He's snapped her glasses Sad One of the arms has come off.

Not sure what to do... Or say. I don't really speak to her.

I come over a few times a week to let her dog out. I was unlocking the back door and I turn around and he has them in his hands!

What will I even say? Should I send a text now?

DH isn't going to be happy either.

Still not understanding why you’re letting the dog out. Let your DP do it if it’s his dog. However if the glasses are broken at the hinge your MIL should be able to take them to the opticians and they’ll repair them. I had mine done for free when I trod on them, they were only cheap ones tho, but be cheaper than a new pair.

This is a nasty thread. I’ve been wearing glasses for a million years and broken loads of pairs. If they are broken at the hinge, they are really easy to repair. Maybe one of the wee screws has come out. My last pair of glasses literally fell off my face one day at work because the arm had snapped off and Specsavers replaced them for free. It’s just an accident; easily sorted.

OK, only got to page 5 and I am so irritated with all those people who know next to nothing about glasses Hmm

I wear glasses. I don;t wear them all the time, but I need them for reading, and computer etc. I cannot even see to read my phone without them, mine were being repaired recently and it was a nightmare.
I have 2 expensive pairs, one with my computer, where I do all my work (work form home) these are varifocals so I can see the text in the book and the screen at a distance.
One by my bed.

I also have about 4 pairs of basic reading glasses, one in the kitchen for recipes, one in my handbag for when I'm out shopping and need to read a label etc. I cannot use a cheap reading glasses pair for more than a minute or two, it gives me a headache.

Just because she is out without her glasses, doesn't mean they aren't expensive and doesn't mean she doesn;'t need them, and doesn't mean she isn't dependant on them.

I am lost without my glasses, but don;t take them with me when out and about, as my cheapy ones will do.

OP - she can go back to the optician, they may mend them under warranty, or they may be able to replace the arm etc. I think you should offer to pay, and if it was my Mum, she would turn down the offer knowing you are skint, sadly your MIL may expect you to pay Sad
But I think I might first phone her up and ask her if her glasses were broken? Just in case they were already broken, and your ds just picked them up

Specsavers for free it isn't free, sorry to disappoint you. If they were bought at specsavers they charge you up to half of the initial cost for breakages and if they can't repair shed need another pair. I have many pairs repaired there.

I hope it turns out well; I really feel for you having to live with being scared of what someone may say and worrying your husband is going to be be angry.
