As Parklife turns 25 [old duffer emoticon] this year!

Mine are:

Out of Time
On Your Own
All Your Life
Chemical World
For Tomorrow
To The End
Coffee and TV

Probably loads more I can't think of right now

I know they first formed in the late 70s (which I remember being agog about as a teenager) but Pulp's heyday was in the 90s. They were touching Britpop without being it I suppose. Similar to Suede.

Tender (especially the live version with everyone singing along near the end and the gospel choir), This Is A Low, and weirdly Caravan from the Think Tank album for when it’s a rainy day and I’m nicely melancholy.

Mythreefavouritethings · 03/05/2019 21:44

Scrub that, I’ll say You’re So Great. Perfect love song! I’ll bugger off now.

windysowindy · 03/05/2019 21:45

The Universal ❤️

RuffleCrow · 03/05/2019 21:51

Digsy's Dinner is my favourite Oasis song - and I sing it to my kids literally every time I make Lasagne Grin

Also love Whatever for the sheer don't-give-a-fuck attitude. And Wonderwall because I can remember the exact moment i heard it for the first time in my teenage bedroom and had to crank my little cd/radio up to 11. Ah, those were the days Wink

I was also there singing at the top of my lungs at Blur's Hyde Park 2012, feeling like a right ole duffer (I was only 31 what was I thinking?!!)

As for Oasis- Cigarettes and Alcohol whacked up full blast til you feel it in yer water.

RuffleCrow · 03/05/2019 21:53

I used to love You're So Great but it's the song my ex and I had our first kiss to (in 1997!) So i've had to scrub it from my mental playlist Sad

Love Blur.
I will say Out of Time at the moment, as it is playing, as I cuddle ds to sleep. It is a song that always makes me feel a swell of sadness.

Laodamia · 03/05/2019 21:56

Cigarettes and Alcohol does have a good swaggery intro.

Minttea2 · 03/05/2019 21:59

I love Blue, my all time favourite band and have influenced my music taste since I was a child. My all time favourite Blur song is Best Days. Sad but beautiful

Minttea2 · 03/05/2019 22:00

Aaargh Blur, not Blue!!

Mythreefavouritethings · 03/05/2019 22:00

Oh no, you need to clear those memories. Bad enough breaking up, without them buggering up the best songs as well 🤦‍♀️

Laodamia · 03/05/2019 22:01

Blue! Grin Grin

If your heart belongs to Lee Ryan, your heart belongs to Lee Ryan.

Littlepond · 03/05/2019 22:02

Sunday Sunday here again in tidy attire
You read the colour supplement the TV guide

SingingSands · 03/05/2019 22:06

To the End.

Used to stuff my Walkman in my coat pocket and take the poor dog on long, angsty teenage walks listening to that.

Poor dog was very understanding. Snort.

RuffleCrow · 03/05/2019 22:07

Grin at blue - that Duncan bloke was very Brad Pitt-ish. I don't blame you

God it makes me feel so nostalgic. I HATE HOW TIME HAS PASSED! I find it hard listening to some of these songs but love them all.

RuffleCrow · 03/05/2019 22:10

Oh my goodness Minttea you're my Blur soulmate! Best Days!!! How could i forget that one?! Wine

Miss America. There's No Other Way, She's So High (taught DS the chorus aged 3), For Tomorrow.

ErrmWTAF · 03/05/2019 22:15

To the End
The Universal

I love them all, but those two are the most gorgeous.

Sharpcattlegridheavyhat · 03/05/2019 22:15

Blue Jeans is the song I always go back to the most.

JustAnotherMNUserPassing · 03/05/2019 22:16

Country House- number 1 the day I was born!
Parklife - I too get rudely awakened by the dustmen on Wednesdays

NigellasGuest · 03/05/2019 22:18

Oh yes, She's So High
How could I forget that

RuffleCrow · 03/05/2019 22:23

Yy to Blue Jeans and Miss America - so dreamy and languid but both paint a vivid picture. Glitterball

I'm with you sharpcattlegrid. Time has to be a lie, right? These songs seem to exist in a sort of eternal 'now' that we can all tap into. Or maybe an eternal 'then'?
