All have been vaccinated.

They were all at the same party 2 weeks ago .
He’s really poorly with it 😢

I think sterility is relatively rare from mumps. My db had swelling of the testicles but did father a son afterwards. He ended up deaf in 1 ear though

MustardScreams · 20/05/2019 19:25

Yes, everyone that has vaccines gets the disease they are vaccinating against 🙄 Go read an actual scientific paper instead of a mummy blog and see how utterly ridiculous you sound.

Judashascomeintosomemoney · 20/05/2019 19:26

and then even individuals who have been vaccinated are at risk
Is that because their effectiveness decreases over time?

perhapsiwill · 20/05/2019 19:27

I always find it interesting that when you actually look at who has caught it they are vaccinated. So, what does this say?

dementedpixie · 20/05/2019 19:27

TheBreastmilksOnMe, don't talk bollocks. My 2 children are fully vaccinated and have had none of the diseases they have been vaccinated against

OwlMother · 20/05/2019 19:28

Ds1 (19) is at uni and has mumps currently. Was vaccinated. Apparently there's a bit of an outbreak there. Travelled to see him yesterday and he's a sorry sight.

IceRebel · 20/05/2019 19:29

Did he bank sperm the cycle before mumps affected him?

I can't imagine a 20 year old thinking about doing this, let alone paying to do so, just in case they catch mumps. Confused

It is interesting (and disappointing) that you can catch it even when you've had the vaccine.

Breastmilk, please explain more, if you know/think you know more. Don't just make a comment to wind people up.

Yourownpersonaljesus · 20/05/2019 19:33

My DD is at uni (in the SE) and had it 2 weeks ago. She had to miss her first exam. She was vaccinated. Thankfully she's fine now.

MayFayner · 20/05/2019 19:33

Well they do work, otherwise we wouldn’t have this thread. We would just accept mumps as a part of everyday life, like it was pre-vaccination.

A mumps outbreak is now newsworthy, where once it was commonplace.

Sorry for the obvious comment- some people on the thread seem to need a bit of extra help.

OwlMother · 20/05/2019 19:34

GP told DS1 that the mumps part of the vaccine is about 85% effective.

Nousernameforme · 20/05/2019 19:35

I think this states a case for older teen vaccs. Obviously if everyone was taking them up the disease would have been eradicated. Because they aren't, coupled with what looks to be lesser immunity, or possibly a mutation where the disease has been allowed to breed people are getting it again.

I hold every antivaccer personally responsible for this. There is no excuse for ignorance anymore. You can get online to spout your bollocks? Then you can get online to research the truth.

People are getting sick and dying and it is all their fault.

AllFourOfThem · 20/05/2019 19:38

Vaccinations aren’t 100% effective and they don’t necessarily protect you for life. I didn’t have MMR as a child (I’m too old) but had my rubella immunity checked when I was pregnant and because I wasn’t immune any longer have now had MMR as an adult. I just wish it was standard to have top up vaccinations as adults in the U.K.

Huggybear16 · 20/05/2019 19:39

Thanks a lot anti-vaxxers. Selfish, stupid and bloody dangerous group of arseholes.

OhDearGodLookAtThisMess · 20/05/2019 19:39

Is it the case that if you've been vaccinated then you're more likely to get a less severe dose of the disease if you do subsequently catch it?

HanarCantWearSweaters · 20/05/2019 19:40

I think posts like Breastmilk’s should be deemed to require deletion. Braying nonsense like that is a great deal more harmful than a post calling someone a cunt etc.

I think there is a case for any unvaccinated or part vaccinated young person to get a letter from the NHS at 16 giving their vaccination status and letting them know they have a right to get catch up vaccinations whenever they want.

ineedaknittedhat · 20/05/2019 19:44

If people think mumps and measles are bad, wait until polio and diphtheria make a return.

Sparklingbrook · 20/05/2019 19:46

To be honest I don’t know why I commented

Aaahahaha @TheBreastmilksOnMe

What you are doing is not research. It's reading shite on the internet - just like we're doing when reading your posts.
