I assume they have been fortunate enough to never have been on the breadline.

Money makes things so so much more easier. Yes everyone has problems but if you have money you can throw money at it at least. Granted not everything can be helped with money but alot can.

I was told this today by someone and it just really pisses me off!

That assumes the metric for 'everything' is happiness though cycling. But if 'everything' were health, then we can see a measurable increase in life expectancy with each and every step up the income ladder, so that even if you are in the top 80% income bracket, those in the 90% bracket can be expected to outlive you.

It doesn't follow the happiness curve at all, which I found surprising.

When I had no money it consumed my thoughts all my waking hours it was such an emotional strain

I’m just thankful I didn’t have ds then

Money may not save you from awful life events but it certainly makes life far far more comfortable
