We do egg rolling. It’s brilliant, we spent all day yesterday decorating and will go out today to see who has the champion egg. We are also going to try launching them with a bottle rocket this year, we’ve made astronaut eggs and made ways to try and keep them safe, whoever’s survives wins.

I don’t have social media so no one is subjected to our Easter frivolity!

Astronaut eggs sound great!

It must be my age, but as a child in the late 50s/early 60's, I can never recall any mention of an easter bunny at all. Lambs, baby rabbits, primroses, daffs etc were the easter themes (we were atheists, so Jesus didn't figure), and of course an easter egg (just one each though). But a specific large bunny bringing said eggs? No.
I think a pp is correct in saying it has everything to do with marketing, rather than American influences. Shops want to sell, kids have pester power. Hence the comercialisation of Halloween, which was never a thing in my childhood. I had never even heard of it until I was about 8. I expect there are various marketing departments thinking up new things they can make money out of - May Day madness or a wild Whitsun perhaps.

I must admit yesterday I did have a bit of a wobble because pretty much 90% of the parents on my social media had done Easter egg hunts, gifts left from Easter bunny, dressing up, Easter parades, the whole hog.

Oh it's all the Fakebook perfect parents trying to convince us all of their perfect lives with their perfect children 🤮
