Does the property value tax include water rates Kay?

Murinae · 14/03/2019 09:16

£2574.12 4 bed detached in the South Wales valleys

Murinae · 14/03/2019 09:20

Think we are band E

Murinae · 14/03/2019 09:23

And that’s not including water which is another £636 on top.

kaytee87 · 14/03/2019 09:24

@teyem I'm not 100% sure what it will include. Will need to read the proposals again.

hardyloveit · 14/03/2019 09:27

Band E 4 bed detached south east £2500 no street lighting or sewage have to pay service charge of £500 a year too

MyPatronusIsAnOrca · 14/03/2019 09:27

£2180. Band E.

Interesting to see so much variation between the same bands.

MrsPear · 14/03/2019 09:28

Band d £1537 - no water just usual council amenities. This is a London borough.

For those of you who don’t know your band you should check and make sure it is correct. I had a flat in band c which was ridiculous and I got it down to band b. I then was refunded.

Monkeybunkey · 14/03/2019 09:29

£1,557.29, band C, 4-bed semi in East Anglia.

bengalcat · 14/03/2019 09:30

@1100 2 bed flat West London

Caucasianchalkcircles · 14/03/2019 09:33

£1565 band C 3 bed terrace greater Manchester

Megan2018 · 14/03/2019 09:38

2018/19 was £1,739.36 Band D (large 3 bed, rural East Mids)

Not got the bill for 2019/20 yet but I think it has gone up 5%

tenbob · 14/03/2019 09:42

We have the lowest council tax in the country, so our Band F bill is £1140 a year
Band E is around £900, I think

I have no idea how they keep it so low, but we have excellent services from our council. Weekly bin collections, weekly street cleaning, well-maintained parks

tenbob · 14/03/2019 09:45

If we lived a couple of roads away in the neighbouring borough, it would be over £2k a year

There are some roads where the boundary line goes down the middle of the road, so houses on one side will be paying £900 a year for their council tax, and the houses opposite will be paying £1800

RaininSummer · 14/03/2019 10:43

Just got the new bill - its actually 1 tenth of my take homepay - ridiculous.

RaininSummer · 14/03/2019 10:45

oh no it isn't (I cant count) but its still a fortune :)

Felyne · 14/03/2019 10:46

Surrey band G £3131. 5 bed detached.

listsandbudgets · 14/03/2019 10:55

Not had the bill yet but apparently its gone up by 5% before taking into account police and fire (which has gone up) and the social care levy which has probably gone up too.

I'm not looking forward to the bill when it arrives. Sick to death of it going up every year and getting less and less for it Confused

BibbityBobbityEars · 14/03/2019 10:57

Band G but single person discount £2194

Interesting to see so much variation between the same bands.

I think it depends (partly at least) on local housing stock. If an area has a lot of small terraced houses & not so many larger/higher value houses, then the burden falls disproportionately on the small houses, to bring in enough revenue.

Looks to be the other way round in London, from the examples quoted...

2350 3 bed detached in South Wales

legolimb · 14/03/2019 14:28

So in Scotland is the Council tax and water rates a combined bill?

Recently moved in to this house and the costs are much higher than our old house - despite having same number of rooms? *

4 bed detached. Band D £1700 for Council tax. Water rates are £880 but I've just switched to a meter - so hopefully that be less.

teyem · 14/03/2019 14:29

£880 for water is heaps. Holy crap.
