Has anyone read the book “Froth on the cappuccino?” A whole book on this topic!
Fab thread OP
Mine are:
holding my daughters chubby soft hand when she was younger
clean sheets on the bed
opening a fresh jar of coffee and piercing that waxy seal and smelling the new coffee
warm almond croissant 🥐
a clean / tidy house to come home to after a holiday
that first cup of Earl grey tea in the morning that is drunk sat out on the patio where the birds are singing and the sun is shining - the promise of a lovely day

IDrinkAndISewThings · 06/04/2019 21:49

Catching ds and dd curled up on the couch together watching telly under a blanket

Clean sheets (so long as I'm first in!)

Walking in and picking up my Starbucks mobile order from the counter and the staff saying hi when they see me (my weekly treat on a Monday Smile)

Warm photocopies of the printer

Seeing my cat stretch in the sunny patch on the floor

flameycakes · 06/04/2019 21:49

A warm spring day with a breeze, tipping my head to the sky, eyes closed, just breathing and feeling x

A hug from my 19yo DS
Catching sight of my DD (nearly 17) walking through a crowd and seeing her a beautiful, confident young woman with the world at her feet

watching them sleep (bit creepy that one Grin )

cuddle from DH and when he brings me coffee (and chocolate)

Going to the airport on holiday - the creeping out of the house at 2am to drive there .
The plane taxi-ing along , turning at the top, then speeding up for take-off .

Mummyilovejokes1 · 06/04/2019 21:53

Getting back to our bed when we have been away, nothing ever compares to our bed.
Checking in on my children before i go to bed, they look peaceful and beautiful and i always smile.
Silence after a busy day, like now the kids and dp are asleep so im chilling with no tv on

Dapplegrey · 06/04/2019 21:56

Rain on the windows at night
The smell inside a church
A crackling log fire
Walking barefoot
The sound of the sea

That’s a really nice list dementedma

madeyemoodysmum · 06/04/2019 21:58

Last summer I really loved sitting on my back step with a coffee. Kids at school. Watching the bumble bees on my lavender working away before the heat of the day set in. It was bliss.

elephantoverthehill · 06/04/2019 21:58

Watching the robins coming in for the worms after I have been digging. How does such a watchful, curious, clever and friendly bird survive with legs thinner than matchsticks?

SoMuchToBits · 06/04/2019 22:04

I almost forgot - a browse through the latest Playmobil catalogue! Grin

NuclearReactor · 06/04/2019 22:07

A cup of tea out on the deck on a sunny morning - heaven!

beela · 06/04/2019 22:08

A cup of tea first thing in the morning, before anyone else is awake
The first digestive biscuit out of a new packet
Hugs from my dc
Singing
The smell of a cake in the oven
A tidy house (rare)
New socks
An evening at home on the sofa with dh and wine

Timewarpdancer · 06/04/2019 22:09

Taking my brazier off.
Buying new stationery.
Starting my Christmas countdown
Getting into fresh bedding
Someone making me a cup of tea

EssentialHummus · 06/04/2019 22:11

Waking up before DD and having a quiet coffee to myself.

Palominoo · 06/04/2019 22:12

Why the hell are you lugging a brazier around? Grin

Wink

Mother87 · 06/04/2019 22:13

When one of our DCats 'sneaks' into the bedroom as soon as DH leaves every morning and squeaks (to ask for permission i presume) before jumping onto the bed for a cuddle

Mother87 · 06/04/2019 22:17

Seeing very elderly DM & DF almost every day... and them still being able to go for coffee/meet me/wander around the shops or a market until they get tired... Never take it for granted... (DF still irons all our shirts and DM does the tshirtsGrin- they DO offer! And I never refuseBlushGrin)

Mother87 · 06/04/2019 22:19

Any hug/nicety from any DC that you haven't solicited in any wayGrin

BlueMerchant · 06/04/2019 22:22

Being engrossed in a really good book.
The moment you settle down to watch a good movie.
A walk with my OH, DC and puppy around the woods I used to play in as a child.
A relaxing bath then new PJs.

Blompitude · 06/04/2019 22:26

Spring flowers
Birdsong in the morning
Stroking my cats
An unexpected hug from my DDs
Opening a new jar of Marmite!

Moonflower12 · 06/04/2019 22:26

My DDs face when I pick her up from the classroom.

My DDog stretching on me to love me.

A text from my grown up DC.

A text from my DP when he is on an ambulance shift.

One of 'my' children from my class being so excited to see me in 'real life'.

Mother87 · 06/04/2019 22:27

Seeing a film alone (armed with a gigantic coffee/picnic/shoes off) / swimming in the warm sea / lemon tea brought upstairs by DH /DS 21 still wanting to do ANYTHING with me like see a film or go for hot choc or go trainer shopping (as such things can be deemed totally uncool of course) /getting into the car for a while and Woman's Hour just comes on (I COULD of course time my drive for 10am weekdaysBlushbut life doesn't always run to schedule)... loads to be grateful for...

Strokethefurrywall · 06/04/2019 22:31

The crack of the spine and the smell of a brand new book being opened.

The smell when you get off the plane when you arrive at your chosen holiday destination. That smell that says "holiday".

Waking up in your own time to the smell of french roast coffee.
