Mine is ‘Riddle me this’. What’s yours?

LadyG I wish to point out that Lush is perfectly acceptable but only if it is prefixed with Gurt, in my book

grumpymummy72 · 16/03/2019 12:20

"We are where we are" when that position is because they didn't do what needed to be done, attempting to distance themselves from all responsibility.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 16/03/2019 12:26

I told a bloke to "Jog On" when he was bothering me at the station.
Not as rude as Fuck Off , I'm a middle aged old bat , so I didn't want to swear but I didn't want to reason or be polite .

Jog On said with enough venom fit the bill Grin

(In my head it was "Jog On ....You Prick " )

Words that used to suffice perfectly well on their own but have now been added to.

Fry off
Train up
Skill set
Price point

The problem with ‘everything happens for a reason ‘ and ‘what’s for you won’t go past you’ is that they are simply not true.

Whereas ‘this too shall pass’ is undoubtedly true and also comforting.

And a reminder that, sadly, the good times don’t last for ever.

The80sweregreat · 16/03/2019 13:07

' it wasn't meant to be'

Savoury99 · 16/03/2019 13:13

Yes "Everything happens for a reason" is a load of rubbish. Young people don't die and people don't get ill for a reason.

I like "Lush", reminds me of Gavin & Stacey (which obviously isn't everyone's taste).

Prequelle · 16/03/2019 13:16

'So this just happened'

'Smacks of'

'That's how the cookie crumbles'

Meet0nTheledge · 16/03/2019 13:17

Whlie I agree with the sentiment of "this too shall pass" I find it twee, clunky and contrived sounding. I prefer "it won't be like this forever"

peasando · 16/03/2019 13:18

'Hubby'. No idea why but it makes me irrationally stabby.

Prequelle · 16/03/2019 13:19

'You're welcome'

As in 'I'll give you an unsolicited recommendation and because I'm so absolutely pompous and sure of my choices I'll smugly pre-empt your gratitude'

peasando · 16/03/2019 13:20

Oh yes, 'reach out'! Grrr grr grr

peasando · 16/03/2019 13:21

Good advice...

Phrases that make you want to slap people in the face?
The80sweregreat · 16/03/2019 13:26

' have a nice day'
The term ' guys' one is usually said in loud burger/ rib type eateries too busy to notice I'm not a man.
Go with the flow is another that winds me up.

Savoury99 · 16/03/2019 13:33

have a nice day and take care

I say these to my friends and family, not strangers though.

I'm studying for an exam in two week and someone said "If you don't know it now you never will" - also not true

Ihopeyourcakeisshit · 16/03/2019 13:37

To die for

babybotox · 16/03/2019 13:42

Boobing. "I was boobing baby".

Fuck. Off.

YES YES YES

Meet0nTheledge · 16/03/2019 13:49

"Baby wearing" makes me cringe too. What's wrong with "using a sling"

WheelyCote · 16/03/2019 14:13
  1. "What you need to do is"....

Aggghhhh euchhhhh!!
Is that right, thank you for your pstronising and responsibility sherking opinions....now sod off.

  1. "Could you do me a favour"

Its not a question. Just say, "need you to do x,y and z.

WheelyCote · 16/03/2019 14:16
  1. "Journey"

Please Noooooooooo. Were all on bloody journeys yes its called life, living.

HarrySnotter · 16/03/2019 14:36

Boobing. "I was boobing baby".

What the actual fuck. If I heard someone say this I would feel compelled to slap them square in the face.

Housewife2010 · 16/03/2019 14:38

No brainer

AlphaJura · 16/03/2019 15:21

'Snow Day' as in, it snows and school is cancelled and people act like they've been given the day off to have fun in the snow. Cue all the photos on fb of people having an amazing #snowday yay!! 🤮🤮

PulyaSochsup · 16/03/2019 16:15

The thinking behind this decision.....

Pretentious twaddle for because.

BunnyColvin · 16/03/2019 16:49

'You might want to...'

Mmm, I also mightn't want to, so DFOD.

'Let's link in with ...' bore off

'rock up' eff off
