How much do you pay for sky?

PFB2 · 29/03/2019 13:11

We currently pay £45 for TV. This includes HD channels, movies & sport, sky go extra, Kids channels & entertainment channels.

I recently phoned them and negotiated our price down to this.

Only thing is, my friend has told me that she has sky tv, all the same channels plus broadband and phone line for £30 per month. I can't believe she is possibly getting all of that at that price but she assures me she is.

I'm just interested to know if I'm paying more than what most others are paying?

Thanks.

Christ, we pay nearly £90 for not so superfast broadband and the box sets TV package, so not even films or sport. Never tried to negotiate it down though.

cliquewhyohwhy · 29/03/2019 13:25

Broadband, sky tv with kids and movies, I pay £60.

Monkeybunkey · 29/03/2019 13:27

Unlimited broadband, line rental, Sky Talk (pay as you go so no inclusive calls), full HD box sets package plus full HD sports package. Just over £100 per month.

Aph413 · 29/03/2019 13:29

Unlimited broadband, sky talk line rental (pay as you talk), full tv package and sports, £65 a month. Currently also have free kids tv which should be another £10

Romax · 29/03/2019 13:31

£55
Basic sky tv package
Sky cinema
Super fast broad band
Basic phone package
Sky go

Romax · 29/03/2019 13:32

Wow I have a good deal!

Lolly34h · 29/03/2019 13:33

If your contract is up ring the provider and say your out of contract and want to negotiate a new one

Youngandfree · 29/03/2019 13:35

Absolutely nothing, no sky, no broadband, no home phone, no tv in fact. 😂 I have unlimited internet on my phone so I hook my laptop up to that if necessary. And my mum very kindly let’s me use her Netflix 😊

Romax · 29/03/2019 13:39

@Youngandfree

Genuine question. What made you click on this thread?

nutsfornutella · 29/03/2019 13:41

Fibre broadband, phone line, sky TV £38

nutsfornutella · 29/03/2019 13:44

When you negotiated, did you call to cancel and negotiate the discount on the same day? For the biggest discount you call to cancel, knock back their offer. After 2 weeks they offered my half price then after 3 weeks it was down to 75% off.

nutsfornutella · 29/03/2019 13:44

My tv package is basic - no kids channels

Tooner · 29/03/2019 13:45

We just have the TV. £70 for the whole shebang plus two multiroom boxes upstairs. I always ring them when my contract is up to negotiate a better price, would never pay full price. Have told them to cancel a few times (few nailbiting weeks as the contract end date looms.haha but I hold my nerve) and always had a call back with a new offer. It also massively depends on who you speak to, I've often rang back and got a different operator who offers me a good deal.

7salmonswimming · 29/03/2019 13:49

Nothing. It's a rip-off. Nothing good comes of it.

Posted this reply to annoy people who say things like "why did you click on this link?". And also to actually say that it's a rip-off. Because it's an open forum. See?

MotherofTerriers · 29/03/2019 13:52

Over £100 a month, about to cancel it. If they offer a good deal fair enough but otherwise will probably switch to freeview and Netflix

Prequelle · 29/03/2019 13:53

Wow aren't you edgy 7salmon

Youngandfree · 29/03/2019 13:56

@Romax honestly because i find it interesting how much these things cost and that they can be so variable and every so often I toy with the idea of getting a tv and sky but then I read threads like these and opt not to.😂🙈

7salmonswimming · 29/03/2019 13:57

It's been a slow day, Prequelle

itsnotso · 29/03/2019 13:58

I'm thinking I don't get a good deal🤷🏻‍♀️
Full tv package including movies, kids, sports, cinema etc
£46

No broadband or phone line as thats with BT

Romax · 29/03/2019 14:26

@7salmonswimming

I think a bit of chill out time in front of some good quality Tv is exactly what you need. You seem somewhat tightly coiled!

foxyknoxy30 · 29/03/2019 14:30

We pay £60 a month just renegotiated for all tv except sport broadband and line rental but the broadband is shit and apparently I am on their loyal customer list!!

FrozenYogurt · 29/03/2019 14:37

We pay £50 for phone, broadband and Movies. It was a lot higher but I negotiated down a few months ago.

Word of advice, say you're considering leaving - they came back to me with a discount seven times in the same phone call, each time making a lower and lower offer until I finally agreed to another contract. It pays to stay firm and wait for them to lure you back with an offer you're willing to take.

Tomtontom · 29/03/2019 14:40

£23 for TV plus box sets plus broadband. Everything except sports and movies. Line rental for £5 from BT (special rate for disabled customers).

MrsKipling1980 · 29/03/2019 14:46

We pay nothing. We have freeview plus which gives us plenty of choice. Anything else our nice friend downloads for us. We pay £10 each per month for calls, texts & internet on our phones.

As much as we'd love Sky/Virgin etc we just can't justify giving our hard earned money to these big companies. I'd rather save the money or go out for a nice meal at the end of the month.

My mum pays £70 a month for Virgin & hardly watches it & the stuff she does watch are repeats of Summer Wine or Porridge. Don't see the sense in it.

igotdemons · 29/03/2019 14:52

£19 a month for the Entertainment package and HD channels - this includes the £2 a month increase that they’re putting on from April as I renegotiated that when I called them up in February.
