What are you all making your kids for dinner? Need inspiration for my very picky kids!

My older kid is going through a very (annoying) picky-eater stage!

Need some inspiration. Sick of making pasta! Also think DC eat it too much of it Blush

What are you all making for dinner?

Especially interested in what the vegetarians among you are making! (Picky eater doesn’t really like meat / fish.)

Thanks for the thread OP! Was just about to post similar myself as we have a new FC who is very picky and as we like food A LOT we are struggling for ideas that mean we can all eat together!
So far my main successes have been Turkey rotolo, homemade build-a-burger, homemade pizza (with lots of veg in the tomato sauce), popcorn chicken (chicken goujons with rice krispies coating) and cheese and spinach pinwheels

Connieston · 18/03/2019 17:00

Chicken breast chopped into chunks and fried plus a jar of Pataks Korma, plus rice

monty09 · 18/03/2019 17:07

Mine are having pie chips and carrots with gravy, n I'm having fish fingers and homemade chips.

Beans on toast Grin DS and Dp have this every Monday night. It's always our 'easy tea' night due to work patterns.

I'm 7 months pregnant and don't fancy it, so not sure what I'm having yet. I have salmon and jacket potatoes to be used though so may just throw those on.

Also having this week:
Sausage pasta with tomato and peas
Hidden veggie Mac 'n' cheese with green beans and tomatoes
Chicken hotpot
Chilli and rice
Creamy ham and pea pasta
Turkey and feta burgers
Homemade tomato soup and bread rolls.

BigGlasses · 18/03/2019 17:25

Tonight is steak pie, mash, carrots and brocolli
Tuesday chicken pea and pesto pasta
Wednesday quorn and veg korma
Thursday chilli con carne
Friday salmon, savory rice, baby sweetcorns and mange tout ( I slather mine in sweet chilli sauce, the kids have it plain)

My kids don't really like visible veg hence we eat quite a lot of casserole meals with hidden (diced small) veg.

Dinner for vegetarian dgc. Baked potato, sugar free baked beans, a little grated cheese with carrot and broccoli followed by raspberries and greek yoghurt.

CwtchMeQuick · 18/03/2019 17:39

Tonight DS has had tuna pasta salad. DP and I are having halloumi and butternut squash pasta.

For the rest of the week we’ve got roast dinner, fajitas, balti (DS won’t eat this so will probably do him some kind of chicken stir fry with rice and a drop of soy sauce), chicken/Quorn fillets with fries and veg.

I’m veggie and DS can be fussy (nothing spicy, no visible onions, prefers raw veg) so I tend to do meals that can be adapted for all of us.

MadameJosephine · 18/03/2019 18:10

Other nights will be home made pitta pizzas, meatballs and pasta, scrambled eggs on toast, and homemade shepherds pie

Other things that have gone down well with DS5 are turkey bolognese pasta, one pot pasta, mushroom risotto, baked potatoes with various fillings, chicken fajitas, roast dinner, and pulled pork baguettes with coleslaw etc

lucysmam · 18/03/2019 18:30

We had fish pie with fish fingers as back-up for dd2 who I didn't expect to like it (& she didn't).

Dd1 said it was a bit plain though which is unlike her, she likes most things, so probably won't do it again.

sleepseeker99 · 18/03/2019 18:34

Veggie wise favourites here are omelettes or houmous and pitta or cheesy toast with tomato soup or pizza!

Friedeggsandcustard · 18/03/2019 18:56

random dinner here tonight. Cheesy pasta ( from left overs) oven cooked potatoes (large cubes baked) as ‘chips’ mayonaise for dipping. Cheese for sprinkling. Sliced cucumber and tomatoes on the side. All out on the table and help themselves.

Not terribly healthy but was eaten without complaint including by the 3 year okd recovering from tonsilitus who has lived of nothing but bananas and ice cream all week.

Queenofthebrae · 18/03/2019 18:58

We're having frittata using leftover toppings from yesterday's homemade pizzas.

maddiemookins16mum · 18/03/2019 19:01

We’re having minted lamb burgers from t’butcher, sweet potato wedges and coleslaw and corn on the cob.
