Apologies if this has already been linked, but just in case it hasn't, there is a petition to Revoke Article 50 and remain in the EU if anyone is interested. Currently on 52k.

Both the links upthread are giving the same error so that would suggest it's the entire site that's down. Hopefully due to volume of traffic

"Asked and answered" - an objection in Court to prevent barristers asking the same Q to the same witness over and over; kind of applies here. There shouldn't be a 2nd referendum. A referendum was held and a response given, if people regret their (in)action; too bad. It isn't really the right thing to then ask the question again (or slightly differently) to elicit a different response. We don't do this with elections. An election is held and a government formed, we don't re-run the election before the winners have had a chance to for a government. Likewise we can't re-run a referendum until the result of the first has been acted upon.

What we really need if for politicians to now stand up and say, whilst they respect the outcome of the referendum, it has not been possible to construct a method of achieving it; and cancel brexit.

darksideofbuttonmoon · 21/03/2019 09:43

As someone's already mentioned, people refreshing to watch the numbers grow could be contributing to the crashes. So if you have already signed, sit on your hands!

FrancesFryer · 21/03/2019 09:48

Adam

So why does it apply to us but not parliament. We're coming up for the 3rd meaningful vote

NorthernRunner · 21/03/2019 10:05

Finally signed, it said 656,732 signatures so far Shock

wittyusermane · 21/03/2019 10:06

Just managed to confirm my email- 662k now

GottaGetUp · 21/03/2019 10:07

You can watch the numbers here without crashing the site

crosspelican · 21/03/2019 10:07

667k now! It's insane!

Surely they HAVE to listen???

SeaViewBliss · 21/03/2019 10:11

It seems to be going up by about 500 every 30 seconds or so.

wittyusermane · 21/03/2019 10:13

'You can watch the numbers here without crashing the site'

Oooh that's brilliant, thank you @GottaGetUp. That's me well on the way to getting absolutely nothing done today Grin

GottaGetUp · 21/03/2019 10:14

Me too Grin

NoCauseRebel · 21/03/2019 10:14

I voted remain but I am against a second referendum precisely because it was a referendum which got us into this mess in the first place. Plus what happens if leave still wins as the poles are suggesting will still happen? We’re not going to be any closer to an outcome.

This whole thing is shite, make no mistake, but I think we need to resign ourselves to the fact that we are going to crash out with no deal in eight days time.

InfiniteSheldon · 21/03/2019 10:16

My wife ranging FB feed us full of my middle class friends posting this and my working class friends posting we voted for no deal get on with it. This is class war and very upsetting.

ADarkandStormyKnight · 21/03/2019 10:19

We don't HAVE to crash out, or have a second referendum.

Revoke, then get a proper process set up to look at this again. Cross party, maybe a citizens assembly. Then - possibly - another referendum.

IAimToMisbehave · 21/03/2019 10:21

Thanks GottaGetUp I'm another who has, er, lowered my achievement expectations for the day Grin

I'm so thrilled by how successful it is.

TM absolutely does not speak for me with her incendiary bullshit rhetoric AngryAngryAngryAngryAngry

My wide not wife!

wittyusermane · 21/03/2019 10:22

That is exactly my take on it too @ADarkandStormyKnight.

crosspelican · 21/03/2019 10:24

I know that the optics of Revoke are appalling for the leavers, but it really is the best scenario for them too - revoke to avoid disaster next week, and then get political consensus on what to do next, then deploy Article 50 again when they know what the hell the country/majority wants, whether by a referendum or not.

Clawdy · 21/03/2019 10:26

The website's crashed, so many wanting to sign.

Pengrin · 21/03/2019 10:26

an objection in Court to prevent barristers asking the same Q to the same witness over and over; kind of applies here

What if before asking the question for the first time the witness was fed incorrect and misleading information?

Then before asking the second time, it came to light that the information was incorrect and misleading.

The 2 answers would differ, and rightly so.

NorthernRunner · 21/03/2019 13:10

Absolutely insane numbers!

Brexit petition
listsandbudgets · 21/03/2019 14:27

Just under 30000 short of a million now

theDudesmummy · 21/03/2019 14:54

It has just gone over a million

NorthernRunner · 21/03/2019 15:03

My husband thinks it will make no difference but surely over 1million people signing a petition has to be heard??

ADarkandStormyKnight · 21/03/2019 15:06

I don't think Theresa will pay any attention but I bet others do - The EU, MPs, Bercow. It belies the will-of-the-people narrative that they've all been trotting out for more than two years.
