Shittest family meal you've ever served?

We came in from the park after school this evening close to tea time, the baby was screaming for a nap, I'm knackered and DH was late home from work.
I gave zero fucks and served up a pot of houmous, a few random breadsticks, a chopped up orange pepper, two packets of plain crisps 'decanted' into a bowl, a chopped up pear and some olives.

Felt a bit guilty afterwards and made everyone a hot chocolate.

Make me feel better - what's the shittest 'can't be arsed' meal you've made?

Intentionally shit or accidentally?

I have had bad days where I've thrown everything I can find in the freezer (chicken nuggets, spring rolls, fish fingers, sesame prawn toast, etc) on baking trays and served it with carrot sticks, cucumber slices and a threatening expression. The kids have learned to read me well enough to phone their father to bring a takeaway home on those kinds of days.

But the winner is still the jerk chicken I carefully prepared according to the instructions on the side of the jar many, many years ago when I was young and in love. He accused me of trying to kill him.

SoundofSilence We too recently had a run in with jerk chicken, rice and mixed beans. It was like a trombone convention on our house that even, we had to sleep with the windows open and the fan on.

In our house that evening *

Chicken nuggets on a Frisbee? Parenting fucking genius mate.

Never put star anise in ragout. Do not wash mince.

You served chopped up pear? Don't you mean 'cutted up pear'? Grin

Karwomannghia · 01/05/2019 16:45

I had the same thought!

Thestral · 01/05/2019 16:45

@racewhorse I'll take your word for that one! Grin

Cutter-up pear is always a win right? X
