Do you take the bottles of shampoo from hotels?

Staying in a hotel that has great amenities, that are actually really expensive as a brand. Obviously I “use” a whole mini bottle of shampoo and conditioner every day... aka it goes in the suitcase. I can’t be the only one?

I always thought the little bottles were yours to use or take, included in the price you've paid for the room.

Sicario · 15/03/2019 15:37

If it's not nailed down, it's yours.

MissionItsPossible · 15/03/2019 15:40

If it's not nailed down, it's yours.
That reminds me of the episode from Friends when Ross and Chandler felt cheated after the cost of their hotel room so stole everything from fruit to the salt from the salt shakers Grin

Oh and yes, I have. I think it's expected.

I do if I've opened it and there's some left. I leave the ones that I haven't opened though.

Bigonesmallone3 · 15/03/2019 15:41

It's the sort of thing I think is a great idea at the time and I get home and I never use them it ends up being chucked

AnchorDownDeepBreath · 15/03/2019 15:42

No, but I don't use them, I take my own shampoo with me. If I forget one, I generally have to use the whole bottle of shampoo anyway, so I don't take any away.

I don't think hotels mind people taking the small bottles. I'd be surprised if it's not built into the costing.

Rattlemybrain · 15/03/2019 15:42

No they're usually horrible for my skin/hair. I've only ever liked one soap at a hotel, which was a lovely avocado soap.

Loopylou6 · 15/03/2019 15:43

I always do, even if it smells horrible.
Im clearly a weirdo.

Chancewouldbeafinethlng · 15/03/2019 15:43

Definitely! I stayed in a posh Hilton before and they had gorgeous products. The face flannels were lovely and soft too, they kept mysteriously disappearing 🤔

MsMightyTitanAndHerTroubadours · 15/03/2019 15:44

i stash them away every day! It really vexes me if we are hand luggage only and I cannot take so many back.

SewButtons · 15/03/2019 15:47

Always, they are really handy for nights away or if I take the kids swimming.

KrazyKatlady · 15/03/2019 15:50

Yes, if you used half of it they're not going to leave the foamy bottle with strands of hair on it for the next person are they? More budget places like travel lodge sometimes have built in dispensers so you cant take them. Tea, coffee, biscuits, toiletries etc will be included in the price. Otherwise the consumables would be priced as they are in a mini bar for example. No one ever gets a 25p (or however much a tiny bottle of shampoo cost them) refund at re eption because they didnt use it!!

I do but I don’t use them. I donate them to my local hygiene bank (like a good bank but for personal care products). They are a small charity with collection points in lots of towns and cities. Beauty Banks (run by Jo Jones and Sali Hughes) do the same thing too.

Food bank not good bank

Thiswayorthatway · 15/03/2019 16:00

Yes. The Malmaison ones even sau "the best shower gel you will ever nick from a hotel" on them Grin

CakeNinja · 15/03/2019 16:03

Only nice ones, they had Peter Thomas Roth stuff at a hotel I stayed at recently,
I buy those and they’re expensive!
Not the bog standard cheap crappy stuff though, I’m quite picky about what I use on my hair/body/face, most of the cheaper stuff have excess amounts of sodium Laureth sulfates etc that strip me of moisture and cause excess foaming - yuck!

Littlechocola · 15/03/2019 16:06

I never have but now think that I’ve been missing out!
We’ve stayed in lovely places with really nice toiletries but never thought to take them!

DustOffYourHighestHopes · 15/03/2019 16:06

Of course! We harvest them daily.

TheKitchenWitch · 15/03/2019 16:08

No, I have my own with me. I wouldn't want to use a different brand, who knows what my hair would look like afterwards?
And I wouldn't take them either, I don't need more plastic crap in my life.

Ilovewillow · 15/03/2019 16:08

Yep! We stayed at "The Ned" and they have full sized cowshed products and minis - they also have a note stating if you want the full size you need to pay for them but the mini ones are free! Took the lot!

Nesssie · 15/03/2019 16:08

I take everything I can! The little bottles are so useful for weekends away, swimming etc

EntirelyAnonymised · 15/03/2019 16:11

If you don’t use them, please consider bagging them up and sending them to you local hygiene bank pick up point. Miniatures are really useful for people who don’t have a lot of space for belongings (homeless clients etc), they can get clean and fresh and don’t have to cart around a big bottle with them.

caringcarer · 15/03/2019 16:11

I will take the ones I like but leave the ones I don't like. I also take coffee in sachets if we don't use them, for when we go camping.

ALongHardWinter · 15/03/2019 16:13

I have done as I thought it was expected. I reasoned that they were hardly going to leave it for the next guests to use! But at the last hotel I stayed in,about 4 months ago,the liquid soap and shampoo were full sized,pump-dispenser bottles, that were fixed to the wall!

happymummy12345 · 15/03/2019 16:13

I've never taken anything like that and never would
