Do you or do you know others who take cocaine?

I have been surprised reading here about people talking about taking cocaine. I don't know anyone who does and I never have. I have never been offered coke either. I know two people who used to take cocaine, but both of them say they used to take everything going. But apart from them, no one.
What about you?

Lots who have.

DramaAlpaca · 11/05/2019 11:04

I've never come across it either.

StormcloakNord · 11/05/2019 11:05

I used to, quite a lot actually.

Stopped after DD and haven't touched the stuff since!

MitziTheTabbyIsMyOverlord · 11/05/2019 11:06

I've never known how to buy it, but I've been given it by friends in the past. I'm a bit old for that now.

However, I'm regularly a professional in meetings when people say they've taken it/others [such as partners or exs) have/have tested positive for it.
It seems to be VERY common. I don't know where they buy it from

aweedropofsancerre · 11/05/2019 11:06

I know lots of people that do. Live in London and lots of hardcore ravers from the 90s still dabble even though they are now very middle class and live in wealthy areas! I heard a story of a successful actor donating money to the local state primary to help with a new kitchen and on the opening night he was found snorting cocaine off the new silver kitchen!

PointlessUsername · 11/05/2019 11:06

I know lots who do.

Never taken anything myself.

Cocaine turns people into self absorbed knobs as far as i can tell.

Littlechocola · 11/05/2019 11:07

Not cocaine. I never have but have friends that do. It’s nev appealed to me.

Ellabella989 · 11/05/2019 11:09

I took it a few times as a teenager. Most people I went to school with dabbled with it. I don’t have friends who do it now but I know many older people who still do things like LSD and magic mushrooms etc when they do things like go to gigs or festivals

notacooldad · 11/05/2019 11:10

I don't know anyone that takes cocaine now.
I have a couple of co workers that were addicts about 30 years ago and not touched the stuff decades however their experiences are helpful in supporting families that are going through difficult times through drug abuse.
At least their experiences are supporting others.

SimonJT · 11/05/2019 11:11

Quite a few of my friends and colleague use it, I personally haven’t since becoming a parent.

RainbowWaffles · 11/05/2019 11:13

A lot of people including plenty of teachers, lawyers, accountants and even some judges. It really has become so common in society now it’s like the new cannabis. Having said that, once everyone has children the frequency of said cocaine use has tends to dwindle to negligible/ non existent.

BertieBotts · 11/05/2019 11:13

No, not currently. I tried it once when I was 18, never had any inclination or opportunity since, and DS1's dad used to take it, but I wouldn't say I "know him" any more and I've no idea if he still does.

But having said that my circle of friends is quite "mumsy" now and I'd be hard pressed to guess at anyone who even smokes weed - but if pushed I could probably identify a few likelies and I would definitely be able to find a chain of supply if I so wanted to.

LazyFace · 11/05/2019 11:20

No, I haven't met anyone who's taken any. Not that it's something I talk about.

clairemcnam · 11/05/2019 11:20

i know plenty of people who don't have kids though. Maybe I am just not middle class enough to know the cocaine users?

OP posts:
Zoflorabore · 11/05/2019 11:21

It's everywhere where I live. I've spoken about this on here before but several of my neighbours have a massive Coke habit and it's almost like an epidemic in certain circles.

I have taken it myself in the past. I have quite an addictive personality and when I realised how stupid I was being i worried how I would be when not doing it again but I've never once gave it a second thought.
The people who I know that take it will lie through their back teeth over how much they use, loads of risky behaviour, terrible
comedowns and in the worst case, neglecting their children to the point that me and another neighbour had to talk to her and offered support. It's a nasty, evil drug that destroys lives all through the supply chain.

gamerwidow · 11/05/2019 11:25

I used to at parties in my 20s and 30s and I know people who still do it occasionally. I haven’t since I had DD but I don’t really do clubbing and parties every weekend either anymore.

Notverygrownup · 11/05/2019 11:26

For the first time ever, the other day, my ds19 and ds16 told me that I am out of touch/out of date, because I didn't know how widespread cocaine use is amongst teens. Apparently it is the new cannabis and is very very widely used. Sad

GertrudeCB · 11/05/2019 11:27

I haven't taken it but it seems rife amongst my younger work colleagues.
What does it actually feel like?

Ninkaninus · 11/05/2019 11:27

I’ve never taken anything - I’ve never even tried a cigarette.

I know of people who do/have, and I would expect that a sizeable cross-section of my colleague’s (big office) do.

CrumbsCrumbsEverywhere · 11/05/2019 11:27

Never done it myself but I know lots of people who have or still do.

Ninkaninus · 11/05/2019 11:28

Ffs this bloody autocorrect!! colleagues

goodwinter · 11/05/2019 11:29

Coke, no. Weed, yes. Fwiw my social group are all mid-20's/mid-30's with no kids.

Passthecherrycoke · 11/05/2019 11:30

A few and lots who have when they were younger. It’s all a bit 2002 and now that it’s dirt cheap and kids in sink towns are spending their time taking it in whetherspoons it’s lost it’s designer drug label and appeal amongst the people I know at least

SlimGin · 11/05/2019 11:40

Yes, I'm 26 and most of my old friends do on a night out. I also work in the hospitality industry and lots of people taking coke on shift as well as a night out. Lots of customers ask staff to sort them out with Coke, too. Even if they're just coming for a nice dinner.
It's so so prevalent now I'm never shocked to hear someone's taking it.

Iamnobirdandnonetensnaresme · 11/05/2019 11:42

Once you can see the signs in someone who has taken it you will realise how many people around you do.

It is shocking.
Dh is quite naive in someways and has never done any drugs, I had the odd spliff as a teen but realising the number of people who use cocaine is something else.

We live in a naice area but it really is everywhere. In the pub, in restaurants, at pta parties(small catholic primary)
