... ruined I tell you!

Anyone elses kids decided to get ill this weekend?
My youngest has only gone and got chickenpox.

I was really looking forward to a nice relaxing weekend as i usually work a 50 hour week. But no.
The 3 year old just had to spoil it.
Selfish little sod.

No need for bitching above poster. It's shit and the reason I vaccinated my second child as timing is always shite.

cantfindname · 19/04/2019 19:36

When I was a kid my DB got chicken pox, went on for weeks as he has a suppressed immune system, then I got it, was just over it when my Dad went down with it!! Being an adult he got it badly. I almost felt sorry for my mother.

Crunchymum · 19/04/2019 19:38

Tonsillitis here (me) plus a gum infection (also me). Walk in Dr and / or emergency dentist. Sigh.

Oh and the most lively 4yo in the world took herself off to bed at 6pm. She never goes to bed at that time so lord knows what she is brewing Shock

HerRoyalFattyness · 19/04/2019 19:45

Antihistamines might help with the itching. Not sure how old you have to be to take them though.
When DD was a baby, all my kids and DH got chicken pox. It was awful. Mine pretty much lived in the shower to help with itchiness.

IWannaSeeHowItEnds · 19/04/2019 19:51

Call your Dr about your dp and step dad. Iirc ours gave DH medicine to take immediately which was supposed to help stop the virus from being really bad. Adults can get it in their lings, I think and be really I'll. You need that medicine in the house before all the surgeries close for Easter Sunday/Monday.

ThePlacesYouWillGo123 · 19/04/2019 19:51

Poxcilin mousse was a lifesaver when my DD got chicken pox. Instantly relieved the itching

HerRoyalFattyness · 19/04/2019 19:51

iwanna good shout actually on the antihistamines... we have some in because he is allergic to tomatoes and the antihistamines work.

Just vaccinated our toddler, so hoping to avoid this! Who knew there was a season?Confused

I do have a husband whose man flu started the second he finished work for the weekend however. I've handed him the day nurse and letting him get on with it. Thankfully at in laws on Easter Sunday, so at least no cooking to worry about!

Hope they're not too itchy 😕

Drum2018 · 19/04/2019 19:53

Whatever you do don't give neurofen.

hiphopapotamuses · 19/04/2019 19:55

My littlest has a mystery virus with a mega fever that came on yesterday. Doubled up with oral thrush and thrushy (very sore and bleeding) nappy rash. She's also teething.
She's a right barrel of bloody laughs.

bl00dyminecraft · 19/04/2019 20:00

Not my child, but me - I'm a snot fest, headachy, tired, cold (even have a jumper on!).

PaulHollywoodsSexGut · 19/04/2019 20:01

My DD has had a mystery squitty virus for the past 10 days that is wrecking her sleep and meaning when she says “mummy I need a poo” you gotta act.

So today it got worse and now her DB has it.

Just waiting patiently for the whole house to be struck down with arse goo

bananasandwicheseveryday · 19/04/2019 20:24

Me too started to feel unwell around lunchtime on Wednesday and came to bed. Got up again around 3pm today, had something to eat and am now back in bed. I'm gutted - we have a family tradition on Good Friday and for the first time in almost 30 years, I've had to cancel /postpone it. I feel especially bad about that as ds and DIL both had to take annual leave for it.

HerRoyalFattyness · 19/04/2019 20:25

drum no, i know, it can cause problems.

FlowersCake and Gin for everyone else suffering with poorly kids or selves.

Ah shit. I'm feeling a bit nauseous now. Which one of you infected me? Sad

thegreylady · 19/04/2019 22:29

Put some porridge oats in a clean sock and tie it closed. Swish it around in just warm bath water. Put child in bath and give him ‘Sock Doc’ the let him play in the water, Pat his spots with sock, you do his back. Pat him dry with a cool towel.
Put Doctor Sock on a clean saucer by the bed and refresh it with a little cool water then let him (or you) gently Pat worse itches in the night if he wakes. It works.
Change porridge every evening at bath time.

HerRoyalFattyness · 20/04/2019 08:00

Ooh thanks. I'll try that. We had a very rough night.

This was our Christmas. DD first, then DS. It was shit.

Mokepon · 20/04/2019 08:08

I'll second the oats in a sock, dd spent a lot of cp in the bath.
Ds had it last Easter.
This year the kids are both just recovering from D&V, DD was so bad she's spent the last 2 days in hospital on a drip.
We are all weak and weary. Hopefully by Sunday we'll feel like some Easter fun but I think it will be a little subdued.
Flowers to all with poorly ones, it will pass!

Whiskyagogo · 20/04/2019 08:16

Oooh yes my son loved an oaty bath when he had the pox. I think he had 3-4 baths a day as it was the only time he was happy!

Weenurse · 20/04/2019 08:21

DD2 was very ill with CP, they thought she had cerebral irritation.
This is miserable for everyone to live through.💐

NoToast · 20/04/2019 08:34

Chicken pox here too. She's been with her grandparents for a week, dad for a week and now I get her back for our fun and my first proper time off this year and we can't do anything. Will give Doc Sock a go, thanks everyone for the tips.
