Brands that just can't be swapped out

I'm taking food.

For example, I'm yet to find a decent alternative to Quavers. Supermarket brands are crap!

Ditto Marmite

Ketchup and beans! You cannot beat heinz, I can even smell the difference!

Teakind · 01/05/2019 12:42

Ketchup, Lurpak and Yeo Valley Greek yoghurt with honey

Ronsters · 01/05/2019 13:30

Heinz beans and ketchup. M&S's own brand salad cream is better than Heinz though.

TwistinMyMelon · 01/05/2019 13:42

@HollowTalk yeah I know - I'm a tub, but I still find it really hard to spread. My French exp used to buy it, but I found it had to be left out of the fridge for a bit to be useable...

bringincrazyback · 01/05/2019 13:44

Coke, Red Bull, and anything by Cadbury's or Heinz.

Drogosnextwife · 01/05/2019 13:46

Hellman's mayo
Tomato sauce
Walker's crisps

Drogosnextwife · 01/05/2019 13:47

Oh definitely coke.

Drogosnextwife · 01/05/2019 13:49

Oh and fairy liquid, it really does last longer 😂

Drogosnextwife · 01/05/2019 13:51

Have yet to try a supermarket own ground coffee that's as good as the Starbucks one.

PuppyMonkey · 01/05/2019 13:52

Warburton’s Toastie white bread - the orange packet. Unsurpassed.

And I’ve tried ddog on numerous other brands of food, but giving him anything other than ludicrously expensive Royal Canin results in him getting enormous runny shits which is not a pretty experience for anyone Shock

BillywigSting · 01/05/2019 14:17

Branston beans (definitely not overly sweet and watery heinz!)
Fairy non bio laundry pods (otherwise ds's eczema gets so bad he bleeds all over the sheets)
Fairy washing up liquid
Sensodyne toothpaste
Kerrygold or lurpak butter (sorry to pp, but danpak is gross)
Proper diet coke
Lavazza coffee
Barry's tea (which my local supermarket has recently started stocking because of an influx of travellers)
Tayto crisps
Helmann's mayonnaise

When I had a cat, only whiskers would do, she would turn her nose up, quite literally, at anything else, and proceed to go and hunt a pigeon or two to eat instead, the half eaten remains of which would be left in her food bowl while she gave us disdainful looks for daring to feed her something else.

narcissistseverywhere · 01/05/2019 14:27

Not that bothered about brands, but DCats have to have Whiskas or Felix. Mueller fruit corner yogurt is far superior to the Aldi version. Roses lime juice is also a must. Anything else, crisps, beans, ketchup, mayo etc. I'm happy to eat non-branded.

Whathappenedtothelego · 01/05/2019 14:51

Coca Cola is irreplaceable, but I seldom drink it. At times it is the only thing that will do, though.

Sauce must be HP

Never even dreamt of own brand marmite Shock

Cream cheese, cottage cheese and cream must be Longley Farm.

Crisps must be Walkers Ready Salted.

Yoghurt must be Tim's Dairy (v hard to find, so I basically never eat yoghurt).

Butter must be either Lurpak or President.

PatricksRum · 02/05/2019 06:13

Dr Oetker's Ristorante Margherita pizza!
Coke/ Pepsi
Sacla Pesto** - feel so strongly about that. If anyone had any alternatives let me know!
M&S grated parmesan

SapphireSeptember · 02/05/2019 06:33

I am going to commit heresy here, I prefer own brand yeast extract to real Marmite!

I actually buy mostly own brand stuff, although Pringles are my favourite crisps.

CigarsofthePharoahs · 02/05/2019 06:47

Branston Baked beans. Even Heinz taste watery in comparison.
Either diet Coke or Pepsi Max. Oddly enough I don't like diet pepsi or coke zero.
McCain fries. They taste so good and supermarket own brand always end up soggy.
Birdseye waffles.

Fivefootoffun · 02/05/2019 06:47

In our house:

Coke Zero/Diet Coke
Heinz Ketchup
Kettle chips (although buy value range tortilla chips)
Magnums and Cornettos (DH has vetoed all the supermarket own brands)
Hovis thick wholemeal

Love Waitrose essential baked beans and their weetabix. Love their tortilla wraps too albeit not much cheaper than branded.

M and S essential tea bags we like.

Aldi dupe of Total Greek yoghurt has saved me a fortune!

MyCatHogsTheBed · 02/05/2019 06:55

Branston baked beans taste cheap to me, can't understand all the love they're getting on here 😂

Branston pickle though, there is nothing like 😁

Nescafe azera is the only instant coffee I will drink. When it comes to proper coffee beans I'm not nearly as fussy! 😳

Other than that I'm an own brands type of person.

Passthecake30 · 02/05/2019 07:11

Hellmans Mayo, shredded wheat, shreddies, cheerios, weetabix, Heinz tomato soup, bournville cocoa powder, all crisps, green giant tinned sweet corn (for salads, frozen is fine when hot), branston beans and probably many more.
I generally stock up when these items go on offer, which is often, thankfully.

Happynow001 · 02/05/2019 09:57
  • Green & Black cocoa powder
  • Waitrose dark rye & wheat sourdough bread
llangennith · 02/05/2019 09:59

I'm quite happy with Tesco's marmite

SauvingnonBlanketyBlanc · 02/05/2019 10:16

Heinz ketchup
Heinz salad cream
Warbutons bread
Golden fry gravy granules

SauvingnonBlanketyBlanc · 02/05/2019 10:17

@Passthecake30 DJ said hed only eat hellmans but I snuck lidls own full fat in a sandwich and he didn't say a word, its worth a swap if u have a lidl near youSmile

SauvingnonBlanketyBlanc · 02/05/2019 10:17

SauvingnonBlanketyBlanc · 02/05/2019 10:18
