Weird things your DH does (lighthearted!)

I love my DH dearly but sometimes I do shake my head a bit at things he does that I find completely baffling.

The most recent one I've found this week- he takes his wedding ring off to do a poo.

What odd but totally harmless things does your DH do? Grin

Rainbodash Wearing shoes whilst lying on the sofa? That would REALLY annoy me!

bubblesthree · 07/04/2019 19:06

Has some weird twitch with his leg....moves it repeatedly up and down when we are lying in bed - annoys the hell out of me.

JaneEyre07 · 07/04/2019 19:14

Oh god, where do I start? He's a compulsive tidier but of the "out of sight out of mind" mentality. He puts things in the dirty laundry, important paperwork on the fire. I can't put a piece of paper down and go back to it Angry Yesterday I got the blender out to make a shake in for breakfast, got the milk from the fridge and turned round to see he'd put it back in the fecking cupboard.

I can't believe I'm not behind bars most days...................

wanderings · 07/04/2019 19:42

@Mummyilovejokes1 My way of mitigating this is to insist we all sit quietly for a couple of minutes before we go. Any "have we got this that the other" requests to be made during that time only! Speak now, or for ever hold your peace.

Cocolepew · 07/04/2019 19:59

He randomly starts singing Im Just An Oakie From Muskogee, at least 3 or 4 times a week. Usually while waiting for the kettle to boil.
Has to change into his "comfy clothes" as soon as he comes in, these are ratty shorts and t-shirts.
Never wears socks or slippers in the house but constantly complains of cold feet.
Uses hot water to clean his teeth.

barneymcgroo · 07/04/2019 20:02

@spaniorita I do this too - it's inherited.

My adult DS eats everything you'd need a spoon for - soup, cereal etc - with a teaspoon. I'd never really registered it until he came back from Uni one time and queried it - apparently it's because I never told him he could graduate to a big spoon. He has a proper job and everything now - still uses a teaspoon.

DH isn't too weird other than the compulsive over-stirring off stuff. Chilli and rice the other day - he must have spent 3 solid minutes stirring them into each other before he started eating. Cereal - he stirs it into the milk for so long that outside the season has changed.

Wobblington · 07/04/2019 20:09

Dp keeps putting the washing up bowl on its side in the sink when empty. He thinks the dirties should be stacked on the side until ready to wash. I can't stand shit on the side and think they should live in the washing up bowl - when the bowl is full it's time to wash.

His sideways bowl gives me the rage everytime I see it. Its testament to how much I love him that I let him get away with this bollocks

Pinkyponkcustard · 07/04/2019 20:12

My mates husband brushes his teeth with hot water from the hot water tap!

wanderings · 07/04/2019 20:17

He sometimes wears traditional old-school plimsolls, those which are black with elastic instead of laces, which belong firmly in the twentieth century. I mean, why those, instead of comfy trainers? Mind you, I'm glad he doesn't wear sliders and socks, like the youth of today seem to favour so much.

7salmonswimming · 07/04/2019 20:18

Before opening a parcel or a letter my DH always - ALWAYS - has to inspect the front, back, sides (if a box), postmark, handwriting (if applicable), all the while saying "what's this?? Who's it from?! Why did [whoever] send me [whatever]?" and other pointless questions.

Just open it, ffs! It's literally in your hands, you can solve this mystery IMMEDIATELY!

barneymcgroo · 07/04/2019 20:20

Does "the toast dance" every morning where he flaps the toast round the kitchen to cool it rather than butter it warm

I'm sorry, what? Hot buttered toast is one of the finest things in life. That is plain weird.

Aimily · 07/04/2019 20:21

He's good at housework, as in helping out and doing stuff... But he randomly comes home from wirk/gym day dependant and has a full on clean of the kitchen. I mean emptying cupboards, cleaning shelves, on hands and knees scrubbing the floor etc... Usually mid week 🤔 I love it because it means my kitchen is more sparkley, but it's generally clean anyway?
I empty the cupboards and clean them out maybe every 3 months or so, floor gets steam mopped weekly, wiped over every couple of days, swept daily. So it feels odd. But he's happy so I won't knock it.

Also he is nesting (1st LO due July) redecorated the bathroom last weekend, planning kitchen next. Man on a mission!

Thisnamechanger · 07/04/2019 20:21

DP moves his food around his plate with his knife and fork. He doesn't seem to actually move it anywhere for any reason. He just has to touch touch it over and over again with his knife and fork.

My late DM did it too, it makes me stabby.

Thisnamechanger · 07/04/2019 20:22

7salmonswimming
Omg that's so funny

Raspberry88 · 07/04/2019 20:27

First off - the house is clean, bathroom cleaned regularly . My dh every time he sits down on the loo has a shit he lines the loo seat with toilet paper !

OMG! Mine too. According to him it's a temperature thing, warms the seat for him. What's weirder is that he thinks I'm strange for not doing this! Also that he moans about how much loo roll we use, as if it's just me weeing that does it!

butterflykiss00 · 07/04/2019 20:29

My DP is so sensitive to touch, if I put my hand on him or something he'll start scratching it like a lunatic in an annoyed manner Angry fucks me off every time Angry

Kylieemilyj · 07/04/2019 20:48

my lovely DP has taken to wearing his shoes while chilling on the sofa too! Its been a recent thing as well, he never used to, but the last few weeks I come downstairs to find him asleep on the sofa, still dressed with his trainers or work boots on. How can he sleep like that??!
He also can never finish a can of drink, especially alcoholic. He will quite often get a can from the fridge or cupboard and drink maybe a few sips but then gets bored. It bugs me a lot more since being pregnant because hes wasting valuable booze I really would love to be drinking right now.

Cocolepew · 07/04/2019 20:48

I eat things with a teaspoon too, its just nicer Grin

CoperCabana · 07/04/2019 20:54

I do the sideways bowl thing, in other peoples houses. I don’t like a bowl myself (don’t know why). But I like to wash up in a particular order and I hate it I am presented with a bowl of dirty dishes with water in to get stuck into. What about the sharp knives for example? Washing up should be either put in dishwasher or stacked on the side, but never, ever in the sink/bowl.

namemcnamechange · 07/04/2019 21:08

@Eminybob I eat Frosties without milk and also stir my ice cream so it resembles a porridge type mixture before eating! Your DH is doing some things right Grin

SheWoreBlueVelvet · 07/04/2019 21:12

Mine will only eat food that’s thermo nuclear and then does the sucking air in thing with his mouth to cool it.
Swear he has never actually tasted any hot food properly in his life.

PirateWeasel · 07/04/2019 21:15

@7salmonswimming Mine does this too!! 😂

SummerintoAutumn · 07/04/2019 21:38

Mine can only come down the stairs one at a time.
So first foot down, then second foot onto the same step then same routine for the next step.
All the way down the bloody stairs 😡

forgotMyusernameAgain · 07/04/2019 21:41

Mines a tidier but half a tidier. He'll dry the dishes but leave them on the counter rather than put them away., he'll take the bin bag out of the bin ready to go out, but just leave it in the middle of the kitchen. I think he thinks we have magic finishing elfs that do it for him. He will also put half eaten donuts etc back in the packet if he cant quite eat a whole one Envy
