Just reading the Diana thread

Who is your celebrity that you will mourn..

Mine is Meat Loaf, Paul Weller and Bob Dylan

I will genuinely cry when they die.

Oh another one, Neil Diamond.

ILoveMaxiBondi · 14/04/2019 22:39

If George lives and rules for as long as the queen has that takes us beyond 2100!

ILoveMaxiBondi · 14/04/2019 22:40

Should clarify, I mean if he lives as long as the queen has and rules until he dies. He may not rule for as long as she has.

Rockbird · 14/04/2019 22:41

Was gutted when Freddie Mercury, Rik Mayall and victoria Wood died. Will be inconsolable when Debbie Harry goes.

Twolipstulips · 14/04/2019 22:42

I’ve never felt grief for clebrities before, but I think I will when those mentioned before pass away. They have been such a part of mine or my parents life

Inmyownlittlecorner · 14/04/2019 22:44

I was surprised with how sad I was when Terry Wogan & Victoria Wood died.
I think I’ll probably be sadder than I think when the Queen dies.
I’m dreading Julie Andrews & Vera Lynn going. My beautiful Mum died six months ago & she loved them both.

Cocolapew · 14/04/2019 22:44

DH is dreading Debbie going, its been 3 years and I'm still sad about Prince. Add Debbie into the mix and I'll be in pieces.

Twolipstulips · 14/04/2019 22:47

Simon and Garfunkel are another two, again both because my parents love them,

OP posts:
florence11 · 14/04/2019 22:47

Mary Berry

YouBumder · 14/04/2019 22:48

I’ll feel a bit sad when Billy Connolly goes.

Life without Prince Philip and the Queen will be strange. Even my parents in their 70s don’t really remember any other monarch except her.

SheeshKebab · 14/04/2019 22:48

I sobbed when Chester Bennington died and it still makes me sad. He's one of my musical heroes.

Anyone dying makes me sad for a little while to be honest but when it's people I idolise, it hits hard.

In the future, Adele would be one but I'm slightly older than her so maybe I won't have to!

It'll be very weird and sad when the Queen goes.

OhMyDarling · 14/04/2019 22:49

The Queen
Attenborough

I have to say I was very sad when Bowie and Flint died. Cried for them both and for the memories they brought back. And I think it was grief. Their music played a huge part of my childhood and teen years. I know we weren’t actually friends, I’m not deluded, but they were a part of my life.

ReginaGeorgeous · 14/04/2019 22:50

George Michael, Bobby Robson and Chester Bennington were three that really upset me.

In future: David Attenborough, David Jason, Maggie Smith.

AHintOfStyle · 14/04/2019 22:51

Mine absolutely will be the guys from Duran Duran
and many many others but I can’t imagine hearing that John Taylor has died. I was thinking about this earlier. And just...no!!

Loopytiles · 14/04/2019 22:53

No one, I don’t understand that level of fandom, or (although I enjoy music, film etc) getting that much, on an emotional level, from a person’s creative work.

SrSteveOskowski · 14/04/2019 22:54

@formerbabe, David Jason for me too.

TheFairyCaravan · 14/04/2019 22:54

It'll be really weird when the Queen dies. It'll take ages to get used to hearing people talk about the King.

David Attenborough can't die. There must be a law about that somewhere.

maxinespalour · 14/04/2019 22:55

David Attenborough and Neil Young Sad
Looking at the longer picture, someone like Bobby Gillespie dying would make me feel very old (and sad!)

maxinespalour · 14/04/2019 22:56

Oh and the remaining Beatles, that will hit me and my Beatles loving dc hard!

ToEarlyForDecorations · 14/04/2019 22:57

I think I actually cried when Rik Mayall died. It was as if I had lost a good friend.

I was upset with disbelief when Amy Winehouse died.

Heyarnold91 · 14/04/2019 22:59

The queen definitely!
When the news broke about Steve Irwin, I cried

WellGoshDarnIt · 14/04/2019 23:00

George Michael - I remember travelling back from my mum's house on xmas night and properly crying when radio 2 were playing loads of his music.
Freddie Mercury
Prince, (he died on my birthday too)

Twolipstulips · 14/04/2019 23:00

I wouldn’t t call it fandom. Just what i liked as a child and adult.

I grew up with Dylan playing, and then meat loaf. How could I not miss them?

OP posts:
Greensleeves · 14/04/2019 23:02

Alan Rickman

Loopytiles · 14/04/2019 23:05

But it’s either fandom of the individual, or getting something quite deep / emotional out of the art. Or something else - attaching your own experiences/emotions to the art or artist?
