Mine was along the line of 'WIBU to start moisturising my baby so she doesn't get wrinkles' ... I assume it was lighthearted Grin

I posted about my uni dissertation about parental views about vaccines. I was told to remove post. However in the meantime got hooked on all the other posts

ShirazSavedMySanity · 23/03/2019 21:48

It was a lengthy hilarious thread about strange things that people have done in your house. I roared laughing and realised I’d found my people.

DarkestBeforeDawn · 23/03/2019 21:51

Penis beaker here too.

I don’t remember the first, I joined when I was expecting dc1 so at first I just stayed on the April ‘10 bus. The first thread I really followed was EMIN’s drug dependant baby thread. I started reading it the day I had dc1, she was a little bit early & small so was in scbu & I was just looking for something to read to keep me awake while I was cuddling her. Then I followed it once we got home during night feeds.

LittleMissFunTimes · 23/03/2019 21:56

Either a very heated debate about sleep training or some random yet hilarious thread about an au pair and tomato pasta sauce all over the walls. Something like that. Think it got deleted.

Dowser · 23/03/2019 22:05

Penisbeaker
Couldn’t believe my eyes

Now I’m numb to it 😂

HeddaGarbled · 23/03/2019 22:09

Lemon drizzle cake! A friend told me about it and I was instantly hooked.

Blankiefan · 23/03/2019 22:09

It has always stuck with me - a woman asking if she was being unreasonable. Her MIL bought Xmas presents for two out of their three kids but wouldn't buy for the third as he was adopted (I think the 3rd was the child of OP's dead friend) The OP was torn between wanting her whole family treated the same and not wanting to cut her other two off from a grandparent. I think she laid down the law with MIL in the end.

Totally hooked me in to mumsnet tho!

cliffdiver · 23/03/2019 22:11

Those of you saying penis beaker... did you happen upon MN because you'd heard of penis beaker or did you just (ahem) come across it?

Penis beaker

InglouriousBasterd · 23/03/2019 22:26

My MW said to go look at netmums and I spelt it backwards and ended up here Grin

Poster had received a text from her nanny in error that was slagging her off. This was many years ago!

AdaColeman · 23/03/2019 22:34

The first thread was by a worried Mum trying to identify what she thought were seed pods tangled into her child's clothes.

Within minutes these had been identified as tape worm egg sacs, and the OP was given masses advice about what to do about her pets and how to keep her child safe in future.

I was so impressed with the wide knowledge and helpful advice given to the by now distraught Mum.

foxyknoxy30 · 23/03/2019 22:44

About a lady who thought she was being stalked/followed ,I remember something about boots or footprints. It gave me a chill

TheBitchOfTheVicar · 23/03/2019 23:00

It was a huge thread about a teacher whose parents were moving back to her home town and she didn't want them to.

It turned into a huuuuuge realisation that they had been abusive all her childhood, ending in prosecution. It was amazing.

thenightsky · 23/03/2019 23:01

Something about strapping babies to rockets and firing them into a middle eastern country.

SeventhWave · 23/03/2019 23:11

... strapping babies to rockets...
Er... what???

Mine was probably something to do with ballet in extra-curricular.

PutYourShirtOnMartin · 23/03/2019 23:19

The new mum who had farted near her baby and wrote a thread asking if her baby would be ok even though it had consumed poo particles...

ChorleyFMcominginyourears · 23/03/2019 23:44

Mine was a woman getting charged by her FIL for accidentally breaking a ridiculously expensive wine glass that they used for every day glasses of wine, got to 1000 comments and never found out how it ended, was hooked by then!

SurgeHopper · 23/03/2019 23:45

Some woman on some island offa the coast of the US who was about to give birth and was pissed at her MIL

Was this one with baubles attached to a bush? I vaguely remember that

YouBoggleMyMind · 23/03/2019 23:48

I heard about Penis Beaker from Twitter I think, after that I just read through classics and then other things after that!

GlitterPixie · 23/03/2019 23:51

Chorley I wanted to know what happened at the end of that one too. It made the newspapers in Australia

MummySharkBabyShark · 24/03/2019 04:19

A thread about a pregnant woman whose ‘partner’ and MIL were American and encouraging her to have the baby in the US, it sounded like the MIL planned to keep the baby there.

I think it was a troll.

Don’t know how I knew to read it though.

thugmansion · 24/03/2019 04:30

I think mine was Pom-Bear

troubleswillbeoutofsight · 24/03/2019 04:37

I was mesmerised by the poster who had got married I think that day. She had discovered something ( can't really remember the post that well) and had left the wedding I think and was sitting in a hotel room by herself. I was amazed at the support she was getting from MN. Can anyone remember this?
