Earl Grey Tea

Are there any Earl Grey lovers who can recommend a strong Earl Grey?

I'm fed up of searching for a brand that tastes like it smells. They all smell lush but as soon as the hot water hits the tea bag it just tastes like bland tea.

Really need that Earl Grey fix asap Grin

Twinings I find have a strong citrusy flavour.

Really? I find Twinnings is one if the weakest since they changed the recipe. It used to be really good, but not so much now.

Morrison’s own are not bad.

Co-op earl grey is nice and strong.

IHeartKingThistle · 28/02/2019 13:58

I drink decaf Earl Grey and find the Twinings weak too. I normally stick to Sainsbury's. I've just bought a box at Tesco's though and they taste WEIRD.

Tick Tock Earl Grey is really good. It's rooibos tea but the earl grey flavour is nice and strong.

JoylessFucker · 28/02/2019 14:05

Marks & Spencers - the smell is the best I've ever tasted and the taste's not bad.

It's not a straight Earl Grey but it's gorgeous and although expensive it's well worth it...

Queen of Camellias is a lovely independent business with a Facebook page. The lady who runs it goes to markets near us and I always stock up when I see her because her Earl Grey is the best I have ever tasted by miles. Fragrant and strong. If you find her on FB and message her I think she posts out, too.

letsdolunch321 · 28/02/2019 17:09

I find lady Grey is a good taste.

Like OP, I found Twining's very weak tasting. I have tried M&S Earl Grey this had a good flavour.

This shop is excellent.

Mokepon · 28/02/2019 17:13

M&S.
But I do like Twinings EG and LG.
My granny gave me some she'd bought by mistake from Asda and they were ok.

Impatientwino · 28/02/2019 17:15

Jeniers Earl Grey is lovely and strong.

I had it in a hotel and looked it up online. It's wholesale only but you can register on their website as an office tea club which allowed me to buy a box of 100 pyramids.

It's amazing - www.jeniers.com

I don't mind popping you a bag in the post if you want to try it before buying a box. Pm me your address if so.

I don't work for them I promise! Grin

Celebelly · 28/02/2019 17:20

Williamson. I've tried just about every brand on the planet and these are by far the best. Nice strong flavour. You can get them in Waitrose and online.

QuaterMiss · 28/02/2019 17:21

At last! An opportunity to say how impressed I am with Teapigs 'earl grey strong'! Grin

Have been using the bags but tomorrow's delivery will bring the loose tea. (Usually I only drink peppermint tea - but their earl grey is so good I've been drinking the store I keep for visitors.)

GreyhoundzRool · 28/02/2019 17:22

Ahmad Earl Grey tea I find quite strong. Have to get mine online though as have only found it in random farm shops !

ForalltheSaints · 28/02/2019 18:02

Twinings. Without milk.

rslsys · 28/02/2019 18:40

Newby from Waitrose - individual foil sachets to keep them fresh. Let brew for 4 minutes - terrific!

MrsBertBibby · 28/02/2019 18:43

I find Teapigs very bitter.

Slowknitter · 28/02/2019 18:46

I find the opposite with Twinings - it used to be weak but is now stronger.

LucilleBluth · 28/02/2019 18:46

M&S brand is very strong and Aldi's is surprisingly good.

Babygrey7 · 28/02/2019 18:49

Yes, Twinings got stronger about a year ago!

I like Twinings Earl Grey with milk (heathen Grin)

NoCowardSoulisMine · 28/02/2019 18:57

T2 French Earl Grey is lovely; very flavourful with an almost coconutty after taste (which means it goes well with coconut macaroons or Bounty bars ...).

Slowknitter · 28/02/2019 21:35

I drink my Earl Grey with milk too. Irrelevant, but this is the first tea-related thread I've seen where everyone can spell 'Twinings'. Normally everyone seems to think it's 'Twinnings'! . Grin
