Neighbours have no blinds

FaFoutis · 04/03/2019 20:23

My neighbours at the back have built a huge glass extension, the size of a petrol station, and it is lit up with bright white light. They have no blinds (they said they can't put blinds in it) so I have watched them have their breakfast and dinner and had the white glare all winter.

At the moment the woman is putting away the dishes from dinner wearing a pink tracksuit. I can see this from 5 of my 6 windows. It used to be dark and private before this eyesore and I'm finding it so depressing. The woman who lives next door but one to me has the same view, she talked to me about it and she cried. So not just me.

What should I do?
Option 1. Aim to piss them off so much that they get blinds (I don't believe the blind thing). I don't know how though. Install faulty security lights in my back garden? Get a massive sign that says 'get some fucking blinds'?
Option 2. Somehow screen them off. Their house is raised above mine and the extension is huge so I can't think how.
Option 3. Get therapy to stop being bothered by it.

I do shut the curtains, but there the fucker is again when I open the curtains.

Lol just close your own blinds

LuckyLou7 · 04/03/2019 21:47

I love the idea of getting a shitload of mannequins and standing them in every window of your house. Put some Poundland raybans on their faces and change their positions every evening. Neighbours will become rapidly become unnerved and before you know it, will have blinds installed so the 'creepy staring people' can't see them.

FaFoutis · 04/03/2019 21:47

I have not tried making them feel uncomfortable so I will. They make me feel very uncomfortable so it's fair enough.

I can't understand why they are happy to live that way either.

Yes, it's a trend. A stupid selfish one. But when the trend is over the bloody glass boxes will still be there.

Thanks longtime I'll look at that tree.

Have you any creepy looking male relatives that could sit on a chair, naked from the waist up, staring at them, while whittling a stick. Swipe swipe swipe. 😉

EffYouSeeKaye · 04/03/2019 21:49

Leave a note: please refrain feom having sex in your kitchen in full daylight, my children saw it!!

This is my favourite suggestion so far Grin

Drogosnextwife · 04/03/2019 21:49

Would you like to swap houses with me? I love a good nosey and pretty much all my neighbours are bloody selfish and shut their blind as soon as it gets dark!

FaFoutis · 04/03/2019 21:49

That's inspiring Ripple. Lovely.

Buy bamboo, in a year it will be so tall you won't see anything! (Just remember to trim or it takes over the garden)

FaFoutis · 04/03/2019 21:52

They are so boring drogo, they only have dinner, clear up then stand about talking. They don't have visitors either.

No hint of sex in the kitchen sadly. Not even a kiss.
He's probably having an affair - elsewhere, not in the eyesore.

Put marks out of 10 for her outfit of the day plus "rate my plate" points after their dinner?

Doormat247 · 04/03/2019 21:59

I would be so pissed off by this. I have issues with my neighbours too and people telling me to 'just move house' fucks me off beyond belief - I see you've had similar comments said to you.

I'd definitely be tempted to string up the fairy lights as you mentioned and maybe start doing things in front of the window they wouldn't want to see while they're eating their boring dinners Wink

whyamievenamazeddotcom · 04/03/2019 22:01

Some garden centres sell instant hedging expensive though but might help with the damage to your retinas xx

ree348 · 04/03/2019 22:01

Go for option 3

HeavensNoHellYeah · 04/03/2019 22:02

I'd get my boyfriend to do all manner of disgusting things to be in full view until they get blinds or come to some other solution.

Can someone not just crash a heavy drone into it and hope the insurance sees it as an act of god? Does that still happen?

thedisorganisedmum · 04/03/2019 22:03

It sounds horrific, I hate people who have no regard for anyone.

Why should the OP Have to barricade herself to avoid the exhibitionists?
It's as bad as the hateful cretins with excessive bright security lights.

I agree with trying to make them feel uncomfortable. Their lights will prevent them from seeing anything outside though, so you need a day solution.

Bluntness100 · 04/03/2019 22:04

You seem to be missing rhe fact if you can see them, they can see you.

Maybe also because they are selfish bastards

Aye, I think it's a given they are thinking the same about you.

SalliSunbeem · 04/03/2019 22:04

Can't you hang some curtains?

Catren · 04/03/2019 22:05

This would drive me nuts. I second bamboo. It grows like the clappers. How would you set up the shade sail to be so tall? You'd need some hefty poles, no?

Morgan12 · 04/03/2019 22:05

It must be so hot in the summer!

longtimelurkerhelen · 04/03/2019 22:06

At night they won't see out if they have their lights on.

Bluntness100 · 04/03/2019 22:06

maybe start doing things in front of the window they wouldn't want to see while they're eating their boring dinners

But this poster has grasped fully they can also see you,but seems to think seein you is acceptable, seeing them is not. 🤣

FaFoutis · 04/03/2019 22:07

eh?

not really, if you switch on your lights you can't see your garden at night.
I like to live most of my curtains open at night in rooms where we are not, the light from the neighbours glaring into my house would really piss me off.

Not all of us have bright lights either, from my own garden I can barely see my living room because at this time I only use one soft reading light.

FaFoutis · 04/03/2019 22:08

They can't see me because I have normal sized windows, and curtains. I don't live in a glass box.
