Mothers day dinner - what's on your plate?

Looking for some inspiration as I feel I'm getting boring and predictable. Preparing a mothers day dinner this evening and I always go for the usual roast beef or chicken. I had thought about making lasagne but we had that with friends on Friday.

I also have 3 quarters tub of sour cream left over in the fridge....

Nothing exciting here. I'm full of a bad cold and was just glad to ship DH and the kids off to his mum's so I could try and catch up on some sleep after being up most of last night with a hacking cough.

Gin
(Getting a rare child-free pub trip, no idea what the kids are being fed)

We went out. I had:

Prosecco
Tomato & basil soup
Sea bass, scallops, prawns & pea risotto
Gin
Clementine tart

We ordered a curry and it was delicious 😋

Just Percy Pigs. No prep, no clean-up.

Fillet steaks with spicy miso butter, taters in Parmesan cream, asparagus. Recipes from the fabulous Chrissy Teigen!

DS has made brownies for after Grin

DH is going out to get me a curry once the kids are in bed Grin

Chinese takeaway. DH forgot he had promised to cook, worked in the garden all day and was trying to doze off on the sofa. DS asked him what we were having, cue frantic fridge search and me pointing him to the takeaway menu from the other side of a large glass of wine.

We had spaghetti Bol and apple pie and lemon meringue pie. All my faves in one day.

And a box of after eights!

We did an afternoon tea type thing for my Mum. Up early and baked: cherry scones; lemon drizzle cake; rose flavoured fairy cakes; cheese and sundried tomato scones; butternut, goats cheese, garlic and pinenut tartlets; and ham and cucumber sandwiches.
The kids helped (stressful) but was a lovely feast when it was all done. Supper was a quick bit of pasta and pesto.

Crunchymum · 31/03/2019 20:04

We had Dominos.

My older 2 and DP just got in from a destination wedding (baby was ill, we didn't go so haven't seen them since Friday!) andI wanted something easy that I didn't have to cook.

StylishDuck · 31/03/2019 20:08

DH is cooking steak with chips and garlic mushrooms, followed by tiramisu, all washed down with a bottle glass of Prosecco. Then I intend to sit with my feet up and watch Line of Duty. Bliss.

Disneymum1993 · 31/03/2019 20:38

Dp cooked lovely sausage casserole with mash and roast tatties and lots of veg then homemade frozen yoghurt washed down with homemade lemonade was beautiful

Millie2013 · 31/03/2019 21:10

I cooked prawns in brandy sauce for my mum, she cooked crepe Suzette for dessert. I think the 1970s was her favourite decade Grin

RekhaSharda · 31/03/2019 21:39

We have had afternoon tea followed by deli city’s mixed grill and salad

DwayneDibbly · 31/03/2019 21:41

Leftover lamb tagine and a bag of chips! Chased down with a can of gin and tonic. I can highly recommend Lone Wolf.

PotterHead1985 · 31/03/2019 22:06

@LadyMonicaBaddingham so it was lovely. Only things I'd change - cook the bloody beans for longer than they say Grin. And I'd like less fatty loin chops. But still gorgeous. The Mammy doesn't eat new potatoes with skin and she ate these. Also I couldn't get red skinned ones - damn backwards little island Ireland!!!

I made chicken and veg fajitas and nachos. Followed by a lemon and raspberry posset.

Hadenoughofitall441 · 31/03/2019 22:20

Cod and chips from the chip shop brought for me by DS11 😊😂
