Carrying on from the Tastiest Protestant teaybake thread - I thought I would start a new thread now, so there is no risk of us running out of space and having a traybake-less interregnum!

CelticRose
How long do you bake your traybake for?
It's the one with walnuts, cherries, flaked almonds and condensed milk.

Hellooooooo tray bake lovers!

I thought I would come back to this thread - I was at a knitting and stitching show today, and the local branch of the Scottish Women’s Institute had a stall where they were selling their cookbook. I had a quick look through it, and it seems to have a number of interesting looking cakes and traybakes - and I immediately thought of this thread, and bought the book, and will report back when I’ve had a proper read of it.

I also explained the whole Protestant traybakes thing to the nice ladies on the stall - I think they thought I was a bit odd. But that’s OK because I am. Grin

Found the original thread yesterday and spent a happy Sunday reading it.
On the off chance that any of the original posters see this resurrected from the dead, I have to know - what goes in a Presbyterian salad sandwich?!!
I was thinking it was the egg, onion and tomato filling I have come a cross in Northern Ireland, but egg and onion was mentioned as a separate delicacy in one thread?

I've heard of egg and chive, thankfully haven't encountered egg and onion Weedsnseeds1 but in my experience all church sandwiches should be treated with caution.

The resurrection of this thread is good timing, my DM dropped some leftover traybakes round earlier

I made cherry ripe slices at the weekend, but let the side down by making Barra Brith and parkin as well. Delicious, but far too much baking required to qualify for this thread.

These look just up my street. Need to gather ingredients, and possibly the werthers sweeties instead of butterscotch chips.
