Partners 30th this year, I can't think of a present that is special enough, so what did you do for your 30th? Or what did you get your other half's for there's?

We bought each other watches, I needed a new one so asked for it and then I guess I thought I'd reciprocate. I didn't realise he never wore them as we only met that year. I don't think he wore it once. But for the right person I still think watches make a good gift.

I took my boyfriend to the Caribbean to an adults only all inclusive resort for his 40th. He thought we were going to Spain.

Maybe a nice break or if he has a hobby then something related to that.

RavenLG · 25/04/2019 12:44

For mine (and DPs 31st) we went trampolining with friends at one of those indoor places. It was such a laugh, felt like kids, then after about 20 minutes felt like a genuine granny because I was knackered and ached everywhere. We then had a bbq and drinks at ours on the evening and a handful went into town. For DPs 30th I bought him a 'penguin experience' at chester zoo where he got to go and feed the penguins etc. He loves penguins. He then got me a capybara experience at cotswold wildlife as they're my favourite. We tend to do 'experience' gifts like that or gig tickets etc rather than something physical though so my waffle might not be useful lol.

IchHabeDurst · 25/04/2019 12:45

I bought him a tank driving experience day because he loves tanks and had a replica model of his favourite tank commissioned to commemorate the day. I also arranged a day out in London together with us only visiting places of interest to him and arranged for a big meal and piss up at the weekend with all his friends Grin

I got a fancy watch and driving experience at a race track!

MustardScreams · 25/04/2019 12:47

Went to Bristol and hired a big Air Bnb for the weekend with all of my favourite people. It was excellent! I had been dreading turning 30 so a big blowout was a good way to say goodbye to my 20’s.

Nowisthemonthofmaying · 25/04/2019 12:49

I bought my DH 30 different presents for his 30th, some just little things, some experiences like festivals and days out, some homemade vouchers for massages etc etc. I do love present buying though.

Didn't know DH when I hit 30, but for my bday I hired a country house in Wales and 25 friends came for a weekend of walks, big meals etc. It was great!

BusterTheBulldog · 25/04/2019 12:49

Lunch at Claridges and saw a fav and hard to get tickets for band on the evening.

For his we went to Olympic Games 4x400m finals evening.

I think a great experience is the way to go, or a good, lasting piece of jewellery.

RainbowMum11 · 25/04/2019 12:53

I got married shortly after my 30th so didn't want to overdo it it for people because of my hen do etc, so we just went to a local pizza restaurant with a big group of friends - was a BYOB place to keep the £ down for everyone too - it was perfect.
(Went roller skating for my hen do!!)

RainbowMum11 · 25/04/2019 12:54

Oh, and H2B bought me diamond earrings which I chose when we were buying our wedding rings.

Xyzzzzz · 25/04/2019 12:55

We went away for each other’s 30th.

calilark · 25/04/2019 12:57

Erm nothing fancy at all. I was newly pregnant and puking a lot, we were skint. We stayed in a YHA down in Cornwall right by the beach in the middle of winter, it was great and rainy but fantastic. He bought me a painting by a local artist. It was lovely (bar the morning sickness), albeit slightly uncomfy on a YHA double bed!

archivearmadillo · 25/04/2019 13:03

I was heavily pregnant with dc1, we went out for an early teetotal dinner, just DH and I. I was at work during the day.

Does your DH expect fireworks and a Ferrari? I'm not sure ostentatious and expensive is what everyone wants! However if you always make a big deal of birthdays I can see you might have painted yourself into a corner and feel you need to outdo ordinary birthdays with a 30th...

What have you both done for each other on previous birthdays?

MyNameIsFartacus · 25/04/2019 13:15

Cried all day then pulled myself together and went to the cinema - worst birthday ever for a variety of reasons!

SellFridges · 25/04/2019 13:18

I was newly pregnant which scuppered our plans go to the Champagne region and drink lots! We had a garden party, DH and I went to Cornwall and watched Calvin Harris at the Eden Project, and also went to Center Parcs with a big group.

I took DH to The Fat Duck.

40ths looming for us so need to get planning!

PH03b3 · 25/04/2019 13:20

I was taken on an holiday of a lifetime it was honestly the best place ive been and i can't wait for OH 40th to do something like that for him for my OH i had just met him took him to a European beach holiday

ItWentInMyEye · 25/04/2019 13:21

Me and DP didn't do anything spectacular, but for my SIL I got the family to club together to pay for a helicopter flight with champagne and she bloody loved it!

TotheletterofthelawTHELETTER · 25/04/2019 13:22

I went to new york

OhMrTumnus · 25/04/2019 13:23

I took him to Paris for the weekend and he took me to Barcelona for mine.

Dollywilde · 25/04/2019 13:29

I turned 30 yesterday!! DH bought me a watch and took me to a Michelin starred restaurant.

When it was his a few years ago, I bought him a watch and took him for a foodie weekend away - think we would have done that for mine too but we’re just back from holiday so no point! As it is dinner last night cost as much as the weekend away did Blush

mum11970 · 25/04/2019 13:30

Nothing special that I can remember. Haven’t done anything significant for any major birthdays I’ve had. Dh had a surprise party for his 50th and some experience days.

TheQueef · 25/04/2019 13:35

Accidentally ended up in skegness.
Pal was a foster carer and her dp had let her down so she needed help on her holiday.
Got roaring drunk, ate dodgy Chinese food and was ill for a week.

sashh · 25/04/2019 13:35

Spent the day on a Harley in Western Australia, then went for a chinese in the evening.

sanmiguel · 25/04/2019 13:38

Had a small baby and a very low key gathering! So for my 40th, I'd always planned to go to New York with the baby that disrupted my 30th celebrations (!) and it was perfect.... Got bought amongst other things, a nice watch and a necklace.

Husband's 30th was a weekend in the Uk and a party. For his 40th, I'll prob get him a nice watch and he'd like a 'special' long haul holiday that we'd not usually have.

BendydickCuminsnatch · 25/04/2019 13:41

I’m turning 30 in November, going to Norway to see the fjords with DH and the 2 kids, then as my present DH is taking me to New York in the new year (mainly so he can go to sports matches and is passing it off as a present for me 🤣). In my dreams we have a bigger house and more friends and so I would host a dinner or party or something 😄

Beetlebum1981 · 25/04/2019 13:51

I went to a Michelin star restaurant and stayed the night - I put all my birthday money towards it and DH topped it up.
