As the title says - what do you honestly eat on an average day?

I love these threads, is it a competition?! "6g ground flaxseed"??!!

I don't weigh my flaxseeds! The shame!

I only have 800 cals per day to play with. So yes, I weigh everything.

small2018 · 16/04/2019 18:11

No breakfast but do drink tea at home and a coffee on way to work

Tea and water when I get to work

Fruit mid morning

Soup or salad for lunch - rarely carbs
Crisps - yes I know they are carbs

Dinner - usual spag Bol, chilli, curry - stuck in a rut! Try not to eat DS's leftovers as his food is more fun than mine

Some sort of chocolate - usually dark

Usually something from work treat table - cake or something - so hard to resist!!

I'm constantly on a diet too!!

WineGummyBear · 16/04/2019 18:12

Breakfast: porridge (made with whole milk), sprinkling of sugar, glass of OJ

Coffee and snickers at 10.

Microwaved leftovers for lunch (gnocchi/chilli/pasta - who knows) or oatcakes, cream cheese & tomatoes

Apple

Dinner varies...

IntoValhalla · 16/04/2019 18:20

Today has been a pretty typical day for me (18w pregnant DC3):

  • Cup of tea and a piece of toast
  • Cereal bar midmorning
  • Tuna Mayo and salad sandwich & hula hoops for lunch
  • Clementine and a donut mid afternoon Blush
  • DH and I are having chicken & bacon tortellini with a tomato & mascarpone sauce for dinner a bit later when DCs are asleep
SuperNoodly · 16/04/2019 18:23

Work days:

Breakfast: porridge & fruit
Lunch: Sandwich & fruit, sometimes crisps
Afternoon: Snack on fruit if being good and occasionally chocolate if not
Dinner: fairly healthy and low carb stuff - chicken or fish with veg

Weekends:
Whatever I fancy! Often have eggs & bacon or croissants with jam for breakfast. Usually a roast or other big meal with pudding on Sunday. Drink lots of wine.

I’m a stone overweight though, so going to have to overhaul my diet a bit after Easter.

Hungrymamabear · 16/04/2019 18:24

Breakfast - tea/ coffee maybe a small bowl of cereal or protein shake/ meal replacement bar.
Snack - apple or choc (terrible I know)
Lunch - sandwich/ toast/ protein shake or meal replacement (if haven't had one for breakfast)
Dinner - whatever I fancy!

KooMoo · 16/04/2019 18:58

Who’d believe it,17 stone on a diet of a little bit of dust washed down by water. Grin

SpaceCadet4000 · 16/04/2019 19:01

Breakfast-
Bran flakes and almond milk. Sometimes banana or berries on top. Black coffee.

Lunch-
Often leftovers. Today was leftover homemade pizza with mushrooms. I regularly have an open sourdough sandwich with avocado, beetroot and smoked salmon. I drink a glass of water with lunch.

Dinner-
All of these we generally have at least once a week: homemade pizza, pulse-based tacos or enchiladas, curry. We don't eat much meat but 1 meal a week will have chicken, and another will have fish or shellfish. I drink a La Croix (sparkling water) with dinner.

Snacking-
I usually have 2 squares of dark chocolate and a cup of herbal tea after dinner. I don't generally snack during the day, but if I need something I have dried fruit and nuts or 2 clementines.

Overall, it's probably more bread than I should have but I'm healthy, robust and we eat plenty of fruit and veg. Where I'm good is I don't snack much or drink surgery stuff or alcohol.

Adversecamber22 · 16/04/2019 19:01

There is some variation but breakfast and lunch remain very much one of a couple of things.

Boiled egg, 2 slices toast with marmite or Porridge with bannana, this never varies

3 x Swedish wholewheat rolls with butter, small chunk cheese, salad or
Soup 1 or 2 slices bread, salad

Dinner varies but I’m half Chinese so we eat a lot of homemade Chinese food. Almost half our dinners. Rice with small amounts of meat, lots of veg, no shop bought sauces which is why it stáys healthy, we eat fish at least once a week. I also do a roast in the winter every week. We love tapas so when the weather is warmer we will have that probably twice a week.

Varies but last night did, chorizo in red wine, mixed salad, olives , feta, garlic mushrooms with onions, roasted red peppers, dates wrapped in bacon, mussels in white wine, garlic bread, Patatas bravas. Then though not a bit Spanish I baked a Camembert.

I don’t snack and I don’t have a sweet tooth at all apart from really liking ice cream and some puddings and cake but only really lovely stuff. So if a custard cream or a chocolate mini roll was on offer I just wouldn’t fancy it.

Sweets, biscuits and crisps every evening would be a lot. I’m older and was brought up to never snack between meals so it’s just natural for me.

HoldMyGirl · 16/04/2019 19:06

Today, not really a typical day, DC are on school holidays

Breakfast:
Tea & 2 slices whole meal toast

Mid morning: coffee and kit Kat

Lunch: crackers & cheese
Coffee

Dinner: a small portion of Chicken, spaghetti and veg

I've just had one slice of toast

I'm going to have a glass of wine and a packet of crisps and maybe some Maltesers once the kids are in bed

I've no idea how that compares to anyone else.
I'm a size 8-10, but I can only maintain that with daily exercise

MorrisZapp · 16/04/2019 19:07

I'm on a 'diet' at the moment and I eat the exact same thing every day.

Breakfast is all bran, quite a big bowl.

Lunch is one peanut butter sandwich and one honey sandwich.

Afternoon snack is a curly wurly.

Dinner is a pot of sweet potato Thai massaman soup and two ryvita.

Evening snack is a bowl of strawberries and raspberries.

Loads of cups of tea.

I'm losing weight slowly but surely, brilliant fun fitting into lots of exciting new things!

Frouby · 16/04/2019 19:13

3 or 4 coffees (instant, white, no sugar) until about 1pm.

1pm Starving hangry attack cupboard fridge. Usually emerge with ham salad sandwich/eggs on toast/cheese and biscuits/occasionally hit gold and find leftovers OR need milk and buy a sarnie from Greggs and a bag of crisps.

5pm eat DS leftovers. Might be tuna and pasta, cheese and tomato pizza/fishfingers and waffles/stew and dumplings.

6.30pm a handful of nuts. Dry roasted, not fancy ones.

8pm after 2 or 3 cans of lager/gins me and dh eat. Usually a traditional dinner. Tonight is pork chops, chips and beans. Last night was smoked haddock, veg and potatoes. Sometimes its stew and dumplings. Sometimes its supermarket pizzas. Sometimes it's fancypants homemade from scratch stuff. Sometimes it's omelettes or a fry up.

9pm occasionally a yoghurt or a bun or some cheesecake. Probably once in the week, and on a sunday.

We eat a varied diet, sensible portions, plenty of veg and salad and the occasional piece of fruit. Not got a sweet tooth particularly.

But I am fat (size 16ish) because I drink. I am fit and strong (do 10k steps most days, have a huge allotment, 2 ponies yada yada yada). But alcohol calories are fuckers.

eeela · 16/04/2019 19:13

Coffee with milk and vanilla syrup

Fruit with yoghurt (1 serving fruit and 1 tbsp yog)

Eggs on toast or porridge or a bagel

Soup
Small coffee with milk and a sugar (sometimes with fruit, sometimes with a couple of biscuits or chocolate)
Meat or fish, carbs and salad
Sorbet, yoghurt or a few jelly sweets with a cup of fruit tea or sometimes a hot chocolate

If it's a weekend the late afternoon coffee is replaced with wine :)

That's average. Today I ate that except I ate a cheese and ham croissant instead of the eggs on toast.

wellhonestly · 16/04/2019 19:21

B'fast: porridge (no sugar), one tablespoon of double cream and a sprinkling of seeds
Lunch: salad with tuna or a boiled egg; apple, orange, banana; at the weekend instead prob 2 poached eggs, one slice toast, no butter.
Hot drinks but no snacks between meals.
Dinner: decent dinner - tonight was pork in a mustard sauce, rice and brussels sprouts; small glass of wine; I often have fruit for dessert and/or yogurt, but tonight I had coconut shavings; I'll have some chocolate with my coffee.

Healthy BMI, size 12, middle-aged. Walk and cycle every day, very rarely drive.

Thepacksurvives · 16/04/2019 19:21

Breakfast; cup of tea and either a bacon sandwich or beans on toast (2 slices of bread and 1/3 tin of beans), water
Mid morning cup of tea
Lunch; tuna sandwich, banana, packet of crisps, water
Snack; cup of tea and a snickers
Dinner; roast dinner or pasta or curry or casserole, water. In the summer pudding is strawberries and cream, currently it's a cup of tea and a creme egg 🙈

I'm breastfeeding my 10m old and hoping it's still burning plenty of calories

InMyOwnParticularIdiom · 16/04/2019 19:22

Cup of tea, orange juice
Muesli

Soya latte about 3x a week

Sandwich/soup/omelette
Packet of crisps, piece of fruit
Diet Coke

As many cups of tea as toddler allows

Cooked tea eg cottage pie, curry, pasta
Yogurt (crumble or sponge once a week)

May have a hot choc in evening, half a bottle of wine once a week or so

This is a lot for little old 5'2 me (size 14 but maintaining a steady weight), I think I have a speedy metabolism Smile

BobbinThreadbare123 · 16/04/2019 19:25

At the mo I am a trim size 12 at 5ft7. I could do with dropping a bit but I'll do it with more exercise now it's not dark all the time. I eat:

No breakfast, just a big mug of tea
Apple mid morning with a cuppa
Lunch is leftovers from tea the night before, or salad and hummus/boiled egg, fruit, possibly a bit of banana loaf or Soreen
Two more brews!
Tea might be spag bol, baked potato and quiche, salad, sausages and gnocchi, ratatouille, stew/casserole, Mexican food like enchiladas, fish finger sandwich, beans on toast, curry, stir fry, pasta and prawns, risotto...
Hot chocolate before bed

Snacks are rare but today I had a Club biscuit. At the weekend I will eat pizza/go out for tea, drink beers and scoff chocolate!

WickedGoodDoge · 16/04/2019 19:25

Am trying to drop half a stone before a holiday in six weeks time my current diet looks like:

Early: Peppermint tea
Breakfast: Porridge with blueberries
Lunch: salad with dressing, prawns, chicken breads or salmon fillet
Afternoon: Cup of coffee with milk and sugar
Dinner: Anything, really, but I watch my portion size. Tonight we had Cajun Shrimp Tacos with Mango Salsa and some Doritos:

www.jocooks.com/type/healthy-eating/cajun-shrimp-tacos-with-mango-salsa/

So good but so messy!

When I’m not trying to lose half a stone, I also have an afternoon snack - popcorn or cake or biscuit. Maybe more than one. Grin

lastqueenofscotland · 16/04/2019 19:28

9 times out of 10 it’s like this

Crumpet x2 with marmite
Apple
Portion of leftovers for lunch
Usually have a snack along the lines of crisps/toast
Dinner is usually veg heavy as I’m vegan- curry/chilli/pasta with lentil Bolognese/veggie sausages with mash and veg etcetcetc
Couple of biscuits

DameSylvieKrin · 16/04/2019 19:31

(I‘m bfing)
2 weetabix and milk, Lady Grey
Elevenses: chocolate muffin, tetleys with milk
Lasagne
Turkey and spinach burger, new potatoes, carrots, broccoli, cauliflower

I still plan to eat: crisp sandwich, chocolate covered almonds.

I have a bmi of 21 and falling, so not worried about the junk food at present.

CatsForLife · 16/04/2019 19:38

Blimey, there’s so many people who only eat one meal a day. I’m genuinely flummoxed by that. There’s no way I could do my job/look after kids/exercise on one proper meal a day. Not eating until 2pm?! Today I’ve had granola and a banana, sandwich and crisps and risotto. But I’m not done yet...

spugzbunny · 16/04/2019 19:44

@MoreSlidingDoors
Do you eat 800 cals everyday? Are you really tiny or is it a diet?

Sometimes I think I'd be better off hardly eating any breakfast and lunch and only eating tea but I think I'd end up eating 20 biscuits at 10pm

TheZeppo · 16/04/2019 20:16

Well, we are all individuals after all!

I feel stomach-rumbling hungry the minute I wake up. If I don’t eat within 30 minutes of waking up, I feel really sick.

I’m restricted by work as to when I can eat (teacher) but if I miss lunch (common!) I find I’m quite grouchy for the last two lessons Blush

I eat tea about half four. I know that’s early! But then I’m fine til bed at 11.

I do binge eat in the holidays and gain a bit of weight Blush

I’m fascinated because my sis and I eat very similarly, but she has always been overweight.

Grumpbum123 · 16/04/2019 20:18

Today has been an average day unfortunately
Breakfast was a wrap with marmite
