Brands that just can't be swapped out

I'm taking food.

For example, I'm yet to find a decent alternative to Quavers. Supermarket brands are crap!

Ditto Marmite

OP posts:

Heinz ketchup

Branston beans.

Couple of years ago I would have added Marmite but then I tried the Asda version and prefer it. More like Marmite used to be, nice and thick and £1 a jar cheaper

Hate Hellmans, got to be Tesco mayo.

Lea and Perrins.. is there even an alternative?

Persil or Bold, everything else makes me itch.

And another vote for Red label tea. Used to buy Yorkshire tea but these days it seems to taste muddy.

Philadelphia. Cheapies are ok for cooking but if it's for bread or crackers then it must be Philly.

Can’t believe this I was thinking about this today! Love Lidl cleaning brands but must have
HP
Bisto
Heinz mayonnaise
Elnette hairspray
Dove face soap
Domestos
Don’t mind supermarket crisps

Zoflorabore · 30/04/2019 01:18

Cans of Diet Coke
Yorkshire tea bags
Cathedral city mature cheese
Dairylea original
Robinsons NAS double strength juice
Mission deli wraps
Cadburys chocolate eclairs
Domestos bleach ( promise I don't drink it! )

There's probably more but I can't think due to severe insomnia.

PyongyangKipperbang · 30/04/2019 01:39

Marmite deffo

And Heinz mayo. It is sharper/more vinegary than Hellmans and any of the own brands. I havent found a cheaper one that is as nice.

Apart from that I can't think of anything, I am the swap out queen!

PyongyangKipperbang · 30/04/2019 01:43

I stand corrected.... Coke of course.

And decent tonic (but not fevertree, its not bitter enough). I was told by a Gin expert at a work thing that if you have to economise drink cheap gin with decent tonic but NEVER the other way around, and dont drink slimline. And she was right!

SpamChaudFroid · 30/04/2019 09:42

Stokes ketchup - makes all other ketchups seem miserable.

SpamChaudFroid · 30/04/2019 09:44

Oh, and Crosta and Mollica pizza bases. Perfect chewyness/crispness/thinness.

SpamChaudFroid · 30/04/2019 09:45

...and Bisto Best gravy granules.

Jinglejanglefish · 30/04/2019 09:51

Heinz ketchup. Don't think I'm particularly loyal to anything else.

gully24 · 30/04/2019 10:00

Warburtons crumpets

Nothing else comes close. Deep and pillowy and delicious.

Babyfoal · 30/04/2019 10:00

Mcvities digestive biscuits

Kelsoooo · 30/04/2019 10:10

Coffee, all own brand tastes awful, as does Nescafé original.

Red Bull, nothing compares. Other brands taste awful.

Walker's crisps.

AlexaAmbidextra · 30/04/2019 10:59

M&S spreadable butter. So much better than Lurpak.

CitadelsofScience · 30/04/2019 11:37

Bistro Best gravy, even regular Bisto is yuk.
Jacobs cream crackers, recently tried Aldi ones, yuk.
HP sauce, not me but my husband.
Heinz salad cream, ditto husband above.
Yorkshire tea.
Bertolli olive oil spread, Aldi version, yuk.
Marmite, picked us Asda one, yuk.

FishJelly · 01/05/2019 05:48

Branston beans (never thought I'd buy anything but Heinz until had once at MIL's expecting to be awful like all the other ones she usually bought!!)
Lancashire Farm natural yogurt - wish this was stocked more widely as big determinant of where I shop

Fozzleyplum · 01/05/2019 05:56

Lavazza
Yorkshire Gold tea
Frank Cooper's vintage marmalade
Felix as good as it looks cat food.

I'm happy with Aldi or Lidl for everything else.

ChocomelandRinglings · 01/05/2019 06:30

Marmite and Lurpak Lighter.

You can keep your President butter, sorry. Tried it and it’s not as nice. My friend’s daughter tried to tell me I was common because I have ‘butter in a tub’ and real butter comes in a President wrapper 😂 She knows nothing!

BlueMerchant · 01/05/2019 06:42

Agree Lurpack
Heinz beans/Spaghetti/Soups
Uncle Ben's Rice- strangely superior can't beat it.
Ragu
Nutella
Robinson's dilute orange
Coke
Schwepps lenonade

MalevolentPrawn · 01/05/2019 06:52

Hellmans. Irreplaceable.

TwistinMyMelon · 01/05/2019 06:54

@HollowTalk - president butter is lovely but isn't spreadable from the fridge

TwistinMyMelon · 01/05/2019 06:57

Diet Coke. Even hate Pepsi.

lightlypoached · 01/05/2019 06:58

Maldon sea salt. Crumbly and delicious. All others hard and not nice.

lightlypoached · 01/05/2019 06:58

Maile Dijon mustard. 😁

lightlypoached · 01/05/2019 07:01

Carr's water biscuits. Never beaten

cricketmum84 · 01/05/2019 07:11

@lightlypoached oh yes! Also Cornish wafers!
