I've never been before, it's far too fancy for us! But going today just to try it.
Is there anything that you really love that I should try?

@thesheepofallstreet you've found the chocolate swiss roll too! It's so unassuming there in the shelf but it's amazing isnt it?!

Ivegotthree · 13/04/2019 22:32

The lime curd yoghurt is also insane. I ate two tonight.

TheSheepofWallSt · 13/04/2019 23:22

@MissChanandlerbong

It is literally the best 1.50 I have ever spent. At least 100 times.
So the best £150 I’ve ever spent.... Blush

Still worth it.

happyon · 13/04/2019 23:31

Best fruit and veg of any supermarket, though over packaged. Very good pasta, tea, coffee (no 4 blend), cheese scones, Greek yoghurt and cheese and onion sausage rolls. I don’t rate their crisps. Wine ok but selection is limited.

ShivD · 13/04/2019 23:40

The Cornish cruncher cheddar bake thing, it is AMAZING.

MyElbowIsItchy · 13/04/2019 23:44

The pasta and pine nut salad.
Their Charlotte potato salad. Their 4 pack garlic stonebreads.

Violetroselily · 13/04/2019 23:46

Pink lady apple juice is beautiful

Also:
Dutch shortcake biscuits
Indian ready meals
The little tubs of mini rolls, brownies etc
Swiss roll
Fake wotsits
Pork and apple crisps

34plus4 · 14/04/2019 01:34

@barryfromclareisfit
It's definitely not! So thank you!!

I LOVE all of these comprehensive lists I knew MN would be the right place to ask🤣

I didn't get chance to go today going tomorrow instead, are we sure about the tinned curry?

Fresh baguette
Old fashioned puddings in the chiller section like bread and butter pudding
Strawberry and cream yogurt
Marinated olives in the Mediterranean chilled section

Destinysdaughter · 14/04/2019 07:55

I love their goats cheese and red onion tartlets
The little salads with nuts in ( superfood salad?)
The pre marinated whole chicken in a roasting bag
The roast beef and horseradish sauce sandwiches
Their yummy deli bits and pieces, great for a picnic!
The cheesy puffs😀

I would put money on people not being able to pick M&S stuff out in a blind tasting. Nobody ever could on Eat Well For Less

I think I could.

SmellTheGlove · 15/04/2019 13:28

Colin the Caterpillar cake! Now in mini size too! Delicious and iconic! Also the chocolate biscuits, 'extra chocolately' or something in a box. More chocolate covering than biscuits, excellent edge nibbling potential.

(Although annoying to see there is now a pink version of Colin with a girl's name - because obviously girls could not possibly eat a cake in green packaging called Colin. So if M&S are reading this, less genderised nonsense please!).

Gingerkittykat · 15/04/2019 13:36

The wedneslaydale and carrot chutney sandwich.
The pine nut and pesto pasta salad, a cut above other supermarket versions.

The Dine in deal.
Some of the prepared salads.

KeptTheBeachesShipwreckFree · 15/04/2019 13:43

Their chocolate roll bite things in a bucket. They're delicious. Not keen on anything else.

Aquathest · 15/04/2019 14:00

We love M&S food. As an Ocado user too, it will be interesting when Ocado start selling M&S products as opposed to Waitrose.

As for favourite things, I second Percy Pig sweets and one of my favourite ready meals (when I am feeling lazy) is the Beef Mac and Cheese Smile

Madbengalmum · 15/04/2019 17:32

As an M& S regular I am sure I could tell the difference.

duckduckgoose2 · 15/04/2019 17:37

I bet I could - the Cornish clotted cream honeycomb ice cream and honey comb cornettos, lovely Easter eggs, lovely eggs, better fruit than anywhere else and cheesecake.

Bowchicawowow · 15/04/2019 17:38

I quite like their meat joints in a tin tray. They are quite handy. I think M&S isn’t perfect but when I am out and about, especially when I am using trains, I thank god for M&S. I know their sandwiches and snacks are lovely.

viques · 15/04/2019 17:43

Please could I urge everyone to buy their cool tortilla chips, the ones that come with five small bags in a large bag. I love them dearly and am worried that unless lots of other people buy them too they will discontinue them.

Their Belgium milk chocolate covered toffee popcorn so are pretty special as well, so very special that the evil ones at the O2 security gates have a special device which spots them even when they are pushed right down at the bottom of your bag so they can confiscate them and share them out later when they have their break. The bastards.

duckduckgoose2 · 15/04/2019 17:44

Can’t wait til Ocado start doing M&S - they’ve needed an online delivery service for eons

nbee84 · 15/04/2019 18:19

To those saying same food as other supermarkets, different packaging - I know that their white sliced loaves are baked by Brace's. But I could always taste the difference. I met Mr Brace (now deceased, he lived near my parents) and I asked him about it. He said that they did indeed bake some bread for M&S but the recipe was different to their own branded loaves as M&S have quite strict rules on some of their ingredients - one of them being salt.

Madbengalmum · 15/04/2019 18:27

I know that the factories that produce the prepared meals, deli items and pies etc are used solely by m&s for production as my oh's company used to do work in a regular basis there and they were the strictest and cleanest food factories he went to as well, and he went to them all. There are some companies products i will not eat because of the stories he tells.

JasperTheFriendlyGhost · 15/04/2019 18:30

Mini Colin the caterpillars for you the kids

SpamChaudFroid · 15/04/2019 18:37

Not much really - I much prefer Waitrose and Aldi.

But their tubs of mini all butter flapjacks are delicious, 2 for £4 I think? Best shop bought flapjack by far.

Some of the Gastropub ready meals are fairly decent. Also look out for yellow stickered items at end of day - I once found a whole lobster for a fiver!

VictoriaReal · 15/04/2019 18:38

How anyone can suggest Morrison's ready meals are comparible to M&S is beyond me! Just check the ingredientson a Morrison's meal- full of additives, E numbers, thickeners, excessive sugar and salt and saturated fat. Yuck.

M&S is more expensive because the ingredients are better and list is considerably shorter.
