Oh, fantastic! Grin
Yes, agreeing be cagey, keep some back for your evidence and it doesn't matter if they're mouldy you have photographic evidence!

whataremyoption · 26/03/2019 15:53

I love Mumsnet Grin

ilovewelshrarebit123 · 26/03/2019 16:12

I once opened a box of chocolate Weetabix minis and they were all chocolate chips!

I was gutted though as they were so hard I couldn't eat them.

Sent them an email and they sent me a letter and voucher.

Catsandbootsandbootsandcats · 26/03/2019 17:23

Not disgusting, but the weirdest food I had was a cornetto without a cone! It was just ice cream in the wrapper. Very odd! At least I could still eat it. Grin

Palominoo · 26/03/2019 18:26

A few times in my life I have had the Holy Grail of Kit Kats, ones where the wafer is missing and they're all chocolate!

I'd love a cornetto without the cone!

VelociraptorRex · 28/03/2019 20:35

@AllGoodDogs have warburtons offered you a lifetimes supply of crumpets in exchange for your silence yet?

TheresTheFlyingFuckIDontGive · 29/03/2019 13:47

Palominoo, I had one of those once! Amazing!

CoffeeWithMyOxygen · 29/03/2019 13:57

I once had a Twix without any caramel in it. Tweeted them and they sent me a £1 voucher!

M3lon · 29/03/2019 14:42

bwaaahahahaha.

Love that MNtowers are running interference!

M3lon · 29/03/2019 14:46

I once sat through an hour long talk from a scientist that does the investigations when people find things in their food.

He said that most of the time the company apologises even though they can prove the things didn't get in at their end...and that the worst part is all the time you lose to wondering just how the consumers managed to end up accidentally introducing the things themselves!

He said they one had a 100ml glass beaker go missing, and had to do a product recall - not so much because they thought it had gone in the product, but just because you have to be sure....and sure enough the beaker did turn up back at the factory in one piece...but customers returned over 5 kilos of broken glass in the recall.

I found a spider in my chocolate bar once

Got £40 worth of vouchers so I was happy

Shock Envy (definitely envy!)

I once found a beetle baked in a Waitrose mushroom quiche. I thought it was a piece of mushroom until I noticed the legs.
I returned it to the store and only got my money back x2 and a £5 voucher. And they were very offhand about it, as though it was an everyday occurrence, and I was making a big fuss about nothing!

Clawdy · 29/03/2019 22:33

This time of year, about sixty years ago. My mum found a black beetle in a pie she bought from a local baker's shop. She took the pie back to the shop. The shop-keeper said "You could take it to the Public Health, love, but that won't do you or me any good. " He took the pie and handed her a five pound note. She took it straight away! (A lot of money in those days.) On the way out, my brother gazed at some big chocolate Easter rabbits. "Like one, son?" smiled the shop keeper, and handed him the rabbit. Mum said afterwards she'd never go in the shop again, but she had quite fond memories of that day!

Mehaveit · 29/03/2019 22:51

I used to work somewhere that investigated food contamination. You wouldn't believe the number of foreign bodies people introduce themselves and pass off as 'faulty' to claim compo. But it can be dead easy to tell e.g. native UK spider in can sealed in foreign country. People aren't always the brightest.

They'll probably do handwriting analysis with the quality controllers to check your DH didn't write it himself which is perfectly possible but bizarre to you and me.

Am I only one who thought that knee was a baby's head--

I need sleeeeeep--

Vegisgrowingwell · 09/04/2019 11:42

Just found this in my open tabs, I really want to hear the outcome!

SoHotADragonRetired · 09/04/2019 11:59

Just discovered this thread and on tenterhooks for the update. Has OP's husband been unmasked as the Mad Crumpet Numberer? Have crumpets made a surprise appearance on Sesame Street? Have crumpet sales nationwide made an unexpected lea

BlueSkiesLies · 09/04/2019 14:30

A few times in my life I have had the Holy Grail of Kit Kats, ones where the wafer is missing and they're all chocolate!

I never had that with an actual kit kat, but had it quite a few times with a super market own brand!

Laffinalltheway · 09/04/2019 14:42

Kerry Mucklowe: "Mum, there's no holes in my crumpets!"
Mum: "Turn 'em over"
Kerry: "What!"
Mum: "Turn 'em over"
Kerry: "Oh yeah! There they are!"

Classic This Country!

AllGoodDogs · 09/04/2019 15:18

I have dutifully returned all crumpets and the packaging. Have had a letter back last week to say they have been forwarded to the producing bakery for investigating, and they will be in touch again when they have completed the said investigations.

I've not noticed any men in dark glasses following me around, so I don't think I've unearthed any major conspiracy just yet

I'll update when they send me DH a voucher for a free packet ;)

Heismyopendoor · 09/04/2019 15:34

How funny!! I love that people here just knew what it was for!

AllGoodDogs · 16/04/2019 23:39

To round the post off nicely, I can confirm the crumpets were part of a test batch at the factory. I DH has been sent 10 x £1 Warburtons vouchers as compensation.
