No- The Unforgettable Fire is, but good choice!

Iamblossom · 01/03/2019 22:17

Hmm- yes I think you are right there. Classic album. But I would pick up Achtung Baby as my favourite- it's when I went to see them, and takes me back.

grafittiartist · 01/03/2019 22:24

I do think that "All I want is you" is more beautiful than "One", but never got the same recognition.

lottielady · 01/03/2019 22:27

Not a huge fan these days, but back in the day they were awesome.

Sunday Bloody Sunday
New Year’s Day
With Or Without You
Where The Streets Have No Name

lottielady · 01/03/2019 22:27

Ooh yes, All I Want Is You is gorgeous

IWouldLikeToKnow · 01/03/2019 22:30

I love All I Want Is You. Also Who's Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses. My favourite is probably Walk On - it's my funeral song!

UpToonGirl · 01/03/2019 22:33

Love Kite. Favourite is with or without you/one (can't pick!) But too many amazing songs to pick, I've probably got a top 20 depending on what mood I'm in.

Also love their cover of unchained melody.

Jsmith99 · 01/03/2019 22:35

The Joshua Tree is the only album I ever queued up to buy on the day it was released. I went to Our Price in Derby with my mates and we all bought our copies. It was even better than we could have hoped, a true landmark album.

Where the streets have no name is the first track on the album, and still my favourite U2 song.

HarrietSchulenberg · 01/03/2019 22:35

Electric Co. would be my favourite. They were the same age as my ds1 and it just fizzes with their energy.

A Sort of Homecoming is another one on my playlist, and Bad.

I grew up with U2 and loved everything they did until No Line on the Horizon which just did nothing at all for me. I've tried and failed to like anything since.

Huntlybyelection · 01/03/2019 22:37

I was going to say yes until someone mentioned All I Want is You. They may be joint best. I've got some very happy memories associated with those songs.

BartonHollow · 01/03/2019 22:39

Yes I would agree, but only if equal best with Stay (Faraway, So Close)

Iamblossom · 01/03/2019 22:39

Also love rattle and hum...desire and angel of Harlem

I have a soft spot for Numb. It is my zone out song.

ssd · 01/03/2019 22:45

New years day is their best song and Joshua Tree best album

mammmamia · 01/03/2019 22:52

I can’t believe no one has said One Tree Hill. That’s the best U2 song.

elp30 · 01/03/2019 23:07

It's a good song but I wouldn't say it was their best, imo.

I'm partial to "Love Comes Tumbling", the full-length version with that gorgeous "drone" near the end that results in a climax and it ends magnificently as it leaves me a bit breathless after hearing it.
I would also add "Heartland" and "Unforgettable Fire" and definitely "Bullet the Blue Sky". There's also "Deep in the Heart", "Electrical Storm" and "Luminous Times" for the lyric: "I love you 'cause I need to, not because I need you". Ooh. But there's so many to choose from...

I'm an old U2 fan as I first saw them live during the War tour in 1983 when I was 12/13 (my older sibling took me to those early gigs) so I've grown up with them. I don't love them like I used to as a teen/ young adult but I haven't missed a tour since. My favorite song of theirs is "Saturday Night" because it was the first song I heard of theirs and I just knew they were "my" band.

NorthernLurker · 01/03/2019 23:15

With or without you for me

kingsleysbootlicker · 01/03/2019 23:19

My favourite is Tomorrow, but their best is The Unforgettable Fire

Melfish · 02/03/2019 00:29

Bad, Lady with the Spinning Head and With or Without You. Achtung Baby is my favourite U2 album. I haven’t listened to it for a while- must dig it out.

MoreProseccoNow · 02/03/2019 08:06

I listened to The Unforgettable Fire for the first time in years & it nearly brought me to tears. What an amazing song.

All I want is you, is stunning too.

Achtung Baby is probably my favourite, but it's a close one.

TidaQuel · 02/03/2019 08:22

Too many to choose from but I’d probably go with who’s gonna ride your wild horses, although stuck in a moment always gets me for some reason.

Blown away when I saw them for the first time in 2018.

Off to listen to the Joshua tree

costacoffeecup · 02/03/2019 08:26

Love is blindness off Achtung Baby is one of my favourites. I'd forgotten about the unforgettable fire, it's a great song - just added it to Apple Music.

With or without you was our 'song' with my first boyfriend at school twenty years ago. I used to love it but they used it on friends and it put me off as it seemed to be a bit of a cliche after that.

cattypussclaw · 02/03/2019 08:28

Nope, you're all wrong Grin

Early U2 the best, Boy and War era. All went wrong with The Joshua Tree and Bono became a twat.

dudsville · 02/03/2019 08:31

Achtung baby is the last album i listened to. I loved everything up to then. Struggled to get on board with achtung baby but then grew to love it. However i couldn't put myself through anymore changes!
