Do you take the bottles of shampoo from hotels?

Staying in a hotel that has great amenities, that are actually really expensive as a brand. Obviously I “use” a whole mini bottle of shampoo and conditioner every day... aka it goes in the suitcase. I can’t be the only one?

Yes,but only if it’s a nice hotel Grin

Do you take the bottles of shampoo from hotels?

Not since I reached the age of 30, could afford my own nice shampoo and really didn’t want my house cluttered with random shit

Autumnchill · 15/03/2019 18:46

The hotel my husband is currently staying in has a lovely range of mini Elemis. I love him coming home on a Friday and showing me my stash 😁

They have Elemis at a Ragdale Hall.... really nice stuff and replaced every day. Very useful for weekends away when you can't take full size bottles.

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 15/03/2019 18:58

The only time I've ever bothered to take the minis was when a hotel had Hermes Eau d'Orange Verte. It smelled absolutely amazing. Generally I just bring my own as anything with SLS in makes me itchy and the shampoos are never right for my hair.

StarlightLady · 15/03/2019 19:00

I tegularly travel for work. Yes, I take them, if I like them and there are some left. The hotel have given them to you (or, more accurately, sold them to you) after all.

And I take them on my next trip. Some hotels don’t provide enough. Some others, what they provide, I don’t like.

Hospitalexpert · 15/03/2019 19:01

I had a cousin that worked with the police. We took nice toiletries for people to use after medical examination (for things like rape/child abuse)

origamiunicorn · 15/03/2019 19:07

Yes, don't you pay for them in the room price?

coffeeismyspinach · 15/03/2019 19:12

No. I usually stay in budget places that don't provide them or they provide a pump attached to the wall. Less waste and I prefer my own products, anyhow.

A relative of mine regularly stays in hotels and cleans them out - toiletries, slippers, biscuits and bottles of water.

I must admit, the slippers are handy - I take a pair for when I go on holiday (and they were handy when I stayed in hospital to have my children).

My relative tried to off load a lot of mini jams and honey from the breakfast restaurant to me. So I donated them to a charity that was making Xmas hampers.

BlackPrism · 15/03/2019 19:37

If I want them and they're nice but not the cheap crap ones

theconstantinoplegardener · 15/03/2019 19:40

I don't take any little bottles or shampoo, body wash etc because I think the small bottles are a very inefficient use of plastic. They use a lot more plastic per ml of product than the big bottles you'd buy yourself. For that reason I wouldn't even take them to donate to a hygiene bank.

I would never take towels, flannels, bathrobes etc - partly because they are not expected losses in the way that toiletries are so it is stealing IMO, and partly because I worked as a chambermaid during uni holidays and sometimes these items are not used in the way you might imagine Envy. I don't like to dry my face on a towel that has been in contact with somebody else's genitals, even if it has been washed. I don't really like staying in hotels for this reason.

Rockbird · 15/03/2019 19:42

No never. I take my own stuff and don't even register what's in the hotel.

Bedsheets4knickers · 15/03/2019 19:43

Yes but I never use the shitty things

sunshineandshowers21 · 15/03/2019 19:46

when i last went to london our hotel left little boxes of lavender sleep spray and roll on lavender oil on our pillows which i loved so much i asked a man on the front desk if i could purchase some and he gave me about 30 boxes of them for free! i only tend to take shampoo and things like that if i’ve tried it and actually liked it.

Whatsnewpussyhat · 15/03/2019 19:51

No, it's usually horrid.

I always thought if you stole robes or towels etc they would charge you as they would still have your details.

MarshaBradyo · 15/03/2019 19:52

No I use them but don’t bother taking anything

Movinghouseatlast · 15/03/2019 19:56

Crying laughing because you stole bathrobes and towels, itsallbollocks? Why is being a thief funny?

HermioneWeasley · 15/03/2019 19:56

Everything. I take everything

backinthebox · 15/03/2019 20:03

I travel for work and stay in some very nice hotels. I've never stayed in a hotel that has had toiletries that I would choose to use above the ones I've brought with me. I got a bar of soap in a hotel in Rio once that was lovely, but the other stuff they can keep. It's such a waste of resources, and I'd only use it if I found myself somewhere unexpectedly without my own stuff. I've bought a couple of good quality silicone bottles for shampoo and conditioner that mean you can get almost every drop out of them, and take a solid bar of soap instead of shower gel. I do have colleagues though that strip the room and sell it on eBay. The hotels notice this. I think its a bit crass.

daffodyle · 15/03/2019 20:03

Never knew about the hygeine bank. Such a great idea!

Luckily we have hold baggage, so the l’occitane products are coming home. Best shampoo I ever had was from a lodge in the rainforest! It was all natural locally made stuff.

There was no way I wasn't going to take all the mini Hermes toiletries on two of our recent city breaks.

You beat me to it, was about to ask the same. I'm not sure how much more stingy you can get than stealing from a hotel to give to your mother for Mother's Day. Hmm
