Are you working on Good Friday ?

I would have been as I do shifts, but I'm taking a day's leave. Good Friday is my favourite public holiday so I prefer to take the day off if possible. It's a strange one; many shops and small businesses are open as usual (my local butcher will be), even though it's a public holiday. Conversely, many businesses will be closed on Easter Monday and all the big retailers on Easter Sunday. I believe the latter is a legal requirement.

The weather forecast for GF looks favourable too, which helps 🙂.

DH is working Good Friday, Easter Saturday and Easter Monday. Good old NHS. I'm frantically trying to find free things to do for another week before they go back to school to minimise arguments.

isabellerossignol · 16/04/2019 10:15

Yes, but it's not a holiday in my part of the UK. Easter Monday and Tuesday are the public holiday days.

RomanyQueen1 · 16/04/2019 10:18

All my family are off for all of Easter.

Is it Scotland and/or Northern Ireland where GF isn't a public holiday ?

I work in retail and I'm working good Friday and bank holiday Monday. We are also open in Easter Sunday but luckily I've not working it......I hate working in retail!!!!

Sunhill4 · 16/04/2019 11:10

I work in childcare, closed for the whole long w/e & i've taken Thurs as a hol day as going away. Can't wait Grin

Littlebird88 · 16/04/2019 11:12

only Easter Monday is a public holiday here . Scotland

isabellerossignol · 16/04/2019 11:34

N Ireland has Easter Monday and Tuesday as the public holidays, although the bank holidays are still Friday and Monday. If you work in a bank your holidays are all out of sync with everyone else at Easter. Smile

caperplips · 16/04/2019 12:16

Yes I am off Friday and Monday - can't wait!

BrokenWing · 16/04/2019 12:55

Schools are off but I'm working GF and Easter Monday from home through choice. Never been a big thing for us and ds is just back after having first 2 weeks in April off as school holidays. Prefer to keep a couple of days until it's warmer.

SrSteveOskowski · 16/04/2019 16:43

Yes. DH is too, but more in a sort of 'just showing my face for an hour' sort of way. His company well let them away with it, but if they don't put in an appearance it's taken as a day out of their holidays.

I usually work Mondays, can do Tuesday next week if I want instead, but may do Monday as at the moment I have no major plans for the weekend. Will see how it suits me.

In Ireland by the way. Monday is a bank holiday here, but Friday isn't.

U2HasTheEdge · 16/04/2019 17:41

Yes, night shift.

Then I am working Easter Monday evening.

PH03b3 · 16/04/2019 17:47

At work good Friday off Easter Monday as its fallen as a off duty day
We get given our bank holidays in our allowance and i would prefer to use my holidays for a full week holiday.

PortiaCastis · 16/04/2019 17:51

Yes, in the tourist trade so working all weekend

Daffopill · 16/04/2019 17:53

Yes. Really don’t mind as it’s such a dull bank holiday. Would rather use my annual leave at another time of the year.

Allyg1185 · 16/04/2019 18:07

I work in childcare and we are closed Friday and Monday. Dh and ds are back to work and school on Monday so I have a completely free day

GlitterPixie · 16/04/2019 18:09

Crunchymum · 16/04/2019 18:11
