How much would you pay for this meat order?

Having a chat with a friend and she couldn't get over the cost of our recent meat order. It seems perfectly reasonable to me. I use a local butchers who are fab. All the meat is local (they rear their own pork and beef, lamb is farm next door and chickens are also local), and all high-welfare, very high quality, grass fed, free range, etc.

Our recent order consisted of:
3kg of beef mince
1kg of turkey mince
1.5kg of sausage meat/pork mince
8 sausages
14 chicken thighs
2 whole large chickens
20 chicken breasts
A beef joint (topside) to feed 6 people

Just curious how much you would pay for this order? Oh and to add, this is to prepare some meals ready for when our baby arrives next month and the rest will easily see how through for at 2-3 months.

Next year I swear I'm giving up MN for lent. Why am I sat here on a Saturday waiting for a complete stranger to tell me how much her shopping was?!

greensnail · 20/04/2019 15:47

I would say about £150.

MyDcAreMarvel · 20/04/2019 15:48

Added it up as I went along and £80.

Ah here. Howwweeee muuuccchhh Grin

delilahbucket · 20/04/2019 16:00

If it was from our butcher it would probably be around the £110 mark depending on the size of the beef joint.

watermelonlove · 20/04/2019 16:01

@Motheroffeminists Smile

DerelictWreck · 20/04/2019 16:16

Would be about £100 in the supermarket so perhaps £120-£150 at the butchers? Those saying £50 or £300 are having a laugh!

Wallabyone · 20/04/2019 16:20

I estimated £140-where are you OP?

underneaththeash · 20/04/2019 16:21

That would be over £200 at our butchers

@FiremanKings - your shopping list would provide no protein or iron, so would be a very poor substitute.

VanillaCoconutDove · 20/04/2019 16:26

3kg of beef mince £12/15
1kg of turkey mince £4/6
1.5kg of sausage meat/pork mince £4/6
8 sausages £5/8
14 chicken thighs £15/18
2 whole large chickens £16/20
20 chicken breasts £20/25
A beef joint (topside) to feed 6 people £20/32

Quite a range but minimum £96, to a more expected £130.

billybagpuss · 20/04/2019 16:28

£80 and @fireman I wouldn’t know where to look for a turnip at the mo they’re out of season

booellesmum · 20/04/2019 16:35

Purpletigers · 20/04/2019 16:35

Minimum of 90 maximum of 130

Purpletigers · 20/04/2019 16:36

Topside can be very dry , silverside is much nicer.

MyKingdomForBrie · 20/04/2019 16:38

Horrified at anyone coming in under £100, clearly you're happy to eat meat that's been treated in a horrendous fashion for its entire 'life'. Should be ashamed.

onalongsabbatical · 20/04/2019 16:43

I'm going to eat the OP when she comes back. Anyone want some nice rump at, oh, say a tenner a half-kilo?
