Giving up sugar and crap for a week starting tomorrow - anyone want to join me?

For one week I'm going to try and out out all my sugary crap and crisps. No alcohol. I've been half heartedly "cutting down" for a while now but I'm looking no-one so setting myself a tough but achievable target and then after the week is up...i'll take it from there.
Anyone want to join me? Or tips and advice for curbing sugar cravings welcome as I have a very sweet tooth!

Hope DD feels better soon Zoo. I caved and had another bag of mini cheddars last night, I do crave crunchy, salty things.

Back on it this morning with two boiled eggs and wholemeal toast. Lunch prepped same as yesterday, salad/fruit, smoked mackerel pate/rye bread.

Stilllivinginazoo · 13/03/2019 09:00

In scheme of things one bag of cheddars not end of the world meet

Tada
Cats fed
Zoolets fed and watered
Made dd2 pack up(realised forgot bread yesterday and she didn't tell me her late night sandwich was last of bread...good job we had breadsticks and variety of small snacks items(seed and nuts packs, mini fruit pots, soy dessert pots and usual cherry Tom's etc in fridge plus bag mini oreos)

DS deployed at(space made, not cleared) dining table to make the cheese scones

Washing on

Next up is sweep living room floor then go for a deep clean prior to church as the RBC and general piles are stacking up

@needmorepizzainmydiet welcome aboard!

@Ferfeckssake I'm the same with wanting something sweet with a cup of tea in the evening. That's been my routine for years.
I'm now onto my 3rd day without chocolate which is unheard of for me! I feel really motivated to do this full week without chocolate or crisps but know I can't keep that up forever. I do hope to achieve a better balance and only have it once or twice a week.

Sugar free polo mints are quite good for curbing cravings but obviously not with tea! But maybe straight after, might help.

@Stilllivinginazoo hope you feel better soon. Sounds like you've had a productive morning!

I'm working from home today but thankfully have no sweet stuff in the house so I should be okay. Going to have eggs on toast for brekkie and might go for a run at lunch time if I have time.

Day 1 almost done although night time is my downfall.

Planning to have prawn crackers with yea though ... they’re definitely not crisps Grin

Stilllivinginazoo · 13/03/2019 18:54

Well I slid a bit and ate a mini pack jammy Dodgers.i blame the tiredness!!I have avoided chocolate thoSmile

Wanderingnomad · 13/03/2019 19:46

I'm really struggling tonight! The nights feel so long without a sugary treat Sad I'm having fruit instead but it's not doing it for me.

LiveFatsDieYoGnu · 13/03/2019 21:14

I’ve done ok so far today but feeling quite nibbly, so I’ve cleaned my teeth and I’m going to have a bath and paint my nails to distract myself. I had coffee and yoghurt for breakfast, soup and rice crackers for lunch, and salmon, rice and vegetables for tea, so no excuse to be hungry!

Givemestrengthorgin · 14/03/2019 07:25

Morning. My battery died last night as I was writing my response. I had another good day. No sugar or snacks. Eggs for brekkie, beans on toast for lunch and chicken with roast aubergine for dinner. That was a new recipes which I can share if you like as it was very tasty.

@Wanderingnomad how did you get on for the rest of the evening after your post?

Well done everyone, it sounds like we are all doing great Smile

Yesterday wasn't my best day due to an overflowing cake table at work. However, I did limit myself to a couple of little flapjack squares, and a couple of times I wandered over for another look but made myself walk past and get a drink of water instead, so I count that as a (semi) win.

Stilllivinginazoo · 14/03/2019 07:56

Another day, fresh start and all that.im off shopping today so will pick up some savoury things like sesame breadsticks I can dunk in nut butter
Have a good day every one!!

ScafellPoke · 14/03/2019 08:02

I’ve been doing pretty well these last few days! Weetabix for brekkie, soup for lunch and last night I had spinach pasta and pesto.
I’m going veggie for the month too!
I’m noticing my stomach is much flatter but I’ve taken bread out of my diet completely so I think that’s the reason.

Also doing yoga twice a day!

Wanderingnomad · 14/03/2019 08:46

Well, I ate 2 pears but no refined sugars so I consider that a win. Sugary sweets just make me so happy though! My meals are generally very healthy but I don't feel fully satisfied without dessert to round it off.

Stilllivinginazoo · 14/03/2019 11:47

I got half drowned in school run the dp decided he wasn't going to come as tired and trip in car(I don't drive) to do a big shop has evaporated.i had trail out locally for emergency stuff need today and cut into budget as more expensive .in furious mood with banging headache and dripping wet I fell in biscuit tin.had two nice biscuits and 2 morning coffee (no other biscuits to choose from at mo) and a bite D's twirl
Now furious with myself.i promise to do better rest of the day!
Having salmon, red onion and lamb lettuce bap for lunch, then working my fury off scrubbing the house!!

LiveFatsDieYoGnu · 14/03/2019 12:11

Wow, I’m not surprised you’re feeling grouchy Stilllivinginazoo! Don’t beat yourself up, just get back on the wagon Smile maybe try something salty to combat the headache and kill the sugar cravings? I’m sooo hungry but it’s a bit early for lunch so I’m going to take my own advice and have a cup of miso soup!

needmorepizzainmydiet · 14/03/2019 12:50

So far so good today! Having a sausage roll though when I don’t normally have lunch - would probably have been better just having a biscuit Grin

Meet0nTheledge · 14/03/2019 14:12

I am at work and for some reason several of my colleagues have tubes of Pringles on their desks Envy.

Zoo - you have probably worked off the calories with all your scrubbing. Hopefully.

needmorepizzainmydiet · 14/03/2019 17:43

Accidentally ate two DELICOUS home made empire biscuits. Who can blame me?

Meet0nTheledge · 14/03/2019 17:46

I ate some of the cake DD made at school yesterday. Today has been better, I resisted both the Pringles (turned out they are £1 in the supermarket near work) and doughnuts that someone brought in.

Givemestrengthorgin · 14/03/2019 21:08

I reckon today should be called temptation Thursday! @Stilllivinginazoo how did the rest of your day go? I reckon 2 nice biscuits was pretty restrained with that kind of morning.

I had toast with avocado and scrambled egg for a late brekkie/lunch. Met my mum for a while and just managed to resist the delicious looking cakes in the cafe. Settled for a latte and an apple which didn't exactly hit the spot. Chicken and roast aubergine for dinner again tonight and a cup of tea.
Dh has wolved down a glass of wine and crisps right next to me so I think I'm going to go to bed before l cave.

Givemestrengthorgin · 14/03/2019 21:11

@Meet0nTheledge well done on the willpower avoiding Pringles and donuts... I'm off to bed now to dream about that combination!

OP posts:
Givemestrengthorgin · 14/03/2019 21:12

@LiveFatsDieYoGnu did your miso soup do the trick?

OP posts:
Stilllivinginazoo · 14/03/2019 21:56

Spotless kitchen
No more cheats

DotingDaisy · 14/03/2019 22:14

Well done everyone.

givemestrength I have gone to bed early most nights this week too. Stops me eating, plus the added bonus of more sleep!

Had a crap day today, should have just gone to bed but instead ate a nakd bar. No sugar, at least, but I wasn’t even hungry.

Hopeful for the weekend...(although my DP will be here and he is a nightmare for pushing me off the sugar wagon - and we are having date night on Saturday so will be going to a restaurant)
