Do you ever look at someone and think I really want to give them a make over ? There’s a Mum I see on the school run, probably about 40

Lovely slim body, and I thjnk she could really improve her look as she wears these baggy jeans
Awful trainers and fleeces and her hair is like a bush
I think even if she wanted to dress casually, she would look so so much better with some jeans that fitted well, some nice smart trainers, she’s. It not making the most of herself, somedays she clearly works as she will wear a skirt with heals and a fleece

I wouldn’t want to be so rude or ever say anything but I just think could sill dress just as causally, bit look so much better

@WeeMadArthur we must be siblings then because I swear the OP is MY judgyfucker of a mother.

I wear fleeces, tracksuit trousers and trainers for various reasons, the main one being that I have widespread neuropathy and hypersensitivity to touch. The other reason being that they are comfy and clean. I also have reasonably bushy wavy hair AND I didn’t wear makeup to the supermarket or on the school run.

My body, my face, my business. Judge away; I don’t give a shiny shit.

At the end of the day @LardLizard I can change my appearance if I want to.

You, however can’t change that nasty judgy nature of yours.

SheSaidNoFuckThat · 29/03/2019 12:24

No @howabout nobody should ever want to be a wannabe River Island clone

Hazeintheclouds · 29/03/2019 12:24

You can say things on here you wouldn’t dream of saying in rl (OP)

Of course. That is rather stating the obvious. It is important to consider spelling and punctuation, however, if you wish to be taken seriously that is...

How sad😳😕😔😔😔😔

Jaxhog · 29/03/2019 12:25

Judgmental of me I know, but when I see people I know wearing the same clothes they had on yesterday with yesterday’s mud or food dried on, I am internally wondering why not change into fresh clothes for the new day.

Possibly because they are busy mums with limited time? Or just have better things to do with their time! How many people have time to change into fresh clothes every day! (Or maybe you have a servant to do this, so don't understand how long this actually takes?)

Lweji · 29/03/2019 12:25

somedays she clearly works as she will wear a skirt with heals and a fleece

It really depends on her work.

Imagine she is a vet and goes out to farms on work days. Grin

GreatDuckCookery · 29/03/2019 12:26

I don’t think it’s particularly awful to think that someone might look better in your opinion if they wore something different. Obviously if you said to their face then that would be but idly thinking it to yourself isn’t exactly a crime.

IHateUncleJamie · 29/03/2019 12:26

Oh, and to answer your question, @lardlizard? No. Because it’s none of my business what anyone else looks like and I’m not a shallow twat.

HTH.

DarlingNikita · 29/03/2019 12:27

I look at MYSELF and think I really want someone to give me a makeover. The Queer Eye guys, ideally. They can do my house while they're at it. And Antoni can make me a salad while I just gaze at him.

Calloway · 29/03/2019 12:27

It is important to consider spelling and punctuation, however, if you wish to be taken seriously that is...

^^

Any criticisms with the structure of this sentence?

teyem · 29/03/2019 12:28

Well, I just don't have any inclination to judge people over their clothes. It's not on my radar. And I'm not much of an outlier in any other respect, I'm pretty sure I won't be in a small minority.

PortiaCastis · 29/03/2019 12:29

Comma splice?

BertrandRussell · 29/03/2019 12:30

I wouldn’t worry. OP-she’s 40. She’ll be dead soon.

Langrish · 29/03/2019 12:30

“...... know wearing the same clothes they had on yesterday with yesterday’s mud or food dried on, I am internally wondering why not change into fresh clothes for the new day.”

Not much point washing dog walking trousers, be doing it every day in winter. Would rather risk the chagrin of the wider community than waste water and detergent.

Hazeintheclouds · 29/03/2019 12:30

With the structure?

HarrySnotter · 29/03/2019 12:31

How many people have time to change into fresh clothes every day! (Or maybe you have a servant to do this, so don't understand how long this actually takes?)

Sorry, I totally disagree with this. Most people change into fresh clothes every day, why wouldn't they? Albeit there are some things you may wear more than one day, not if it's dirty. It takes the same amount of time to get dressed to matter what you're wearing so the comment about a servant is a little churlish. Lots of us are or have been busy mums with lots to do.

Hazeintheclouds · 29/03/2019 12:31

Comma splice?! It is parenthesis.

PortiaCastis · 29/03/2019 12:32

Grin Bertrand that made me laugh

bibbitybobbityyhat · 29/03/2019 12:32

If I have any quiet thoughts to myself at all (and I really do try not to) it's usually of the I'd love to see you without half a ton of makeup/lip fillers/false eyelashes etc variety.

FiddleFaddleDingDong · 29/03/2019 12:33

I don't want to give anyone a makeover but I frequently think to myself things like 'those skinny jeans do nothing for that stocky man', 'her false eyelashes are a bit much for this hour of the morning'. Idle thoughts when I'm sitting on a train.

zoellafortitude · 29/03/2019 12:33

I couldn't live without my fleeces. I have some Koko Pink ones which are seamed to still give me shape. Not that I care much these days. I am deep in the country and my main thing is dog-walking.

I bought a few jumpers recently to try and be different, but have already snagged one of my new knits and unravelled the whole elbow Angry. Cats and dogs catch their claws on them. Expensive and not even as warm as the fleeces. Plus, they're a bugger to care for.

Sometimes it easier to just be practical, I find.

HolyForkingShirt · 29/03/2019 12:33

Albeit there are some things you may wear more than one day

Thanks for the permission! Mumsnet would have a fit if they found out how may times I re-wear things before washing...Grin

BitsOfYellowFallingOff · 29/03/2019 12:34

Thank you OP, the outrage has made for a entertaining read!

This one in particular:
It’s not about saying these things out loud. You shouldn’t even be thinking them.

I honestly can't see what you're all so upset about. One woman doesn't like the way another dresses and imagines makeover to entertain herself and then asks whether other people do that too.
Doesn't sound like an unusual thing to think to me. Then again, I don't really get the outrage on MN over 'judging people' aka 'having opinions on things other people do'.

NewSchoolNewName · 29/03/2019 12:34

How many people have time to change into fresh clothes every day!

Almost everyone?

Unless you sleep in your daytime clothes, you’re going to be putting clothes on in between getting out of bed and leaving the house. I can’t believe that it’s massively harder to grab a fresh set of clothes than it is to pick up yesterday’s dirty clothes.

(And no, I don’t have a servant in charge of dressing me in the morning Hmm )

FiddleFaddleDingDong · 29/03/2019 12:35

'It is important to consider spelling and punctuation, however, if you wish to be taken seriously'

'It is important to consider spelling and punctuation, if you wish to be taken seriously that is...'

Either of those would work better?
