Are bamboo socks worth the money?

They are reported to be very soft, anti bac qualities and a sustainable material.
But the only places I've seen them bring sold (apart from Amazon) are little gift shops that charge £8+ per pair. Is that reasonable? Do they wash well and last well?
Any recommendations?

I love my BAM socks. I get the roll-top ones as I've had ankle surgery and elasticated socks make it swell. I think they've lasted well - I've just bought 8 new pairs Grin. Before that I had 12 pairs and they lasted several years of continual wear before the soles and heels wore through. I've only ever received one free pair though! The thicker sports style ones are best if you have the right shoes to accommodate them, but the normal ones are still lovely and soft and thicker than many brands.

I buy my bamboo socks from Tebay service station in Cumbria £5.95 and they are amazingly soft. I've never had a problem with holes despite being washed regularly and then put in the tumble dryer. It's now become a tradition to stop and buy a pair every time we go past. Smile

You can get them in Tesco! Not expensive. Stay nice and soft after lots of washing. Lovely.

I'm not impressed with the seasalt ones, tbh. I wouldn't buy them again. I don't think they're worth the money.

PCohle · 21/04/2019 01:31

Like others BAM have sent me three free pairs despite never showing any interest in them.

The socks are very nice but at this point I have more than enough. Plus I do slightly wonder what the mark up on them must be if they can afford to give them away for free.

FloofyHeckonChonker · 21/04/2019 02:01

Yes! Dh hasn't had athlete's foot since I started buying them (they also have silver in them which helps). I always bulk buy them on Ebay or Amazon.

Carpetburns · 21/04/2019 07:59

Omgoodness YES!
I love mine. I try to explain to friends but they just say, "Socks are socks" or similar. But they aren't! BAM socks are so soft and luxurious- I am officially converted.

LarryGreysonsDoor · 21/04/2019 08:13

How are you all getting free socks from Bam?

I buy mine from Seasalt.
They get washed and dried with everything else.
However mine have lasted for years but Dh’s have worn through on the sole.

mookinsx · 21/04/2019 08:14

Yes they are great. But - tk maxx sell them
You can usually find them online with tk maxx and they are lovely

BikeRunSki · 21/04/2019 08:21

BAM
My bamboo socks from Thought clothing have been more hardwearing though.

Madcats · 21/04/2019 08:39

I like them. I've had 5 unsolicited pairs from Bam(?)! The thick trainer socks seem indestructible. I am going to buy a top from them one day, honest!

Joules also sell them, but they aren't as hard wearing.

I've bought loads of Green Treat ones from TK Maxx. They are fairly cheap, but don't last particularly long.

TheCunkOfPhilomena · 21/04/2019 10:00

Oh yes, the BAM ones are brilliant. I have a standing order with my step dad that that's what he buys me for Christmas each year as they are quite expensive but they're superbly comfy.

ThatLibraryMiss · 21/04/2019 11:22

Is this thread some sort of advertising campaign by BAM or something? I've never heard of them yet here they are giving away so many unsolicited free socks.

azulmariposa · 21/04/2019 11:25

I've had bamboo tights from primark. So soft and comfy. I wonder if they do socks too?

PCohle · 21/04/2019 11:35

Library I solemnly swear that I am just a normal person that BAM seem to be sending a lot of free socks to. I do find it a bit weird as well tbh.

DisplayPurposesOnly · 21/04/2019 13:14

No-one has ever sent me free bamboo socks

MikeUniformMike · 21/04/2019 13:17

Don't get bamboo tights. They take ages to dry.

hugoagogo · 21/04/2019 15:20

How do I get on the Bam socks gravy train? I would love free socks.

OhMyGodTheyKilledKenny · 21/04/2019 15:29

I've got some from TKMaxx but found they went really thin and threadbare on the heel so quickly. Also the tops went tight after the first wash.

Backseatonthebus · 21/04/2019 15:33

I've got some tops from Bam which are lovely and soft but they have never sent me any free socks bastards. Seasalt bamboo socks are great, and very hard wearing.

whitehalleve · 21/04/2019 16:27

They have loads in Boots

Daria32 · 21/04/2019 17:14

I keep getting free socks sent from Bam too! No idea how, as I’ve never signed up for anything with them! They are amazing socks though! But seeing as I have 5 free pairs now, I don’t need to buy any! Not sure of the marketing! Maybe I’m supposed to tell all my friends how amazing they are....

Madcats · 21/04/2019 17:17

I really have no clue why I keep getting free socks. Wherever it is, DH and Dd would benefit from a larger size...please Grin

I buy stuff online from Soak & Sleep, Ocado, Joules and Boden and a few companies less regularly. I've used a few fancy holiday co's too, but I would have thought that GDPR would have deleted me last year. We have a couple of magazine subs too.

With email offers I can usually spot who passes on my address, but not with post.

Bamboo pants are good, but not sure where I bought those - Figleaves maybe

Tempted to interrogate the postman to see who else gets them on our round Hmm

Rockhoppperd · 21/04/2019 17:23

Agree the BAM ones are great. Like others I have been sent 3 free pairs - no ide why.

Thought socks at great too. Would avoid Seasalt - lovely designs but mine shrank Angry

brizzlemint · 21/04/2019 17:24

They are amazing but they don't last long here either - the DCs all like them and take them. Thankfully it is now sandal season until the end of the summer holidays Grin
