. Either driving them somewhere or organising something for them or getting stuff for them etc. I genuinely want to know what childless couples do when they are not working? I want a breakdown!!! Weekday evenings and weekends. What do you do with your time? DO you spend it with your dp or away on activities? What do you talk about with each other. It is a whole world I can not imagine.

Ivanapee, you really are not clever or funny. When exactly did I say all the parents I know have children that are prisoners and drug addicts? Just a bit of exaggeration on your part to make you look big then

Nor did I say that all the parents I have met are miserable. As for using the word "sprogged" well!!!

I said quite a lot of the parents I know have children that have caused them quite a lot of grief and upset. That is true whether you want to believe it or not. It just makes me even more glad I chose not to have any.

The reasons their children have caused them grief are varied but SOME of them have been in prison and some are drug takers.

Aborfor, I am not "offended" that posters don't know of anyone that has been in prison but I am surprised. Not sure why I know of a few unless I have just met more people than most posters.

millythepink · 23/05/2019 11:33

Sorry, for grinding your gears this morning but I wasn't intending to boast by stealth it's just they are the only two I can think.of that have any kind of contact with criminals. Have plenty of friends in non professional jobs too if that helps?

Lots of our friends swear too and I sometimes swear in front of our children, but what I meant was that I have never sworn at them.in anger you know like "You stupid f:;!*@ing bstars or anything like that." It's just not in me.

Gosh, do you really not know what a non professional job is?

formerbabe · 23/05/2019 11:39

Gosh, do you really not know what a non professional job is?

Do you mean like a checkout job? I suppose they are just checking out our shopping on an amateur level rather than a professional one.

millythepink · 23/05/2019 11:42

It's nearly the bank holiday weekend you know @formerbabe. No need to be so touchy Smile

DHhasahobbyanditsnotcycling · 23/05/2019 11:42

Gosh. Tell me, is this a sex thing?

Femalebornandbreed · 23/05/2019 11:43

please do tell us the actual number of people who have been sent to prison for that in the last few years, and the sources where you are getting the number from

Google it.

One of your many famous and rich and educated and posh friend is not enough of a source though grin I don’t know any one famous Sad

Gosh. Tell me, is this a sex thing?

No a coffee and a bowl of pasta thing whilst the kids wreak her house 😬

This is one of your posts, mydogisthebest:

to be honest yes I do think having children is pretty much all awful. As I get older I think that more and more.[...]

Almost all my friends with children say their marriages suffered because of having children and they are almost all divorced now. Someone said to me just before I got married that if I wanted a happy marriage to not have children.

Also I don't know if my friends are unlucky but so many of them have children that have given them so much grief and worry. One has a son who takes drugs and 2 of her grandsons have ended up in hospital because of drug overdoses (not intentional). I have 2 friends whose sons have been in prison. Another friend's daughter had her children taken into care and that has caused my friend enormous upset.

So even when children are grown up they can cause problems and so can grandchildren.

You seem to hang around with a fairly troubled set of people.

DHhasahobbyanditsnotcycling · 23/05/2019 11:45

Femalebornandbreed
Google it.

so basically you just made that one up, exactly why I asked you to clarify, thank you Smile

formerbabe · 23/05/2019 11:45

Not touchy. Genuinely fascinated by what a non professional job is?
If you're getting paid, then surely you're a professional rather than an amateur/volunteer. Or do you define a professional job as something else...i.e. highly paid?

millythepink · 23/05/2019 11:47

This thread has certainly made me realise how very vanilla my life is. And I'm spending the weekend at the garden centre before planting out a new herb bed, there's just no hope for me is there Grin

thinkofausernameplease · 23/05/2019 11:50

In the week:

Both get up at 5:30- get up and ready and head to separate gym's, work out or go to a gym class. Drive to work, shower and get ready at work.
I start work at 8:30 DH begins at 9.

I get home around 6pm, DH 6:30. I'll usually put a wash on or do some quick jobs until DH comes home, we most often cook together.
Most evenings are spent seeing friends or family, DH plays football twice a week, I go to a pub quiz with friends or walk the dog with my Mum and sister. One night we will do a food shop.

Weekends are so busy, I don't have a free weekend now until November. Lots of brunches out in various cities with friends (school and uni friends now live all over the country so lots of weekends are used up by visiting!). We enjoy walking the dog, we life close to lots of nice parks and woodland. House stuff, park run, nights out, takeaways in...

We also do 4/5 holidays a year, some of these are city breaks and usually a festival!

Definitely do want children when we are closer to thirties. Very aware my lifestyle will drastically change and I won't be able to spend so much money on clothes, homeware and expensive bags ha

millythepink · 23/05/2019 11:51

@formerbabe, as you appear uninformed it is generally held that a 'professional' job in the traditional sense requires a university degree, and depending on the degree, followed by an add on professional qualification.

HTH.

Femalebornandbreed · 23/05/2019 11:53

DHhasahobbyanditsnotcycling just google tv licence imprisonments/poll tax/council tax imprisonments. It’s not hard to find. Don’t call me a liar if you can’t even be bothered to look for yourself. I’m not the oracle or fact finder. I don’t even get your point your trying to prove. Have you never heard of any one going to prison for that?

formerbabe · 23/05/2019 11:53

That's a very old fashioned definition.

If you meant common, you should have just said...Grin

Femalebornandbreed · 23/05/2019 11:55

Lots of our friends swear too and I sometimes swear in front of our children, but what I meant was that I have never sworn at them.in anger you know like "You stupid f:;!*@ing bstars or anything like that." It's just not in me

And neither do I or most people I would suspect Shock

Femalebornandbreed · 23/05/2019 11:56

And I'm spending the weekend at the garden centre before planting out a new herb bed, there's just no hope for me is there

Which is what we did last weekend, well Dh did. I watched shaking my head as we move out in September ....

millythepink · 23/05/2019 11:58

Yeah, but, no it isn't actually a very old fashioned definition is it? Not at all. The term 'professional' (in the way I defined) job or career is used at my children's secondary school by teachers who are 20 years younger than me.

millythepink · 23/05/2019 12:06

Oh no, all that work and you're going to be leaving it behind??? Nice for the new owners though Smile

DHhasahobbyanditsnotcycling · 23/05/2019 12:07

Femalebornandbreed
don't try to reverse it, you are the one making statements, if you can't be bothered to back them up, no I don't have to bother to do the work for you.

So until proven otherwise,I assume you are talking rubbish.
Happy to be proven wrong, but I don't have to do the research for you. Smile

Yeah, so anyway...

Some kids go to prison and take drugs.

Some go to garden centres and plant flowerbeds.

Some like having them. Some think they’re the spawn of satan.

Some people call them fucking bastards.

Some people don’t.

Some want them.

Some don’t want them.

That’s about it, right?
