Are you working on Good Friday ?

I would have been as I do shifts, but I'm taking a day's leave. Good Friday is my favourite public holiday so I prefer to take the day off if possible. It's a strange one; many shops and small businesses are open as usual (my local butcher will be), even though it's a public holiday. Conversely, many businesses will be closed on Easter Monday and all the big retailers on Easter Sunday. I believe the latter is a legal requirement.

The weather forecast for GF looks favourable too, which helps 🙂.

Vanillamanilla1 · 16/04/2019 19:28

Nope im.off
I finish tomorrow 1pm and I'm not back until the following Wednesday.. booked a couple days either side of GF and Easter Monday as annual leave

DeadCertain · 16/04/2019 19:47

Yes and it's a 3am start rather than 4am this Thursday, Friday and Saturday to cope with increased demand, same as at Christmas. Working Monday too but start back to 4am thankfully.

I'm off as I work in a school nursery. But Dh is working.

StealingYourWiFi · 16/04/2019 20:00

Yes. I’m in the private healthcare sector. We normally don’t operate but one surgeon in January asked if we would be interested to do it (double time so I offered). We will be finished by around 4pm hopefully. I’m off the Tuesday so still get my 4 day weekend

managedmis · 16/04/2019 20:03

I'm off 🍷😌

Olivebrach · 16/04/2019 20:04

Im workin Sad

GalactiCat · 16/04/2019 20:07

Yep. Veterinary sector. Lambing doesn't stop for Easter!

SoMuchToBits · 16/04/2019 20:11

I'm working Good Friday and the Saturday but have Easter Day and Easter Monday off (NHS). Last year worked Good Friday and Easter Day.

NotMyUsualTopBilling · 16/04/2019 20:11

Yes, and easter Sunday and Monday too.

Thankfully it really is just a day for chocolate to us so it makes no difference really.

My work is open 365 days a year so it's just luck of the draw really!

wlv12 · 16/04/2019 20:12

I’m a midwife - working Saturday and Easter Sunday, off work good Friday and Easter Monday but on call from 5pm good Friday to 9am Easter Monday.

Chesneyhawkes1 · 16/04/2019 20:14

I'm working the Friday, Saturday and Monday. Was meant to work the Sunday too but not now

RosieposiePuddingandPi · 16/04/2019 20:15

I normally would be and most of my team is but this year I've booked leave because DS's nursery is closed. I work in the tourist industry so it's one of our busiest days of the early half of the year.
I'm looking forward to having it off for once!

Lauren83 · 16/04/2019 20:17

I'm working Friday, Saturday and Monday - private clinic

DP is off Friday to Monday - accountant

duebaby2 · 16/04/2019 20:22

It doesn't affect me as I only work Saturday and Wednesday however all my colleagues who usually work on a Sunday will be placed on Friday or Saturday shifts this week.

starzig · 16/04/2019 20:28

I hope so if someone gives me work

30not13 · 16/04/2019 20:46

In Scotland. Where I am the schools etc are off GF but in on Easter Monday 🙄

I just can't get used to it, (English) I'm used to my 4 day long weekend!

Likethebattle · 16/04/2019 20:55

I have it off. Used to work it as we got 2nd January off (Scottish holiday), my new workplace gives us 2nd Jan and full Easter weekend off but we don’t get the August holiday.

adaline · 16/04/2019 20:56

I work all weekend, including Easter Sunday. I work in retail. We get double time Friday and Monday though!

2018SoFarSoGreat · 16/04/2019 20:59

I'm in Trumville. We don't even close early on Good Friday, and Easter Monday is not a thing. Nothing. It makes me quite sad. My first year here I took the Monday off - of course, why wouldn't I? - and came home to many messages from work asking where I was.

Very sad.

notacooldad · 16/04/2019 21:01

I working Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday then I'm rotated off for 5 days.
I dont mind as I get my hours for the bank holidays back plus extra pay. Also we have some good plans for the weekend. If it's nice we may go to the beach one day and go for a big walk on another.

DramaAlpaca · 16/04/2019 21:04

I'm in Ireland & Good Friday isn't a public holiday here. I've booked annual leave though - I miss the four day Easter weekend from when I lived in the UK, so I always try to take the day off.

uncoolnn · 16/04/2019 21:05

Yes I'm working good Friday, Easter Sunday and Easter Monday. I love retail.

Linnet · 16/04/2019 21:17

I’m in Scotland, where I am the schools are off Friday and Monday for Easter plus Tuesday is an inservice day.
My place of work is closed Friday and Saturday, we don’t open on a Monday anyway so always have that off.
My dh works for a supermarket who are open all weekend as normal, they don’t close for bank holidays, except Christmas and new year.

WoogleCone · 16/04/2019 21:21

Yep, working Fri, Sat, Sun and Mon. No rest for the wicked and heavily pregnant!
