Are you working on Good Friday ?

I would have been as I do shifts, but I'm taking a day's leave. Good Friday is my favourite public holiday so I prefer to take the day off if possible. It's a strange one; many shops and small businesses are open as usual (my local butcher will be), even though it's a public holiday. Conversely, many businesses will be closed on Easter Monday and all the big retailers on Easter Sunday. I believe the latter is a legal requirement.

The weather forecast for GF looks favourable too, which helps 🙂.

All four days off, can't wait. No plans, just relaxing and hopefully enjoying the nice weather.

Redglitter · 16/04/2019 21:24

only Easter Monday is a public holiday here Scotland .

Both days are a PH where I am. Albeit I'm working but non shift workers are off & we get PH rates Fri & Mon

I’m not working Good Friday but only because I’d booked this week as annual leave. I am working Easter Monday, my work is closed on Easter Sunday. We don’t get any extra for working a bank holiday

Interesting to see the differences across Scotland.

I'm NE and our schools went back yesterday then have Friday off and back again Monday as it's just a normal day here.

ICantBelieveIDidThis · 16/04/2019 22:37

Yup.

And Easter Saturday, Easter Sunday, Easter Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

Groovee · 17/04/2019 04:56

@30not13 my Dd is on placement for uni and is in Easter Monday too as the schools go back then. It's thrown us. But she's off the 6th of May.

Toddlerteaplease · 17/04/2019 05:52

I always take Holy Week and Easter as annual leave as I'll be really busy with liturgies.

TheHobbitMum · 17/04/2019 06:07

I've volunteered to work both Friday and Monday, we are paid double time for working bank holidays so too good an opertunity to miss

mostlydrinkstea · 17/04/2019 06:50

Yes. Big church festival so from Thursday it is lots of services. Huge amounts of planning go into this. It all finishes Easter Sunday lunchtime and then a whole week off. Hurrah.

LaganOnABubble · 17/04/2019 07:10

I’m working as normal.

I work in the media, which is a 24/7 business.

Ragwort · 17/04/2019 07:19

No, but I have booked it off as I work in retail, I will work part of Saturday and part of Easter Monday (we don’t open Sundays). I genuinely don’t mind, I much prefer to take time off when it suits me and usually it’s quieter on weekdays to do something nice. Now DS is a teenager ‘family days out’ are long gone & DH likes to play golf at weekends so I am happy to do my own thing Grin. There’s always a nice atmosphere in our shop on Bank Hols so it’s really quite fun Smile. I will take Easter Eggs to share with customers.

cptartapp · 17/04/2019 08:30

Nope. Part of the reason I moved into practice nursing. Done my share of bank holidays over the years. Going walking in the Peak District, weather looks great.

notacooldad · 17/04/2019 08:52

I love working the bank holidays.
I find it annoying that they have to be shared out at work so that everyone has to do some when half the staff don't want to d them but the others do! We usually end up swooping shifts anyway.

ssd · 17/04/2019 08:55

I'm working Friday Sunday and Monday
I don't see the big deal

TheFutureMrsB · 17/04/2019 09:50

Yes I work in care and have chosen to work Good Friday because bank holidays are the only time I get paid more than minimum wage Shock also working Easter Sunday into bank holiday Monday for the same reason.

derxa · 17/04/2019 10:20

Unfortunately sheep don't recognise bank holidays, the awkward buggers.
