Do your kids get a letter from the Easter bunny and do they leave a carrot out?

No way.

My children spent most of the day loudly pointing out to relatives that the easter bunny is actually daddy.

I notice mummy got jeff all credit, despite doing all the prep...

Figgygal · 21/04/2019 21:26

Of course not

BackforGood · 21/04/2019 21:29

No and No.

Dear God no!!!

youlladdressmeassir · 21/04/2019 21:32

God, I thought the putting up decorations was sad enough, but this is another levelHmm

QuantamBaby · 21/04/2019 21:35

Nope and Noppity nope! It's not Christmas, stop over complicating things!!!

theclockticksslowly · 21/04/2019 21:37

Definitely not! As a pp said it feels like Easter is being turned into Christmas. An aquaintance on social media posted this morning photos of what the Easter Bunny had left for the kids - a letter and all sorts. Mind you the tooth fairy leaves detailed thank you letters and gifts for each tooth as well so this wasn’t a surprise!

Also seen the pay £10 for a man in a scary looking bunny suit to turn up on your doorstep on social media here too.

Here we did a very simple egg hunt and a little bit of chocolate with relatives giving an egg too.

SouthWestmom · 21/04/2019 21:39

Bunny leaves a list of what to find for each kid. Hides the eggs and chocolate. Stops the oldest one finding everything. They liked it when little.

SaveKevin · 21/04/2019 21:43

Easter bunny visits my house. Blush
He leaves eggs and Easter related craft stuff / games etc around the garden. We don’t do letters or any of that, I’ve actually toned it down in recent years and do less chocolate more activities.

Dc prefer it to Christmas (I tend to agree, it symbolises the end of winter, new life etc), no pressure of what you “should” do at Christmas and just a chance to rest and be together.

happypotamus · 21/04/2019 21:44

They did leave a carrot out for the Easter bunny, but they thought of it themselves and had never done it before. It's not a tradition I started. (Actually the Easter bunny isn't anything to do with me, DH started doing an egg hunt and claiming the Easter bunny left the eggs).

Why would the Easter bunny write them a letter? What about? I have never heard of that.

Doubletrouble99 · 21/04/2019 21:47

No never, far to American for me.

lucysmam · 21/04/2019 21:48

Um...nope and nope!

Dd2 did ask at some point yesterday about leaving a carrot out & I made vague "erm...it doesn't work like Christmas..." noises but she forgot about it anyway.

FoxSquadKitten · 21/04/2019 21:50

Erm pretty sure bunnies can't read or write 🙄

babysharkah · 21/04/2019 21:51

Jesus no and no.

Bringbackthestripes · 21/04/2019 21:51

NOPE and NOPE.

MorbidMuch · 21/04/2019 21:57

No and no.

When my son woke up this morning he suddenly was excited to see what the Easter bunny had bought. Confused I didn't think we did that or he believed.

I'd arranged the egg and book from us in the basket I use each year and placed the eggs sent by grandparents around it. DS said he wondered if the Easter bunny had written on any of them, but was perfectly happy when I explained who had sent him what.

ExpletiveDelighted · 21/04/2019 22:00

No and the DCs come to the supermarket to help us choose eggs, there has never been any talk of the Easter bunny bringing them.

Jamhandprints · 21/04/2019 22:06

Well the 7 year old sat down last night and wrote the bunny a letter. Then got out a carrot and peeled it and put it in a basket on the table. I didn't stop him. I don't know what he expected the bunny to do, as he'd already seen the eggs I bought and helped me hide some small ones in the garden. But it made him happy so...

missmouse101 · 21/04/2019 22:08

No! Easter eggs are from the family members, not a twatty bunny.

feduuup · 21/04/2019 22:15

People saying "too American for me" imagine saying no to curry as it's "too
Indian for me" 🙄

My answer is still no to both though.

julensaor · 21/04/2019 22:30

shit, wish I had seen this thread a couple of years ago. Never ever did I believe in the 'easter bunny' as a kid. But it seems to have gathered a following and for the last few years, because they all seem to believe (and are encouraged to at school and creche or nobody says otherwise) I have hidden their eggs around the house, and the easter bunny draws a map for them to find them. This morning I just couldn't do it anymore, I said to DP, I just can't believe this is a thing, it's a step too far; so more fool me, they weren't upset, so I guess they knew all along. Anyway at least I never have to do it again.

joaninthesun · 21/04/2019 22:35

No and no and no we will never be doing it

FleurNancy · 21/04/2019 22:37

Wtf?!? No!!!

ImogenTubbs · 21/04/2019 22:44

No. DD is 5. She asked about the Easter bunny, but I haven't gone along with the pretence at all. She was super-excited for a moment this morning when she found eggs and Easter crafty things on the dining table and then paused thoughtfully and said, "did you get these things, Mummy?" And when I answered yes, said, "thank you Mummy" very sweetly, and carried on. Smile

hazeyjane · 21/04/2019 22:50

The Easter Bunny writes a letter here, I'm not sure where we got it from. I hide eggs in garden at stupid o clock, with bits of cotton wool, then at the end there is a big egg or Lindt bunny, with a book or a little Lego set and a letter. Then I put their wellies by the back door with a bowl. We've done the same for the last 10 years!
