Possible lost Tampon

I've name changed for this

I think I've got a tampon wedged up my foof. It's 10 days since I started my period but still been getting watery/bloody discharge, and quite a lot of it, which isn't usual at all. I also feel a bit itchy down there.

Thought I'd try the old natural yoghurt on a tampon trick in case it's thrush but really didn't feel comfortable so gave up. Had a poke around and think I can feel something. If it is a tampon it's been in there for about a weekBlush.

I'm horrified. I'm going to have to go and have it retrieved aren't I?

How did I manage to do this🤦‍♀️

My friend works in a GUM clinic and apparently it’s surprisingly common. She says tampons are the most normal thing they find up there Shock

BooksAreMyOnlyFriends · 11/05/2019 22:14

Try getting in a bath and relax and gave a really good feel around. Or squat on the floor and bear down as if you're giving birth to see if it shifts enough for you to grab it. If not the gp/nurse will whip it out.

Lostbutnotfound · 11/05/2019 22:26

Had another poke. Pretty certain there is a tampon there. I can't get a grip on it and I'm tensing up. Really want to get it out myself. The thought of having to go to gp surgery is mortifying, but obviously I would if it won't budge. Bloody bastard tampons.

After 10 days there will be a very "distinctive aroma" when it is removed... Envy(not envy)

Pipandmum · 11/05/2019 22:40

Yes it’s common thing but you need it out. Go to nurse at your GP if you can’t do it. Don’t be embarrassed they’ve seen it all.

Lostbutnotfound · 11/05/2019 22:42

If I can't shift it tomorrow, then I'll call the surgery first thing on Monday. Poor nurse. It's going to be grim.

I dread to think what the less normal things might be!

Everythingmagnolia · 11/05/2019 22:44

Don't worry about the nurse, they are used to dealing with things like this

teapleasethanks · 11/05/2019 22:46

This happened to me! Was up there for ages, only realised when there was a right grim smell, went to the doctor/nurse and they took it out and lobbed it in the hazardous waste Grinin less than no time! They've seen it loads of times apparently, good luck!

coffeeaddiction · 11/05/2019 22:47

Do you have a partner that could help you ? Probably easier to get hold of it from a different angle than you can do yourself

coffeegrounds · 11/05/2019 22:49

Omg DO NOT leave this until Monday!!

It's not a wait it out situation. Serious risk of TSS. It needs out ASAP.

mushforbrain · 11/05/2019 22:57

I had this. Totally forgot to remove a tampon/thought I’d already removed it. Ended up with hideous stinky discharge which was clear and watery, bleeding after sex, I started thinking I had cervical cancer and went to the drs in a right state. However I also had a sneaky suspicion and asked if while doing the swabs she could have a look for a tampon (I’d already searched myself as far as I could go) Lo and behold it was shoved up between the wall of my cervix and wall of vagina apparently there’s a bit of a pocket there. I was beyond mortified. Honestly dying of embarrassment at how gross it all was - had been there FIVE weeks. She didn’t blink an eye and said better that than cervical cancer.
I spent the rest of the day horrified but relieved then next day was over it. Go. They’ve seen/smelt worse (like me Blush)

itscallednickingbentcoppers · 11/05/2019 23:44

Ah who hasn't had this really? Hazards of shoving things up your foof, sometimes
You forget about them!

DianaPrincessOfThemyscira · 12/05/2019 00:34

I had one up there for two weeks once. I was ill over Christmas, got my period and then obviously forgot. It was the stench that alerted me - I had to wash the cover of my sofa Blush.

I managed to get it out by squatting, bearing down and hooking it out with a finger. Thank god or I would have been going to the doc in the morning.

originallyfromLA · 12/05/2019 00:59

I had this once too! I couldn't understand why sex was suddenly making me bleed weird amounts and something just felt off. I got my dh to check and sure enough there was a stray tampon stuck up there. The smell was absolutely hideous and the tampon itself was a grey colour and totally swollen. It reminded me of a dead mouse 😱

Lostbutnotfound · 12/05/2019 06:49

I have asked DH if he fancies helping me out, but funnily enough he's declined.

Reassuring to read your rogue tampon stories.

I'd been thinking of getting a menstrual cup for a while. Will be ordering one this week.

Going to attempt extraction again today, but will deffo be calling the docs tomorrow if no joy. Going to be fun telling the receptionist why I need to be seen Blush

OP, please get medical help today if you cannot get it out. Don't wait any longer.

TabbyStar · 12/05/2019 07:50

Definitely recommend bath - worked for, er, a friend....

eurochick · 12/05/2019 07:50

Squat down on your haunches and have a rummage.

Pinkyyy · 12/05/2019 07:55

OP I'm going to repeat what others have said and advise you NOT to wait until tomorrow. You need to get it out ASAP.

youarenotkiddingme · 12/05/2019 08:25

I once finished my period and removed the tampon and didn't reinsert another.

2 weeks later another one came out when j did a poo that wasn't keen on exiting Blush

I had obviously been wearing 2 - and hadnt even noticed!

pineapplepatty · 12/05/2019 08:39

I had one stuck for a month without realising. It came out when my next period started.

Looked like a dead grey stinking mouse Envy

SpaceCadet4000 · 12/05/2019 08:45

When I was about 14 I had a hard time pulling a tampon out and 2 came out at once. It was the first day of my period though, and I couldn't remember inserting a tampon that morning. Still don't know whether it had been in there for 4 weeks or 8 hours... I use a menstrual cup now!

Good luck OP, but get it seen to asap if you can't get it out yourself today.

SmellMySmellbow · 12/05/2019 08:48

TSS can kill. Please don't wait. Dedicate a couple of hours now to trying then go to OOH if no joy.

Sexnotgender · 12/05/2019 08:48
