What are you all making your kids for dinner? Need inspiration for my very picky kids!

My older kid is going through a very (annoying) picky-eater stage!

Need some inspiration. Sick of making pasta! Also think DC eat it too much of it Blush

What are you all making for dinner?

Especially interested in what the vegetarians among you are making! (Picky eater doesn’t really like meat / fish.)

I am making toad in the hole.

Ds will probably eat some chips. Maybe a couple of chicken nuggets too.

You could always do things like jacket potato’s with a choice of toppings?

morningstress · 18/03/2019 16:33

No kids here but I'm going to make some wholewheat pasta, sauce (jar- but the no added sugar version!) and broccoli.

Easy and most kids love pasta, healthier too with the wholewheat and no added sugar sauce.

I like making garlicy chicken but the sauce could go on anything really - it’s just a whole bulb of garlic, stock and plain yoghurt (used instead of cream).
Was even enjoyed over vegetables that normally get turned down!

Erm fish and chips tonight but I’ve asked what everyone would like to feature on the menu this week - food shop tomorrow - and this is the list -
Roast pork, chilli, Indian food - with discussion we decided on chicken curry - and paella - ds has seen it somewhere and wants to try. Oh and we have a family fakeaway and film night too usually on a Saturday with either pizza or burgers or something similar handfood.

Anyone of those help?!

I see nothing wrong with decent sausages as another idea.

Snap! Toad in the hole

AppleJuiceFlood · 18/03/2019 16:38

Homemade panko chicken mini fillets.

TwistedAnkle · 18/03/2019 16:39

We're having briam- a Greek dish of slow baked cougettes / potatoes/ red onions/ toms. With grilled halloumi and home made tzatziki

formerbabe · 18/03/2019 16:39

Chicken goujons, boiled new potatoes, broccoli and sweetcorn

Catscratchclub · 18/03/2019 16:39

Ds is also a picky eater so I’m trying to tempt him into trying more food by having him help cook. Tonight is Pizza - I’m going to get him to try different toppings, and then hopefully he will have the tomato sauce on other mess in future as we live in a sauce-less house right now. Kids are hardcore huh?!

headinhands · 18/03/2019 16:39

Breaded Southern style chicken steaks, oven chunky steak chips and broccoli.

hazeyjane · 18/03/2019 16:40

We are having pasta in afraid....it makes up about 60% of our meals!

Picky eater eill be eating burger and chips though....as that is all he will eat at the moment.

headinhands · 18/03/2019 16:41

Really wanted egg fried rice but poorly with lurgy. Been watching YouTube and I've been doing it all wrong.

Knickersononeshead · 18/03/2019 16:41

Chicken goujons and rice for the younger two, chicken tikka masala and rice for eldest and myself

anniehm · 18/03/2019 16:43

Not kid friendly food tonight here but what worked for me was getting the kids involved in cooking. Tomorrow we have veggie curry (I make 2-3 kinds) rice and chapattis, dd is vegetarian.

NorthEndGal · 18/03/2019 16:43

Chicken teriyaki, soba noodles, stir fried vegetables

NorthEndGal · 18/03/2019 16:44

Trying to use up the last of the napa

happypotamus · 18/03/2019 16:44

No help, because we are having pasta, with tomatoes and peas and courgettes (hoping DC have forgotten that they don't like courgettes). DH turned vegan and I struggle to think of quick, easy dinners that everyone will eat that I can put together between school and brownies.

Sleephead1 · 18/03/2019 16:44

I've not been organised today so we are having brown pittas turned into a pizzas under the grill with salad so mor very exciting today but they are tasty

Heathcliff27 · 18/03/2019 16:46

Kids having pizza, me and DH having pasta. Quick supper tonight

WatchingTheWheels85 · 18/03/2019 16:49

(Vegan) macaroni cheese with caramelized fried onions on top with crispy fried vegan quorn ham and brocoli stirred through.

spritesandunicorns · 18/03/2019 16:53

Herbed pork fillet with roast vegetables. Bought a pork fillet and had no idea what to do with it so found the recipe on google and hoping dc will eat it!

BlackInk · 18/03/2019 16:54

My two are having oven chips with a cauliflower cheese burger and green beans tonight.

Tomorrow will be pittas, hummus and salady bits.
Pasta with homemade pesto or tomato sauce is their favourite.

If your DC like pasta, could you try noodles with stir-fried vegs?

Fooferella · 18/03/2019 16:57

Frozen breaded fish fillets for the adults, fish fingers for DS with McCain's fries with broccoli and peas. This was supposed to be last night's dinner but we couldn't even be arsed to cook the easiest meal on the planet this so we ordered a domino's instead.

Paddingtonthebear · 18/03/2019 16:58

My 6yr old had an early dinner because she has swimming practice tonight. She has aubergine parmigiana. She eats all meat but no fish except tuna. Other veggie options we do for her are falafel wraps with roasted veg/rice/cous cous, pesto pasta, spinach and ricotta enchillada, vegetable lasagne/cannelloni, pizza, soup and a roll (soup is minestrone, chicken, veg or tomato), stuffed red peppers with rice, jacket potato and baked beans, veg chilli and rice, mushroom omelette.
