Hi this is a picture that my daughter did and I'd be interested to read people's opinions on it. Thank you in advance.

How old do you think the child that created this is?
OP posts:
TrickyKid · 14/05/2019 22:35

Missed the post saying her age. I'd say this is great for a 6 year old regardless of it being copied.

ACPC · 14/05/2019 22:37

You never know where an interest can take them, my dd started off loving copying/drawing/colouring etc and now at 10 years old is doing oil paintings on her own wee eisleGrin
and making a bloody mess

FreeTedHastings · 14/05/2019 22:37

I think that's great for six, even for copying at six! Well done your DD.

Chopinaround · 14/05/2019 22:38

I would have guessed 7/8. That’s really really good for a 6 year old. Whoever said 3 must have an infant Leonardo. My 3 year old DGD is really good at drawing for her age but no way could she do anything like this.

MsPavlichenko · 14/05/2019 22:38

It's very good. Copied or not. I am in my fifties and have never been able to capture expression in any drawing/ painting I did!

When my DD was a similar age she drew Sooty and Sweep, and it was the expression in their faces that made me think she might have some artistic talent ( I have none at all!). Her Degree Show is next month.

EmmaC78 · 14/05/2019 22:39

I thought 7 or 8 when I saw it so it is good for a 6 year old.

crazyasafox · 14/05/2019 22:40

Yeah about 8-10 y.o. Cute pic! 🦄

DuffBeer · 14/05/2019 22:40

3?! Grin

My child could barely draw a straight line at 3!

It's very good OP, way better than I could have done at six, or now for that matter!

ssd · 14/05/2019 22:42

It's very good, I couldn't draw like that

Bedforaweek · 14/05/2019 22:43

Very good for a 6 year old! My 8 year old could not copy anywhere near as well. She got all the proportions right etc.
She is talented!

aquamarine1 · 14/05/2019 22:44

That is seriously brilliant for a 6 year old!

Dinosaursdontgrowontrees · 14/05/2019 22:45

I work with 5yr olds and none of the children could produce anything near this. It is fantastic. Well done to your daughter!

BlueCornishPixie · 14/05/2019 22:46

Lol 3 Grin

I reckon some people definitely look at these and then minus about 10 years!

I would have said 10 OP. Even if its a copy it's a really good drawing! The lines are smooth, which I would say shows skill at 6 and the expression on the face is really good! I'd be very proud of her for that!

Lightnightsannoyingme · 14/05/2019 22:57

Ha - I read the OP and made a small bet with myself about how many posts it would be before someone said "3"! Some right tossers on here. Sure, nobody likes bragging, but sometimes there's just a nice excited parent like the OP who's pleased that their child might excel in something for once, and it's boring when people rush to do the whole "Your child sounds very very average - every toddler I know was reading Steinbeck at 18 months. In Finnish" .

It's a very good picture, OP. And being artistic is a fantastic gift to have - she'll never be bored!

lboogy · 14/05/2019 23:20

7/8

TreaterAnita · 14/05/2019 23:24

I think that’s brilliant for 6 OP, definitely a talent to encourage.

NewYoiker · 14/05/2019 23:44

27 1/2

thegreatcrestednewt · 15/05/2019 09:13

That's fab for 6, OP! Well done to your dd!

I'd definitely encourage her. Drawing is so calming and relaxing (when it goes well...)

Rory786 · 15/05/2019 12:01

Its fantastic Op for a 6yr old.

Aquilla · 15/05/2019 12:12

9 and upwards. Pay no attention to the idiots saying deliberately young ages.

Parvuli · 15/05/2019 12:15

That’s amazing for 6 - even copied!

gubbsywubbsy · 15/05/2019 12:16

She is doing very well for 6.. my dd is excellent at art ( predicted 8/9 in her gcse ) and I would say that's very good for a 6 year old girl ..
Interesting that she is behind in other areas , I would think that's makes her art very special , being very dextrous goes along with being very able in my experience .

Lost5stone · 15/05/2019 12:19

3 Grin...My DD is nearly 3 and can just about manage a triangle, but not a very good one!

Lindtnotlint · 15/05/2019 12:25

It’s great. Waaaay better than my just turned six year old. My three year old can’t draw a circle. I was going to say 8 or 9 before I saw your update.
