How much would you pay for this meat order?

Having a chat with a friend and she couldn't get over the cost of our recent meat order. It seems perfectly reasonable to me. I use a local butchers who are fab. All the meat is local (they rear their own pork and beef, lamb is farm next door and chickens are also local), and all high-welfare, very high quality, grass fed, free range, etc.

Our recent order consisted of:
3kg of beef mince
1kg of turkey mince
1.5kg of sausage meat/pork mince
8 sausages
14 chicken thighs
2 whole large chickens
20 chicken breasts
A beef joint (topside) to feed 6 people

Just curious how much you would pay for this order? Oh and to add, this is to prepare some meals ready for when our baby arrives next month and the rest will easily see how through for at 2-3 months.

Sexnotgender · 20/04/2019 13:10

Actually maybe more like £100

BiscuitDrama · 20/04/2019 13:10

That would cost me £100 for niceish supermarket, so maybe £120.

Celebelly · 20/04/2019 13:11

I wouldn't blink at paying upwards of £150. That's a lot of meat, and good quality, ethical meat isn't cheap. You'll get a lot of meals out of all that.

EinsteinsArousedSausagesHCB · 20/04/2019 13:11

£70

Asdf12345 · 20/04/2019 13:11

It really depends on the butcher you choose. I buy my pork legs for instance at £2.20/kg from a chap who sells it to another butcher with a much fancier shop who sells it at £9 a kg.

Meat pricing is highly variable. Last lamb I bought was £110 for a whole one (28kg meat weight). Tesco ask £9/kg upwards. Which would put the same buy at close to £300.

YouBumder · 20/04/2019 13:12

£80 - £100

SuperPixie247 · 20/04/2019 13:13

£120 maybe

mynameiscalypso · 20/04/2019 13:14

I'd go higher - probably closer to £200/£300.

FiremanKing · 20/04/2019 13:19

For £300 I’d want it cooked!

SuperPixie247 · 20/04/2019 13:33

FrangipaniBlue · 20/04/2019 13:39

Wolfcubisthefemalenominal · 20/04/2019 14:01

beachyhead · 20/04/2019 14:02

I reckon £90.....

flissfloss65 · 20/04/2019 14:04

Approx £150-160.

watermelonlove · 20/04/2019 14:06

As a vegetarian I can't believe the price of meatShock would you all pay £150 for meat??😅

Also LOL at the poster who mentioned 'ethical meat' there is nothing ethical about killing an animal no matter how well 'looked after' it was.

ClashCityRocker · 20/04/2019 14:07

About £150?

Drogosnextwife · 20/04/2019 14:08
