I took it as the latter, though for my parents there was only a year in it and for DH's it is one and the same so it doesn't make a big difference to my answer!

SprogletsMum · 15/05/2019 21:42

They were both 42. My nan was only 62 when she had her first 3 great grandchildren.

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 15/05/2019 21:43

Both 53...my mum died when she was 54

Thats not a long time to spend with a much longed for grandchild

legolimb · 15/05/2019 21:46

DM was 50.

I'm the oldest and had the first grandchild.

I'm older than 50 now and no signs of being a grandparent for me yet thank god.

BarbaraofSevillle · 15/05/2019 21:52

DM, DSis and MIL all grandmothers at 39. BIL was a step grandparent in early 30s, as were a couple of others in extended family.

User11011 · 15/05/2019 21:52

Both 38

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 15/05/2019 21:55

About 20 years younger than I was! Late 40s, early 50s.
But my elder sister married and had dcs quite a bit younger than I did.

whiteroseredrose · 15/05/2019 22:00

DM was 55. DF had already died before then.

My DGM was 42 when I came along!

riotlady · 15/05/2019 22:03

SherlockSays · 15/05/2019 22:07

41 (mum) & 36 (dad).

My mum had my brother at 19 and he had his first son at 18 so my parents were grandparents really young.

Note that my dad is not my brother's biological father - that would have been all kinds of weird, seeing as he would have been 13 at the time my brother was born!

tinytemper66 · 15/05/2019 22:07

Mine were 40&45.
We are now 52 so will be older grandparents.

hopefulhalf · 15/05/2019 22:15

Mum was 55, Dad 57.

EnolaAlone · 15/05/2019 22:15

BagofTeeth · 15/05/2019 22:22

48 and 52.

I'm in my late 30s now and it feels weird that I have some friends becoming grandparents but others are just becoming parents. We're in the in between stage where we should hopefully have a good few years at least before becoming grandparents but no plans to start changing nappies again any time soon.

ShahOfSplosh · 15/05/2019 22:22
