... ruined I tell you!

Anyone elses kids decided to get ill this weekend?
My youngest has only gone and got chickenpox.

I was really looking forward to a nice relaxing weekend as i usually work a 50 hour week. But no.
The 3 year old just had to spoil it.
Selfish little sod.

We are all tickety boo here. Yayy! But I've got university assignments to submit next week. The only time I will see the sun is putting laundry on the line. If it helps we had a norovirus Christmas one year. Sorry for your bad luck.

WoollyMummoth · 20/04/2019 08:40

My dh has raging conjunctivitis. The make up/prosthetic team on the Walking Dead would be proud to create the mess his eye has turned into. It makes me inwardly retch every time I put drops in it for him.
The “eye” has ruined Easter plans(who wants to sit with a seeping eyeball over a nice lunch)
Dd also avoiding dh as her proms coming up.She even put her phone in a plastic food bag before she’d let him touch it to look at the takeaway menu!
Happy days

Chickenpox can be so very serious. I would always recommend the vaccine. I got my LO done as soon as I could and so far, so good even with a few bouts around nursery

She’s a sensible one 😀

HerRoyalFattyness · 20/04/2019 08:54

super yeah it can be serious, unfortunately i don't have the £300 it would take to vaccinate my youngest two just lying around at home. 🤷‍♀️
So they'll just have to get chicken pox and be miserable about it.
Could have picked a better time though! Grin

Agreed it can be expensive. Mine was £65 each for 2 vaccinations.

Timing is everything with kids. I remember DS getting his first tooth on his first Xmas Eve and being crabby all Xmas Day 🙄😂

HerRoyalFattyness · 20/04/2019 08:59

super yeah, stupidly expensive. I'd also have to get dp vaccinated!

DD is due to fly soon... i really hope she doesnt get it! She's been looking forward to this holiday since before Christmas.

My youngest has decided this weekend was the PERFECT time to get D&V. Honestly can't believe how selfish he is Wink

It is so frustrating though OP, I feel your pain!

Ellapaella · 20/04/2019 11:22

Currently sitting in a minor injuries centre with eldest DS who decided to injure his knee (in fairness quite badly) yesterday playing football. It's 19 degrees outside which doesn't happen very often up here in the north east. We were meant to be taking the camper van up the Northumbrian coast today so I am a little sorry for myself 😣

HerRoyalFattyness · 20/04/2019 11:34

The selfishness of children eh?

ella hope its not too badly damaged.

Ellapaella · 20/04/2019 11:41

Absolutely @HerRoyalFattyness - little buggers. Bless him his knee has swollen to the size of a football and to be fair he can't actually walk. He's quite dramatic though so sometimes hard to tell with him how bad things actually are!
I wouldn't mind but I spent all of lovely yesterday painting the garden fence in the hope we'd have a nice family day out today.

HerRoyalFattyness · 20/04/2019 11:46

Oh that sounds painful!
My poxy one is a dramatic one too. So the crying and what not im not sure if he's just exaggerating or if he really does feel that shit.
Im erring on the side of caution and going with he feels shit.

My kids are fine but I’ve just woken up having had a migraine since yesterday. So that’s been nice.

Now of course I need to do a shop because heaven forbid my husband use his brain and do it himself and then get a cab back Hmm (he doesn’t drive or think)

DianaPrincessOfThemyscira · 20/04/2019 11:48

GODDAMN THE STRIKETHROUGH

HerRoyalFattyness · 20/04/2019 11:55

Diana Flowers my DP doesn't think either. Ive just had to tell him not to rub DS2 dry with a towel.
He had just got out of an oaty bath, and ended up crying. DP asked what was up Hmm he's fucking sore you fool! And you're rubbing and making it worse!

Why the Feck isn't chicken pox an NHS funded vaccine in the UK? Madness to have thousands of people ill with a preventable (&highly contagious) disease.

Usuallyinthemiddle · 20/04/2019 12:40

Virasoothe , paracetamol and Piriton working here so far. And Scooby Doo. He's got spots on his balls. I feel so sorry for him. Being a trooper.
Well, poxy, injured, nauseous and achey friends, here's to it passing. Xxxx

Laniakea · 20/04/2019 12:49

Dd1 is celebrating Easter with (yet another bout of) tonsillitis. Her A levels start in a month Shock

HerRoyalFattyness · 20/04/2019 12:55

Oh bless him. X

Loyaultemelie · 20/04/2019 13:29

My dm feels your pain, she said recently I was always ill for special occasions

Ellapaella · 20/04/2019 14:34

@HerRoyalFattyness hope he gets better soon poor little thing

MachineBee · 20/04/2019 17:07

I totally agree Netflix.

Anyone minimising CP are naive. Although my DDs were just I’ll for a couple of days then were bouncing off the walls for their quarantine period. But my poor niece aged 3 ended up in hospital with cellulitis and was put into an induced coma while she recovered. It was horrible.

I don’t understand why it isn’t vaccinated - can only assume cost plays a part.

Yorkshiremum17 · 20/04/2019 17:17

Child is fine, however dh and I are completely wiped out with a nasty cold and cough. I've lost my voice and can't be arsed to do anything😕

sharpstick · 20/04/2019 17:22

Hope your little one feels better soon.

My dd has projectiled today. Just waiting for the rest of us now 🤮
