Are bamboo socks worth the money?

They are reported to be very soft, anti bac qualities and a sustainable material.
But the only places I've seen them bring sold (apart from Amazon) are little gift shops that charge £8+ per pair. Is that reasonable? Do they wash well and last well?
Any recommendations?

Yes but when the sick goblin steals one it is heart breaking....

VictoriaBun · 20/04/2019 17:43

Love mine. They are ultra soft. Look at Bam clothing, and if I'm correct Seasalt do them as well.

MrsGrannyWeatherwax · 20/04/2019 17:43

*sock (bloody auto correct)!

Very soft, very comfortable, wash well. TKMAxx is the place to start looking!

Shockers · 20/04/2019 17:43

The best ones I’ve had we’re from BAM. They have reinforced toes; the part that has let other bamboo socks down for me. They are wonderfully soft too.

SpoonBlender · 20/04/2019 17:44

They wash well but they don't last a very long time. Nice while they're around.

Also I can't stop imagining a sick goblin now. Thanks, Granny. It's a very Pterry image you've put in my head.

I only wear them, TK Maxx packs, love them

hugoagogo · 20/04/2019 17:46

I have had them from boots and tkmaxx and sometimes Primark. They are nice and thin and soft, the only downside is they can be a bit quick to holes.

SunnySomer · 20/04/2019 17:46

I’ve had good ones from Seasalt and absolutely terrible ones (lasted one single wear!) from Sock Shop

Bgrt73 · 20/04/2019 17:47

I don't think they will are any good at all. Keep getting some free in the mail and I'd not recommend them to anyone

Gazelda · 20/04/2019 17:48

Thanks for all the replies! I'll take a look at these places.

I'd hate to get on the wrong side of a sick goblin. He sounds either very messy and stink of cheese or he's got unpleasant habits that Channel 5 might be interested in featuring.

I didn’t know they were an expensive thing. Like alltoomuch, I’ve got some frommTKmaxx and they weren’t expensive.

StayingWithAuntySue · 20/04/2019 17:49

Bam are really hard wearing, and v soft

DisplayPurposesOnly · 20/04/2019 17:51

Yes. I'm not a big fan of socks but accept they are a necessary evil in winter. They are softer than cotton, and my bamboo ones have never felt damp whereas my cotton ones did. I never wear cotton socks now.

Totaldogsbody · 20/04/2019 17:51

Lovely and soft, extremely comfortable get them in Tkmax from around £4.99 but agree with hugoagogo toe and heel areas go to hole quickly.

Her0utdoors · 20/04/2019 17:53

We get gifted them by the same person every year. They take ages to dry compared to the rest of our socks and it cocks up laundry system.

MrsGrannyWeatherwax · 20/04/2019 17:58

Honestly, the sick goblin is to be feared 😂

Lost5stone · 20/04/2019 17:59

I got some sent free by BAM randomly too. They are amazing. I keep meaning to buy some. So soft

GiantKitten · 20/04/2019 18:02

Mine are from sock shop - I agree they’re not very tough, but soooo soft, & lovely gentle tops.

I bought 3 sets of 3 about 18 months ago & I've only had to chuck 3 pairs so far (& I wear them for much of the year)

They’re buy one get one half price, so 6 pairs for £10.50, which is pretty good for bamboo. I have big feet so got men’s but assume the women’s are the same. Worth a try at that price (but try never to snag the bottoms on anything!)

ThomasHardyPerennial · 20/04/2019 18:05

They are not sustainable, and it's not an ethically produced material either.

GiantKitten · 20/04/2019 18:25

In what way not sustainable?

avocadochocolate · 20/04/2019 18:27

BAM keeps on sending my DP a free pair of bamboo socks. I don't know why because he has never ordered anything from them.

Don't tell him - I always take them. Tee hee!

zod1ac19 · 20/04/2019 18:29

I love them. Again sock shop ones are my favourite, easily available on Amazon.

adaline · 20/04/2019 18:33

I love mine. I got them from Joules.
